4/2 game, they going to get the game in?
almagest replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Lopez is missing center cut on the fastball and Sox can't do anything with it. They might as well sit fastball and hold on anything with a wrinkle. -
This is a pretty good one - just plausible enough to be realistic, and not a HUGE trade to instantly make people suspicious.
-
Doesn't really matter in a 9-0 game, but whether this is interference or not Slater better not do this again
-
I'll give the Brewers a break because the Yankees were using these:
-
Also I'm sure they'll bounce back as this roster has some talent, but this Twins team looks straight up not ready for the regular season.
-
I guess I can get behind this team scoring a ton of runs, then nothing, then a ton of runs because it's a surprise what will happen every day!
-
So far the Knights can HIT.
-
If he does that s%*# again and Elko looks competent bring him up and cut Vaughn. Or slide Vargas to first and put someone else at third.
-
The ol’ Vaughn dribbler to short
-
lol take a walk against an infielder pitching
-
I definitely did not see this coming. The Angels are really bad, so yeah, but the Sox look like an actual major league team
-
Just situationally stupid baseball
-
Stupid Benintendi. All we needed there was a deep fly ball, not a 3 run homer
-
Whew
-
Yeah, MLB.tv giving me a service error on my Xbox right now. Good job on screwing everything up on the most important day of the season, MLB.
-
I was thinking they could put him on the MLB roster for a bit then send him down, but if that's not possible then he'd still be a nice shot to take as a bench/platoon corner OF while Tauchman is hurt, and who knows how hurt Benintendi's hand really is. Once trades start flowing he could start, assuming he hadn't been terrible.
-
Trading Bellinger for nothing, as well as acquiring Paredes then trading him for one year of Tucker, while doing almost nothing else to help the team plus Tucker looking like a one year rental is borderline malpractice. They're like one quarter going for it and three quarters having no idea what they're doing.
-
He'd be worth a shot as a platoon guy, and especially if they can stash him in AAA. His strikeout issues are gonna keep him from ever being more than a guy who runs into one every now and then, though.
-
Fletcher, Colas and DeLoach will be in the minors. Benintendi is being paid a ton and at least has a history of some value. Slater was positive WAR at the end of last year with Baltimore, and has a history of some value. Taylor and Jankowski are bench players. Robert should be fine. The only thing Moniak has going for him is his age. He'll either catch on somewhere in the minors, or bounce around being DFAed until he goes to Japan, Korea or Mexico.
-
Yes, it looks like we have a team that can at least generate 0 WAR or higher per player.
-
Moniak and Jankowski are basically the same player impact-wise, and that's only due to Moniak's outlier 2023. They're both bad, and neither one would have any substantial impact on this team.

Gave him a D so far. This can change quite a bit over the next year or two, depending on how things go. Positives: I like a lot of what's been happening behind the scenes. They're modernizing the organization and making what appear to be some good hires. Time will tell how these work out, but they are digging out from such a massive hole left by KW and Hahn so it's going to take a bit. They're leaning into their competitive advantage drafting Sale-like pitchers, and the results so far are encouraging. Fedde was a diamond in the rough, and a smart signing. Crochet became a premier starter and was traded for a really nice package of prospects. Last years' draft looks solid. Interested to see if that continues with the next two. Negatives: Recency bias, but the rash of TJ surgeries and other injuries is scary. They started to have issues with injuries when Herm left and that continues. They need to figure out their medical staffing and training issues ASAP. Getz had a pretty poor track record as director of minor league development. Some of this is the lack of talent in the org once the big prospects came up, but you'd expect they'd find a way to make SOME of these guys good. Colson's regression last year. How much is on him, on his back injury, and on the org? It's early still, but the trade returns for Cease and Fedde look pretty terrible so far. If Vargas carries over his spring improvements that will help a LOT, as will Zavala figuring it out and Thorpe making a recovery for 2026. They seem to struggle quite a bit identifying hitting talent, and then getting those players to maximize their potential. Fletcher and Deloach are prime examples. Hopefully hiring Ryan Fuller and establishing a modernized identity and process helps, but they need to fix this.

I appreciate how universal the "yup this makes sense" theme is here, in an age where posters here will fight about almost everything. Goes to show what a dbag people think Bernstein is.

Because Colas has -1.4 bWAR in 278 at bats in the majors, while only managing a career .774 OPS in 735 PAs in a AAA bandbox. He needs to figure that level out first before he gets a longer shot at the majors, or they need to release him.
