  1. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 10:59 AM) I actually APPROVE of the way Robin used the bullpen yesterday. It was about time he sent a message to the bullpen about throwing strikes, so he pulled people whenever they walked someone even if that was early. The fact that he burned through the entire bullpen that way just indicates that everyone in our bullpen is god awful right now. I also don't think he needed to use Webb right away. Everyone needs to pull their weight in high leverage situations at some point. SOMEONE besides Webb should be able to do it. You have to try at some point. That was 100% on the bullpen's inability to throw strikes. If you wanna throw stones, throw them at Hahn or Coop for this one, IMO. He didn't do that with Cleto. I'm not sure why Lindstrom didn't start off the 9th.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) I didn't know Leury Garcia pitched last night. How is his stuff? He hit 88 and got a few off-speed pitches over. He actually got the first two guys out. Then the Boston hitters got smart and figured out he couldn't really throw strikes.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:04 AM) Jose Abreu created the game thread before midnight. Next thing you know SoxTalk crashes for over 12 hours and Leury Garcia is pitching. That was very entertaining after being pissed at Sox pitchers walking just about everyone. Then Leury walked two guys and they both scored. Figures. Oh well, it was fun and I was laughing for most of that inning.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) Do you mean they are 0 and 3 against the Cavs? I hope so. We all need to pray to the basketball gods for Raptors win and a Nets loss/Wizards win tonight. No I meant they were 0-3 against the Wizards. That means the Wizards own the tiebreaker.
  5. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 11:37 PM) https://twitter.com/MassholeSports/status/4...0693377/photo/1 Yeah, I don't think they ever showed that angle on the replays.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) Yeah, and then it re-downloaded all of them once I signed in to my Google account. Hmm, so it did re-install the OS yet you still can't get your toggles to work. It could be an app you installed that's possibly screwing with it, but I don't think that's all that likely. Does your bluetooth just not come on at all when you use the toggle? Or does it come on when you set it in the settings menu?
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) Nets may be tanking to get the 6th seed. People speculated they might and they are doing their part so far tonight. If that happens I will gladlyttake the 4 seed. They're 0-3 against the Wizards this year, so all they have to do is lose and have the Wizards win tomorrow to get the 6th seed.
  8. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) yeah Also congrats on a check swing call going Semien's way. I had my pinky dislocated once like that and it was absolutely awful. In fact, it's still bigger and more bent than my other pinky.
  9. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 10:55 PM) Bullpen deserves much credit! Too bad the umps f***ed the Abreu review up. Oh well it was made up with the error The replays they showed on the Sox feed sucked. I don't think they got a shot at the right angle where you can see Napoli's glove and his foot in the same frame.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Even that unproven bum Downs He finally had control and hit 88 on the gun today. Even Veal looked decent.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) Titanfall and Dead Rising don't interest me a whole lot, but I saw Forza demoing at a Gamestop and was absolutely stunned at how good that game looks. I tried to play, but I think the kinect was freaking out or something because it wasn't responding to the controller very well. I love my PS4, but I'm definitely interested in getting an XBox One if there's a huge exclusive that interests me. Also, I want them to port over the Halo games after 2. I never got to finish 3 and haven't have a 360 after college. I'm sure that's coming down the road at some point. I'm getting all the PS4 exclusives and most of my single player games on PS4. For the Xbox, I'm gonna pick up the exclusives and most shooters. Outside of some of the voice control functions not working, the XB1 is a great media center. I have my TV routed through it and it's nice to be able to watch MLB.tv and TV at the same time and switch over. It'll be even better when NFL season comes around. It kind of sucks there's no NBA League Pass app though.
  12. Johnson's velocity wasn't any better today than in his previous starts, but he was aggressive and he got his off-speed pitches over. Good to see.
  13. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) That Napoli injury was huge It was also big for my fantasy team (yeah I know nobody cares).
