QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 11:21 PM) Or Kannapolis, where he is expected to go. You're right. I had no idea that Kannapolis was located in N.C.. Figured it was just Winston-Salem and Charlotte. So we have 3 minor league teams in the same state? Geez. And it seems like every minor league team is all somewhere on the east coast, with Birmingham being like the further team west. Is that normal? -

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Yeah I was surprised to hear Roenick and the other guy in the post say they didn't think anything else would come of it because his elbow missed him. Who gives a s*** if it was a fluke that he missed. It was deliberate, he left his feet and the intent was there. Why does it take knocking a guy unconscious for there to be discipline? Think they dropped the ball on this. He deserved at the very least a couple games. Ryan Johnson said he didn't think it was on purpose, and he isn't mad about it. But I don't believe for one second that the fact that Johnson didn't get injured didn't have everything to do w/ the ruling. Had Johnson been injured in miss the rest of the season, then Bertuzzi would be right there along w/ Cooke. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) Humber is getting lit up by Sox minor leaguers. Brandon Short homered off him, and they've scored at least 4 runs in one inning. I'm not going to second guess this...if they don't push Humber back to April 9th, they are stupid. They need to lean on the top 4 while Peavy is out. I mean, yeah, he had 1 bad inning after 2 strong innings.
-
So Peavy has gone 10 up, 10 down apparently. He stayed for 4 batters in the 2nd inning because he got them all out too fast. #winning.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) It doesn't? I mean't shouldn't. I know a lot of people who hate ESPN simply for reasons such as this.
-
I understand it's business, but business also shouldn't include leaving out the little guys and only focusing on what will get you the most money. If ESPN cut down on half the Red Sox/Yankees games, and did a variety of other teams, they would not be getting ads pulled from them left and right, and even if they did, I'm pretty sure they are not hurting for money.

So why did I read somewhere that the Cubs are on the hook for $8M? Why not $11M?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) Breakout Kings was freakin fantastic tonight. I liked it. Still not a fan of how each episode is one singular storyline, and I think Lloyd puts stuffs together WAYY too quickly, but I'm going to keep watching the show. Not as good as I hoped, but I still enjoy it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 12:26 AM) So on Shameless, I guess O'Hare looks a lot like Midway Airport these days? Oh they filmed that at O'Hare? Oh well, they shoot some shots in California for some reason too. And maybe Midway had some issue w/ filming. Anyway, I thought the finale was good. Kind of sad, but good. Watched some clips on Youtube from the UK version, and they really followed that version very, very closely. Obviously the US version is better in acting, editing, cinematography, and all that, but I feel like I might be weak and start watching S2 of the UK version until the US version comes back on.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 01:16 AM) Just so you know, Feliz will be closing. It's final now. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=6254257 Right, and Adams won't be (assuming Heath Bell stays put). Which means it should be an unfair trade in my favor. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) Bren Blackwood scoops all. Yeah. *coughRememberWhenJoeCoolMan24ScoopedThatMorelWasPromotedToAAABeforeAnyoneKnew,EvenHisFriendscough*

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 11:53 PM) You could've probably waited a round or 2 on Hanson. And I think you took Stanton and Rasmus a little early. But again, unless you have a cheat sheet on hand, I can see how a 30-second limit to make your picks would cause you to botch a few. Again, don't worry about closers. They'll be 1 or 2 popping up every week or at the least every other week. I'd probably shop Rasmus for a SP if I were you. Hanson was my first "Oh s***, I have 3 seconds left" pick. My second was Stanton (although I'm happy I have him), my third was Bryd, and my fourth was Crisp. And I'm not worried about closers at all. I think Bailey and Nathan will be studs. And yeah, I want to get an SP through trade. I know my Dbacks friend already said he wants Montero from me, so I am trying to figure out who I want from him. I am thinking maybe Montero and Adams for Wieters and Feliz. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) 30 seconds? I'd botch a few picks, too. Especially the later rounds. I like your offense for the most part. Depending on the size of the league, I would never roster guys like Marlon Byrd or James Loney. I like Arencibia as your backup C. I think he's got mad sleeper potential. Hanson is a stud. I don't know why you're questioning that pick. The rest of your staff would be solid if you had 1 or 2 more top-end guys, to go along with Hanson. I wouldn't trip when it comes to relievers. Billy Wagner bounced back just fine a year after TJ, and I believe Nathan is of similar ilk. Bailey might start the season on the DL. I suggest you ditch Adams and scoop up Brian Fuentes if he's still available. But yeah, closer is the easiest position in fantasy baseball to fill. There will be a ton of guys that either get hurt or demoted due to lack of performance (I.E. Jonathan Broxton). Just stay active on the FA/waiver wire. 14 team league, so there is really nothing of value on the FA market. And I am not really disappointed that I have Hanson, just that I took him w/ my 3rd pick. Here are my RD selections.... MIGHTY MIGHTY MOOSEKNUCKLES 11 Miguel Cabrera, Det 1B 18 Troy Tulowitzki, Col SS 39 Tommy Hanson, Atl SP 46 Ian Kinsler, Tex 2B 67 Mike Stanton, Fla OF 74 Colby Rasmus, StL OF 95 Casey McGehee, Mil 3B 102 Miguel Montero, Ari C 123 Shaun Marcum, Mil SP 130 Joe Nathan, Min RP 151 Marlon Byrd, ChC OF 158 Andrew Bailey, Oak RP 179 Jaime Garcia, StL SP 186 C.J. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) this might be the perfect summary of how messed up the brackets are this year. A better summary of how messed up the brackets are is that if Uconn even makes the championship game, then MY DOG will win our family group, and beat everyone in the Soxtalk group. Her Final Four is Butler, UConn, Washinton, and Georgetown. That's embarrassing if she wins.

Just finished my draft. We had the pick time set to 30 seconds, so on a few of my picks I was freaking out trying to get a player. My first two picks were solid w/ Miggy and Tulo, but then my draft went downhill....... C Miguel Montero, Ari C 1B Miguel Cabrera, Det 1B 2B Ian Kinsler, Tex 2B 3B Casey McGehee, Mil 3B SS Troy Tulowitzki, Col SS OF Mike Stanton, Fla OF OF Colby Rasmus, StL OF OF Marlon Byrd, ChC OF OF Coco Crisp, Oak OF Bench James Loney, LAD 1B Bench J.P. Arencibia, Tor C P Tommy Hanson, Atl SP P Shaun Marcum, Mil SP P Joe Nathan, Min RP P Andrew Bailey, Oak RP P C.J. Wilson, Tex SP P Mike Adams, SD RP Bench Jaime Garcia, StL SP Bench Gio Gonzalez, Oak SP Bench Jair Jurrjens, Atl SP My offense is pretty decent, but my starting pitching is awful. Nathan, Bailey, and Adams are all studs, but Hanson, Marcum, Wilson, Garcia, Gio, and Jurrjens are all toss-ups. No starter that I am confident in.

Buehrle with 7 Ks through 5 IP? What in the world?

Marquez has been placed on waivers, says Jerry Crasnick.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) We have different definitions of something and nothing. The bottom line is dumping Lillibridge for nothing now vs. hoping to get something back in a few weeks for his services and actually receiving a player isn't going to have a profound effect on the White Sox either in the present or in the future. Profound effect? Highly unlikely. But where is the negative? Doesn't hurt us in any way.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) And you would be wrong. Unless your talking about a young prospect back with limited upside like a Jon Ely, then you would be correct as far as getting "something back." Yes. Something back > nothing back. That's my point. Maybe Kenny just wants to get something rather than nothing, while having an excuse to cut Marquez and his awfulness.
