  1. I was wondering if Ozzie was going to start having Milledge run to test out his base-stealing skills, and he just swiped his 1st bag after a single.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) I hope Edwin has a switch to flip when the regular season gets going The good news is that he is still striking out a ton of batters, so he is getting a lot of swings and misses. If he was getting hit, and not striking anyone out, I'd be worried. But his K-rates tell me he will be fine, he is just getting unlucky with BABIP.
  3. QUOTE (everafan @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) The Milibridge battle rages on. Millibridge batting back-to-back! I can only imagine that they will be evaluating each other and staring each other down at the plate.
  4. Either Brent deleted his facebook, removed me from his friends list, or he blocked me. EDIT: Nevermind, it's totally back. Phew! lol
  5. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 01:20 AM) Hot Fire will seize the 3B job by May 1st, make 40 errors, and fail to draw a walk in 450 ABs. Ouch. I hope Hot Fire doesn't accomplish any of those 3 things, even playing 3B (meaning he is failing in the OF)
  6. I'll just copy my predictions over from the other threads.... I'm going to say that Morel has a better season than Beckham did in 2009, but of course falls short of the ROY award because of some A's reliever. Also, Mr. Dunn is going to put a ball on the fan deck in center, making us forget about Jim Thome's long blasts. I can't find my post, because I can't find the offseason thread, but I am pretty sure I said when we signed Humber that he would win our 5th starter spot and do a pretty decent job filling in for Peavy.
  7. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) Big win for the Hawks there in Phoenix. That was absolutely crucial to win, and NOT to go into OT. Campoli saved our asses.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) Ozzie mentioned Humber, Marquez or Pena for taking his place during today's game. And then mentioned how well Humber has looked.
  9. Didn't we already have a BOLD predictions thread like a month or so ago?
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) There is a different thread on the topic, on top of the page. Yeah, didn't see it at first.
  11. Peavy is feeling discomfort in shoulder. Will go in for MRI and may not make his start Thurs vs. Cubs. EDIT: Apparently I didn't see the sticky thread.
  12. Thornton on being the White Sox's closer now: "I’m going to work on my mean face and some kind of facial hair." Awesome.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 08:40 AM) Jesus dude, give it up, the White Sox are not going to put Thornton in the rotation, no matter how much you complain about it. lol.
  14. Good choice. Less of an excuse for the Sox next season if they plan on continuing to stifle his progress by putting him back in the bullpen.
  15. Scott Merkin Ozzie names Thorntom closer. More to come on whitesox.com
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) Dude is a stud. Next start....Thursday vs the Cubs on CSN (Cubs broadcast) and ESPN2 (probably blacked out locally). Great, guess I won't be able to watch it here in Muncie.
  17. According to Twitter, Milledge just made a nice diving catch toward the RF corner. Jake with a 1-2-3 inning, ending w/ a K. 18 pitches through 2 innings.
  18. Sox go out 1-2-3 in the 1st, all groundouts. After 2 outs in the bottom of the inning, MLB Gameday says "On field delay". Uh oh... EDIT: Apparently nothing happened. Peavy gets out of the inning w/ 9 pitches.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) I don't think you'll see any more of those McCulloch and Broadway types simply because KW has gone back a bit to the "best athlete available/highest upside" theory in the last couple of drafts. Even someone like Poreda, theoretically, if everything came together with his offspeed stuff, had the ability to be more than a back of the rotation starter. I guess when you look back at all those first round busts, for some reason Royce Ring is still the most mystifying and the biggest reach, even moreso than Broadway. Did he have a relative w/ the Sox? Like relative of Jerry Manuel or Kenny or something? EDIT: Apparently it was Bill Simas. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws I just remember being 13 years old and being pissed off the Sox drafted someone who was related to a member of the organization, figuring they probably reached on the pick.
  20. Humber walks Carter on a 3-2 count, and then quickly induces a game ending double play. 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K. Faced the minimum if you don't count Beckham's error.