  14. Back to back walk-off wins. I like it!
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpos...op&id=67319 And their sub headline is an article on defensive rpm. It's like they just read my post. What the hell. RPM is ESPN's stat, of course they're going to be pimping it. What I don't like is that it's completely proprietary. They haven't really outed anything that truly explains how they arrive at those ratings. I can tell you how WAR is calculated because FanGraphs and Baseball Reference have entire sections on that. I like that they're trying to create something better than Win Shares for basketball, but I'm not sure a plus/minus scoring system is the way to do it.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 05:24 PM) His defense turned the Nets from about the worst defensive team out there to above average. It's still absolutely elite. And he plays 22 minutes a game so that he can play 30 plus for the playoffs. 2012-2013 Nets Def Rtg: 106.2 pts/100 possessions 2013-2014 Nets Def Rtg: 107.4 pts/100 possessions The Nets also allowed less points per game last year by almost 4 points (95 vs. 99). Garnett is still a good defender, but he's nowhere near as valuable as Brook Lopez.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) I just bought an Xbox One also. Should be arriving in the mail today. When they dropped the price to $450 and included Titanfall that was good enough for me. Also bought Dead Rising 3, NBA 2K14 and pre-ordered Watch Dogs. Should keep me occupied for awhile. I got Titanfall, Forza 5, and Dead Rising 3 is coming today. It's definitely more fun than the PS4 so far.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) Tried it, no luck. Guess I'll try T-Mobile tech support. For some reason, they don't have an e-mail address to contact. Did the factory reset delete all your apps?
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) I'd absolutely take Kevin Garnett playing defense at an elite level over Brook Lopez. Their results show the same. Except Kevin Garnett is no longer elite. And even if he is, he only plays half a game.
  20. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) Dallas is an 8 hour drive away and I'm blacked out. Really? Houston takes about 6 hours. I am blacked out there as well. 150 miles to watch a game in most city parks would be a 8 hour committment. that seems about the longest that makes sense to me. Dallas at least makes sense since I get Fox Sports Southwest here in Austin on Cable. But nobody gets CSN Houston here...that's the one that makes absolutely zero sense. Edit: wait 8 hours away...where do you live in Texas?
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 06:58 AM) They are better without Lopez. I really don't think they are... You'd rather have a 37 year old Kevin Garnett and Mason Plumlee as your main big men as opposed to an extremely efficient 7 footer? Lopez gets a lot of crap for being a bad defensive player and a bad rebounder, but a deeper look says that's not the case. Good read: http://hoopchalk.com/2013/04/16/why-cant-b...s-out-too-much/
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) And that one loss was in March when Brooklyn finally started getting their s*** together (Bulls first two wins were earlier in the year). I'd much rather face the Wizards/Bobcats and their lack of playoff experience, but avoiding Miami till the ECF is just too good to pass up personally. Bulls won one in February too.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) Bulls should want nothing to do with the Nets in the first round. That was a struggle enough last year. No Brook Lopez this year. Bulls were also 2-1 against them in the regular season. That and home court make me pretty confident the Bulls can beat the Nets in the first round. It won't be easy, but it's doable.
  24. Heat lose again. It looks like the Pacers will get the #1 seed. The Bulls should lose on Wednesday.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) Pence was terrible, and he couldn't figure out how to do some of the easier aspects. Conversely, Puig was actually quite good. He beat Pence in the HR derby twice, and then even beat Russel (SCEA Dev team) in HR derby as well. Game looks very similar to 2013, yes, but I'm still enjoying it like I always do. The biggest reason to upgrade is online franchise and year-to-year cross-platform saves. Can't wait to never start a franchise again. And no, Greggy Mills is a Cubs fan. As soon as Pence and Puig left he jumped in to a Cubs/Cards game because he wanted to see what Wrigley looked like (even though they always reveal a ton of Wrigley pics before each game's release because it matters I guess). Apparently Puig plays a lot of soccer video games, so he's probably just good at sports games in general.
