This was from 2 weeks ago, I but I didn't see it posted anywhere, so I thought I'd link it. I've never heard of or seen this before, but I guess the AFL does a Bowman baseball hitting challenge where the hitters aim for certain targets in a BP session to score points. Anderson was selected to represent the American League. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/7617858/v3675...tting-challenge His round starts at the 25 minute mark.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) I still don't get why people are so caught up in Super 2 dates. So you have to pay a little more in year 3. Big deal. Because if things go right, it will be a lot more than a "little more". And this team likely isn't going to compete for the division anyway, so losing 12-15 starts to a lesser pitcher probably won't matter much to this team anyway. -

Finally decided to play Brady over Romo this week. Brady scored 22 pts. I'm happy. Also, since Brady seems to be back, I'm trying package Romo and Terrance Williams together. Made this offer.... Tony Romo Terrance Williams Vernon Davis For LeSean McCoy Rob Gronkowski -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 05:24 PM) Keep believing your tinfoil hat anti-Apple circle jerk nonsense if it makes you feel better. Being that they've sold about 25 million of them now, I'm sure this would still be a story if it actually was the "major issue" you claim it is, but the fact that it's blown over in a matter of days should probably tell you something.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 05:05 PM) I meant in any TV show. I guess if you say it happened in BB it's not unheard of. I didn't remember that BB did that. I'm surprised you don't remember this scene. This is such a gigantic scene in the show and gave me all sorts of emotions when I saw it.

Jay Bruce would be a nice piece to buy low on. He's a 30 HR left-handed bat that owns a 9.4 BB%. His defense is all over the place, sometimes good, sometimes bad. He strikes out more than you'd like, but he also won't clog the bases. He is owed $12M, $12.5, and then has an option for $13M in 2017. He was worth -1.1 WAR last year, 4.0 WAR the year before, had a career high of 4.9 WAR at age 23, and will turn 28 right after the season starts next year. Like I said, the Reds MAY be willing to sell low on him and want to move that money. The only problem is that their OF is already pretty weak with Billy Hamilton being the only longterm piece there. Their other OFers include Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker. However, 2 of the Reds 3 top prospects are OFers, so they may be willing to let one of those guys replace Bruce next season.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 01:53 PM) I worship Jose of course. This may seen petty and minor, but can he learn to dig throws better? He's pretty lousy at that IMO compared to Hosmer/Paulie types. That's like the easiest aspect of defense TO improve. It just takes reps, really.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) I think it's a viable offer if you assume you're taking all the money off of their hands. Oh jesus, I saw 7 yrs/$80, but didn't realize how heavily backloaded his contract is. 2015 - $16M 2016 - $17M 2017 - $20M Yikes, yeah, maybe that first package seems pretty fair. I'd even try to sneak Montas OUT of that deal.
-
I don't think there is anyway the Rockies take that offer. None of those guys are blue chip prospects. To get CarGo, you may have to build a package around Tim Anderson, someone they may like when they want to trade Tulo eventually.

Have we talked about Nick Markakis having his $17.5M option declined yet? He will be a free agent, and could be a fit for us in LF if we want to move Viciedo to DH, or to Seattle. I'm actually very surprised by how bad Markakis' defense is as told by advanced metrics. I guess I never noticed him being that bad, but he's been NEARLY Viciedo bad over his career. But offensively, he is a pretty solid player who usually hits in the .290s, he walks a decent amount (usually around 9%), and doesn't strike out much at all (usually around 11%). I think he'd see both his offense and his defense increase playing half his games at US Cellular, both a better hitters park and an easier park to defend in the OF. He was a 2.5 WAR last year, a 0.0 WAR the year before that, and has peaked at a 6.1 WAR when he was like 24 years old and hit .306 w/ 20 HR, .406 OBP, and positive defense. He will be 31 next month. Would anyone be willing to go 3 yrs/$33-36M?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 10:02 PM) Start him in Birmingham. I'd rather he start in Charlotte until his Super 2 passes, that way he can get used to playing in a bandbox, and not a pitcher's friendly park like Birmingham. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 09:21 AM) I'm not sure what Homeland is trying to be these days. Pretty boring episode this week. And they used the theme music of the show in the episode. I've never see that before. You mean you've never seen that before in Homeland? Because Breaking Bad inserted their theme music in to the end of episode S05E15 - Granite State.

