7.24 Games
Anyone remember dan remenowsky? Absolutely dominated the lower levels, had a k/9 of almost 16 one season. Thought he'd be the next Keith Foulke.

SoxNet: What can the White Sox get for Jeff Samardzija?
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) Where do you get the $4M number from? I'm kind of confused. Comp picks don't get $4M. Or are you talking about paying him for the remainder of this year? That is the cost of his remaining salary for this season

Sale's Month of June
Good read. Btw...I think you meant the best splitter in month of June, not sinker

Does Sale deserve better?
http://espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=10467 Insider article, but Buster Olney said basically what I did about Sale. He also said that it'd be pretty tough to get value for him because his value is so high.

Does Sale deserve better?
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Well if the Cubs don't want to part with talent then they aren't getting the best pitcher on the planet. For me it's not even about the return. Obviously he's the best pitcher in the game over the past 2 months and the return would have to be 2-3 top flight prospects. That's besides the point, I just hate to see his talent go to waste on a team that isn't going anywhere. He's such a competitor and great team player, you root for a guy like that to be put into a position where he can have team as well as personal success.

Does Sale deserve better?
In watching Sale's HISTORICALLY good run the thought keeps running through my head that he deserves better than this. I am almost never in favor of trading top line pitching, especially top line pitching that is young and cost controlled for several years but this kid is pitching his ass off and gets almost nothing in terms of support. (as I write this Robertson gives up a hit blowing the save and ruins another amazing start from Chris) You never trade a dollar for four quarters, but it seems to me that Sale should be moved so his talent doesn't go to waste on another go nowhere Sox team, and this team is going nowhere. Wouldn't you like to see him pitching in the playoffs?? I know I would and I think he deserves it. Let him go to a competitive team and we stock the minors and build for the future.

11k through 5 for Johnson. Any chance we can bring him up to be our long man out of the pen/spot starter? Replace Noesi with someone who has potential and could benefit from the tutelage of Coop? Give him the bullpen audition/training that most of our home grown starters have gotten at some point prior to being moved into the rotation.

Predict The Next Move
QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) It's one year, who cares? And, again, if you make a qualifying offer, at the end of the season, you get a draft pick. I'd love a one year rental. Such a player would likely not cost much in trade "chips" either. that would be a huge overpay for victorino to make qualifying offer, probably in the 16mil rage next year. He'd snap it up, and if he didn't nobody would be willing to pay him big money plus give up the draft pick for an aging, average player.

2015 MLB Draft
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) BPA in theory is a good idea if the team is stacked, but the sox system is lacking and have plenty of holes that needs to be fixed. i can see the sox taking a college player in the first rd and the rest of the draft will addressed their agreed breakdown of the teams needs. outside the top 5 players of the draft, in my opinion, the talent of players is not as strong as past draft. however there are a lot of HS'ers who can really help the systems. You've got it backwards, when you have a weak system you try to add as much talent as possible, regardless of where they play, your team has a low talent level and drafting specifically for a position, like a closer for example, will not put you over the top. When you're one or two guys away from a playoff/title run, then you draft for specific positions, to shore up your depth... i.e. taking a MLB ready lefty reliever because you need one now even if you have to overdraft.

7/23 Games
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) The Charlotte homer numbers are insane at their new park. Don't just look at Wilkins numbers, look up and down that line up. Danks is already at a career high too. Carlos Sanchez who had three homers in 5 years, has five homers. Takotte has gone from 4 homers to 11, in few ABs than last year. Davidson has more HRs already than he hit in the PCL all of last year. If you look at some of the videos of his HRs though you'll see that many of them aren't cheapies that would be outs in half the parks. He hits the ball a long ways and they'd be HR's just about anywhere

7/23 Games
4 multi homer games for wilkins in the last 7 games played. 9 total HR in 7 games. Unbelievable numbers he's been putting up, can't remember the last time I saw someone on a hot streak like that.

Brady Aiken DID NOT SIGN
This situation will lead to significant changes in the way pre draft physicals are handled, injured players are negotiated with, etc... The Stros are really screwing the pooch IMO, they may save a small amount of money this year but will end up losing in the long run. Nobody will want to be drafted by them and their agents will let the team know about it prior to the draft in the coming seasons. This is a case of the Stros trying to game the system...it's a very short sighted way to conduct business One of the things that I like about the Sox front office is that they don't really try to screw people over (Blue Jays excluded) when they conduct business...they seem to have a moral compass when negotiating with players/teams/etc... that goes a long ways in my eyes

2014 International Signing Period
"The White Sox have signed 16-year-old Colombian catcher Jhoandro Alfaro for $750,000. The younger brother of Rangers catching prospect Jorge Alfaro, Jhoandro also has a strong arm and is a more advanced defensive catcher than his older brother was when he signed, though he doesn’t have Jorge’s raw power or speed. Alfaro, who has been training in the Dominican Republic with Rafael Montero (known as “Spilman”), has grown taller since the beginning of the year and worked hard to transform his conditioning, now checking in around 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Some scouts felt his righthanded bat will need time to catch up to his defense. Alfaro played in the Dominican Prospect League."

6/26 Games
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 05:31 PM) I like the line of thinking on Hawkins. Hopefully the more spacious park will help Hawkins try to hit the gaps more leading to more doubles and triples and raise the batting average. In theory anyway. Or swing harder to clear those deep fences.

I saw that Michael Blanke pitched yesterday, I think in an AZL game, is he now officially switching positions? It just donned on me yesterday that he hasn't been catching so far this season.

6/11 Games
QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 06:33 PM) Anyone know anything about Kevin Escorcia from the DSL? It looks like he's 18/19 years old. I believe he was signed for a $50,000 bonus by Marco Paddy in 2012. Seems to have gotten off to a good start in the DSL. Any chance he makes it over to the states for rookie ball? Pay almost zero attention to DSL stats at this point in the season. Maybe after they've played 30 games or so the numbers will start to mean something although the DSL is notorious for having guys put up meaningless stats (both good and bad) compared to their actual ability and or potential.

Dark Horse Pick for 2014
Saladino. Not a bandwagon pick either, was a good looking prospect for a couple seasons until injury bug bit him. He's shown a pretty decent power/speed combo for a middle infielder and looks like he's finally putting it together this year. He's been a favorite of mine for a while now, hoping he can keep healthy.
