  1. Yea, I never understood the timing... Weekends during the start of the summer when everyone is "thinking baseball".
  2. Young sucks.... he would be out of baseball if he played anywhere but Texas.
  3. JD couldn't catch the ball anymore and that is half the battle. There was an influx of DH candidates that all took major pay cuts to stay in the game, Jermaine did not. Don't let the door hit ya.
  4. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:50 PM) Someone make me a "The Yankees like the White Sox sloppy seconds" signature, with both of their pictures in there!! More like sweaty seconds....
  5. I am now convinced Sale is going to the rotation. I am a believer that the Dunn money came from Peavy insurance, and that Ohman was added because Thornton is going to close.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Pierre actually had a higher WAR last season than Young, believe it or not. Defensive metrics had Pierre much better than Young which I strongly disagree with.
  7. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) LF: Young > Pierre I think Delmon needs at least one more >, but otherwise it is a fair breakdown.
  8. I am sick and tired of seeing this organization trying to force players into defensive positions where below average is the best case scenario/goal. Dayan is a First Basemen or a DH.
  9. Dude is a DH on a team with three already under contract. f***ing trade him.
  10. My take is that a manager's actions can hurt a team more than they can help a team. I feel Ozzie is a feast or famine manager; his highs are high, and his lows are low, therefore if I were a GM he wouldn't be my manager.
  11. My Driver - 00 Toyota Land Cruiser My Wife's Driver - 09 Range Rover HSE Fullsize My Other Car (often seen in the scout lot) - 09 Audi R8 4.2
  12. I have had several phones in the past year. To put it into perspective for anyone that hasn't tried an IPhone: I live in a small town with a city board that for some reason hates cell phone towers, and as a result AT&T has zero service. The IPhone is so much easier to use that I carry one on top of my talk phone (US Cellular) just to use for work applications. I have owned two HTC Touch phones from US Cellular and the original Droid and Droid Incredible from Verizon, as well as the EVO with Sprint. None can hold a candle to the Iphone. The only one that is close is the EVO but Sprint's service isn't much better and half of the apps I use for work aren't on Android Marketplace. I don't like most Apple products, BUT trust me, the Iphone is easily the best phone on the market for non talking applications. So.... if Verizon can hold the network together it will be a no brainer to go with the Iphone on Verizon.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) The motivation of Byrdak on a minor league deal would be; Sale starts the season in the rotation, Thornton starts the season as closer...Ohman and Byrdak start the season as lefty specialists. You are correct sir! I would like to quickly point out that we can't have it both ways: The Peavy insurance money went to Dunn AND Peavy is in the rotation ---------------------------------- Another thought I would like to put out there is: It seems that Sale had a few "demands" on draft day and that KW seemingly is accomodating him. I'd bet one of his "demands" was that he was a starting pitcher in 2011. So, yes I am in the Sale will be a starter camp.
  14. Beltre is reportedly close with the Rangers for almost 100 million smackers.... Evidently KW is the only GM that didn't get the "DEFENSE MATTERS" memo (and at the rate solid defenders are getting paid/overpaid, that might not be a horrible thing).
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) The internet is killing most of their pretty games. I had a guy try to sell me a car over sticker price once. I made quite the scene on my way out. What if the dealer made a scene when a customer lowballed them? That would be unprofessional.
  16. It was a done deal, Beltre was coming to Chicago; then Kenny tried to touch Adrian's head... and the deal unraveled.
  17. Jack Cust is screaming at his kids right now.
  18. Do the Cubs have a Ron Santo suggestion thread every offseason?
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 04:18 AM) His agent may request a clause in the deal where if he doesn't play "X" amount of games in the field that the last one or two years of his deal are voided. Perfect, wouldn't every team love short term deal with Dunn at a long term rate?
  20. If there is grass on the field: play ball.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) This is an absolutely terrible trade. Our best young starting pitcher, our young/cheap/talented starting 2B, and one of our top 3-4 prospects for one year of Gonzalez and Ludwick? This trade would completely destroy our organization in the long-run. I'd bet the Pads would bite at a package of Linebrink and Ozzie Guillen.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 07:38 AM) They already have $72 million invested in just 6 players. Their payroll has never been $100 million, and their pitching coach is known to pick up garbage pitchers and salvage their careers. They aren't gonna take MB for $14 million, then pay their other 18 players less than $14 million total. Plus, I think they would like to save some cash to offer that 1B of their a long term deal relatively soon. Not to mention Wainwright's contract may be running out soon (not sure how his options work), they are gonna want to pay him too. They will NOT take on MB's salary. Guys like De La Rosa and Pavano are going to be ten million for three or four years.... and will cost picks. MB being at least a Type B free agent is not a horrible play at one year and 14,000,000. And I clearly stated that the Sox and Cards were not a great match.... My argument is to Buehrle's value.
