So it appears that the Tampa Bay Rays are the only team that gave Konerko a momento without pretty much being forced to. The other teams were CLE, MIN, KC (AL Central teams), Cubs, and the NYY (Payback for Jeter gift). And you'd assume the Tigers will do the same for Paulie next week. I was kind of thinking the Red Sox or Angels may be one of those teams, because of 2005 and all, but I guess not. Or maybe even the Dodgers because that's who gave him the first chance in baseball.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) There were a few others. The Cubs gave him the same thing they gave Jeter. I don't think there were a few others, but yes, I forgot about the Cubs, another team that pretty much had to give him something.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) Damn I didn't realize how much power Nick Franklin had either. If its true Hahn wanted him, then that sucks to see. Does his 1 HR this year in the majors impress you? Lol. Or his 11 HR combined in 102 games in 2014?

QUOTE (kev211 @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) Why ? Why will the price go up? Because they changed their pricing back in March I guess, but because I got my phone back October, I still have the $15/mo price point. When I get a new phone under the "new 2 year agreement" system, they can say the new agreement costs whatever they want, and I guess that pricepoint will be $40 a month. So now my bill will be $77 a month after data plan.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) I wasn't going there. Just funnier now rooting for balls. Oh ok, gotcha.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) Sounds great but we will still have fans saying "keep losing boys, up to six balls now". And there is nothing wrong with that.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) My buddy took his 14 year old beagle out this morning and she had a heart attack and died. Really calm quiet dog. Sad. Had heart problems though. Oh god, that's got to be f***ing awful to watch.

If they were to do a lottery, I'd rather see just the protected picks put in the lottery. And then the worse your team, the better your odds. So the bottom 10 picks, let's say, would get these amounts of chances.... Worst record - 10 balls in the lottery. 2nd word record - 9 balls...... .... ... ... 10th worst record - 1 ball. And then you pick the top 10 that way. Then you do a rule where top 3 picks from the previous year can't receive a top 3 pick in the following year.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/group/9/sort/winPercent 9th worst record, and same amount of losses as the Reds. On the protected pick...the Sox have to have one of 10 worst records regardless of the Aiken situation? Is that correct? Top 11 picks are protected this year, but yes, they have to be a bottom 10 record. With yesterday's win, the Sox have dropped down to the 10th pick. Are 9 GB of the #1 pick, are 4 GB of the #5 pick, and are 2 games ahead of the Padres for a protected pick. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) I'm actually getting pretty excited for Gotham. Yeah, if it wasn't a Fox show, I'd be even more excited.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) God I would hate to see that. I'd rather he go the Tigers than Boston. I hate Boston. I hate Boston too, more than any team in baseball, but I'd rather he go there than to anyone in the Central which would affect us much more. -

Rainey with 2 fumbles, but still got me 6 pts. Hope that's more than Welker gets. -

We have a lot of money freed up. DatDudeDP is not that good anymore. He will end up with a WAR south of 2 this season. However, if we can use that as a way of getting the price down for Cueto, I'd be willing to bite that contract bullet. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Also as far as the people who care about draft picks, I told some huge baseball fans about people on this message board wanting the Sox to lose to improve draft stock and ALL OF THEM said, "In baseball? They care about the draft?" They laughed heartily. Next time you see them, ask them what they love the most about Fangraphs, or what they think of catcher framing. Watch the dumb look on their faces when they realize they have no idea what you're talking about. -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) Family plans seem to have gotten much cheaper as long as you have 4 lines and dont care about vast data usage. I will get f***ed by this AT&T Next plan whenever I decide to get a new phone. The price for my line will go from $15 a month to $40, whether I opt in to that terrible program or not.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) I finally decided to look it up. I get 100MB of data a month. Oh my. So you can play like 2 youtube videos a month? Lol.

QUOTE (staxx @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 10:31 AM) My brother's league plays a rule that you have to pay 10$ per game that a player is suspended to keep him on your roster, kinda dumb but fun. You'd be in trouble haha. I don't know whether to start. Need some help this week with ppr: RB: Murray, Stacy, Ellington, Khiry Robinson, Sproles, Donald Brown WR: Megatron, Jeffery, Wallace, James Jones Thinking of doing Megatron/Jeffery and then Murray/Ellington with Sproles at flex. But I'm torn with maybe Stacy. I think a more interesting rule would be that you get docked 5 pts for each week for each suspended player on your BENCH. It then forces the decision of playing a guy you know will get you 0 pts, or playing a guy you hope will get your MORE than 5 pts to offset the penalty. I like that better than paying money to make your team better in the end. -

The only game I want them to win the rest of the year is Sept. 27th on Paul Konerko day. Hell, I'm GOING to the game on the 26th and I hope they lose. -

Adrian Peterson was released in my league, so I went ahead and picked him up and dropped Kembrell Thompkins just in case. So to recap, this year I've owned Ray Rice, Wes Welker, Josh Gordon, and now Adrian Peterson. Team Morality. -

Romo vs. the Rams, or Dalton vs. the Titans. ESPN projects 15 for Romo, 11 for Dalton. My other decision is Vernon Davis vs. Cardinals, or Wes Welker vs. Seahawks. Davis is projected to get 3 pts, Welker to get 5. My other options are Terrance Williams, Cunningham, Torrey Smith, or Kembrell Thompkins. EDIT: f*** it, I dumped Benny Cunningham and decided to pick up Bobby Rainey. I think maybe I'll throw him in to my flex over Welker. -

With the Sox loss tonight, we gain a game on.... Rockies, Cubs, Twins, Rangers, Phillies Sox still have the 9th pick, are now 9.5 GB of the #1 pick, are 4 GB of the #5 pick, and are now 2.5 games ahead of the Padres for a protected pick. Sox are 3 GB of the #6 Red Sox, 2 GB of the #7 Astros, and 1 GB of the #8 Cubs. -
QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) IIRC There was only one player in the AL to hit .300 in 1968 and that was Yaz at .301. The next year they lowered the mound 6 inches. Yep, Dan Patrick was talking about that today. They said the guy who finished 2nd had a .291 AVG.
