2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) No thanks. Angels or Rangers please If the Angels somehow catch the Rangers, ok. Otherwise, I'd rather see the Tigers make it over the Rangers and the east teams.

GT: JFP's Last Stand? Sox @ Twins, 09/06, 7:10 PM
This Beckham talk is depressing. He allowed the veterans and Greg Walker to ruin him.

GT: JFP's Last Stand? Sox @ Twins, 09/06, 7:10 PM
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) I heard that earlier this week as well....Hence the gamethread title We shall see. If it were up to me, he wouldn't have started tonight. After tomorrow, you could give Floyd, Buehrle, Humber, Stewart, and Danks 4 starts, and Axelrod the doubleheader game. /fin

GT: JFP's Last Stand? Sox @ Twins, 09/06, 7:10 PM
Tragic Number - 14 So I guess that means Peavy gets two more starts.

GT: JFP's Last Stand? Sox @ Twins, 09/06, 7:10 PM
I hope Peavy gets shelled early and Axelrod gets 5-6 innings as today is his normal turn.

Konerko sits. Dunn at 1B.

9/5 games
Besides the 172 K's, I'd say Trayce Thompson had a successful season. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=572204 Next year at Winston-Salem, I hope to see the average up and the K's down significantly.

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Another great Breaking Bad last night. Gus's story is just awesome. I also love that the cartel guy is the old star from Scarface. I love how Gilligan uses flashbacks. Just a great show.

Are they done?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Why not? Can't just say that without backing it up. I've heard a couple writers say Hahn won't want the Sox GM job if Kenny is still there above him. The whole "promote Kenny" thing never made a lot of sense anyway. Once he's no longer the GM, he's just got to be gone.
-
Are they done?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) I think that the Forman/Paxson model is going to happen. If it does happen, it won't be Hahn as GM.

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:09 AM) Cooper. He's earned it. I can't believe no one has thought of him for the spot. He's been brought up before. And no f***ing way.
-
Are they done?
I think both will be gone. Kenny will resign. Ozzie will go to Miami, and the Sox will get some compensation.
-
ESPN Sunday Night Game
I'd trade Danks, Floyd, and Quentin this offseason...as a starting point.

3.5 weeks left, and we know it's... D-backs at Phillies Braves at Brewers Bud is going to knee-jerk that extra wildcard next year.

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) Not that it would ever happen, but Fisk has no business managing. He would be awful. Most of managing is dealing with players on a personal level and dealing with the media. He would suck at both. I was really anti-La Russa, and still am sorta. But if I knew it was going to be a year or two just to get the Kenny/Ozzie taste out of our collective mouths, I'd take it. Dave Martinez intrigues me. He's been there with Maddon for a while, and I think that can only help him. Bob Brenly and Sandy Alomar are high on my list as well. I'd also like to hear what some of the Knight Sox have to say about Joe McEwing.

And that, my friends, is a White Sox season
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) I will no longer watch games in which Mark Buehrle doesn't pitch. This could be Mark's last month. So I will cherish his starts. Besides that, I will only track Viciedo, De Aza and Flowers. Aw come on now....you mean you don't want to watch three White Sox games in 27 hours starting tomorrow night? I mean, who would pass up seeing Zach Stewart and Philip Humber pitch on the same day?

Game Thread: Sox v. Tigers 3:10pm Sept. 3, 2011
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) That would be a dumb thing to do. If you're out of contention, then pitch the daylights out of him and Humber, try to build up their arms as much as you can. Did you not hear Peavy the other day? He can't wait for the offseason, and his arm is dead. Get him out of here.

Game Thread: Sox v. Tigers 3:10pm Sept. 3, 2011
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) ? This was his fault? They were shutting him down if they fell out of contention. That was my way of saying it's that time.

Game Thread: Sox v. Tigers 3:10pm Sept. 3, 2011
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) I can't imagine how mad I'd be if we were like 2 or 3 games out True. I haven't been excited about a Sox game one way or the other since early April.

Send Peavy home tonight.

9/2 games
That 2010 draft looks pretty good now with Sale and Reed on the Sox, plus Saladino, Wilkins, Petricka, Blanke, and Ravelo doing some good things.

9/2 - Sox @ DET; Danks vs. Ver-Zeus-Der
I'm kinda juiced for this game. If Danks outduels Verlander, maybe the sphincter gets tight on the Tigers the rest of the weekend and the Sox are 2.5 out going into the doubleheader Monday. Of course it's not probable, but at least they're still playing for something right now.