Sat 8 rows behind the Flames' bench. I don't think I've ever been that close before, it was actually kind of weird being so close to the players and being able to hear them talk to each other. Hawks outplayed the Flames in every way out there, and Hiller just completely stole that win. f***ing Carcillo missing on two goals, that first one was a damn tip-in. From what I noticed, it looked like Toews had a real bad game. Ben Smith is just all over the ice out there, the kid has crazy energy. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) I just now got to actually looking at these and I think I'd disagree a little. Given his ceiling and proximity to the majors, I think Rodon is arguably a top 10 prospect, but he'd atleast be in the top 15 for me. Anderson seems high at 38 to me, but somewhere between 45-55 seems more realistic. I also think Micah should be more in the 85-100 range, perhaps with Montas in that same area. There is genuine, legitimate hype around the kid right now. Needs to work on his hands defensively, but the bat is very legit. On another forum, I made some prospect ranking predictions that I got absolutely crucified for around midseason. I said by season's end, Rodon would be ranked around #20, Anderson would be in the 50-60 range, Micah would be around 80-90, Montas might sneak in the back end of a couple lists, and maybe even Hawkins if he continues his strong season. I think Hawkins may be the only one I get wrong, although I DID state a caveat in which he did not fulfill, so I'll give myself credit for the whole thing if the BA, BP, ESPN, and Fangraphs lists confirm some of my guesses.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) Mike Rosenbaum , MLB Prospects Lead Writer Sep 24, 2014 top 100 prospects. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2209149...rankings/page/8 20. Carlos Rodon, LHP, Chicago White Sox 38. Tim Anderson, SS, Chicago White Sox 76. Micah Johnson, 2B, Chicago White Sox So since I never really trust or respect B/R as a baseball source, I wanted to find out who Mike Rosenbaum was, like to see if maybe he came over from a reputable place at least. Well upon clicking his bio, I found this nugget, which may explain these surprisingly optimistic rankings of Anderson and Micah.... "Born and raised in Chicago, Mike is a White Sox fan who now resides in Tarrytown, New York."

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 07:32 AM) If it goes to the bathroom just clean it? In all sincerity though, puppies don't want to eliminate in their spaces. We have a 4 month old puppy now and outside of the first night, it has only gone to the bathroom in it's kennel or playpen twice, and only one of those times was in the evening. It'll be fine. Yeah, but just because you clean the s*** up doesn't mean it won't leave a smell, and in a small room trying to go back to bed may suck. But anyway, I am hoping by 4 months she won't be doing this, but we are getting her at 8 weeks old, so I'm going to assume it will happen a few times in the first month or so.

We finally got a pick-up date on our American Brittany puppy. We get her Oct. 26th. She is obviously still alive as of last Wednesday when my dad called the breeder. My dad just bought a second cage that is apparently going to go in my room, in addition to the one in the kitchen. I'm not sure why he wants one in my room, maybe so I become the one to take her out in the middle of the night or something, but I am worried she is going to s*** in her cage a few times and then my small room will stink and I won't be able to sleep. Not loving the idea, although I do like being able to form that close bond with her sleeping next to me each night. We'll see how it goes and I guess worst case scenario I just make her sleep in the cage in the kitchen until we house train her at least.

As dumb as I think these look, try putting a body leash on him and walking him around the neighborhood a few times a week, or every day if you can, and try to see if anyone gives you weird looks, outside of you having a cat on a leash. lol. And if anyone stares, ask if they know this cat or to whom it may belong. I would say after a couple weeks you'd be free and clear to just assume ownership.

I got a ticket for tomorrow's game if I can get someone to work for me tomorrow night. f***, even if I can't I'll probably just call off and take the write up. -
Just preordered the re-release of the Breaking Bad complete blu-ray series barrel. $230! Thank god it's an Xmas gift for me and not my damn money.

Vernon Davis or Dwayne Allen this week? Calvin Johnson or Terrance Williams? -
Watched The Bridge documentary that is available on Youtube. It's about people killing themselves by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. They actually capture a lot of people on camera jumping off, and a lot of people being saved as well. It's pretty wild.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 10:40 AM) What happens if both of those teams play each other in the playoffs? When they play each other in the same season, I root for the team that gains the most by that win. Of recent years, it's been Dallas. If they meet in the playoffs, I'd root Dallas because they are a family team that goes back multiple generations. The Rams are a team I started liking when I was 9 years old and they had Warner, Holt, Bruce, Faulk. I am a fan, but they are firmly my 2nd team because Dallas. The whole rest of my family are Cowboys and Bears fans, like they all root for both teams. -

Mother f***ing Frank Gore. All I need was for him to just get HALF of what he was projected to get, and he couldn't do it. And they used Hyde at the end of the game. I actually had a decent week, and I still can't win. 5 straight losses. Thanks Calvin Johnson and Vernon Davis. One of my buddies lost tonight because of that last minute pick 6 by the 49ers. He was up by like 3 pts, but the other guy had the 49ers defense. The only thing that could cause him to lose was a defensive TD, and they got it. He got f***ed too. -
