  1. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) Pretty sure the marquee players can still earn a fat paycheck playing in leagues in Europe and other parts of the world, don't think you'll see D Rose applying for a job at Wal-Mart. Definitely not, but a majority of the players might have a hard time. Even if they've made millions in previous years. We all know how irresponsible some NBA players are with their money.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Glad no morons put Sabathia first. No surprises in the voting. WAR is maybe not a great measure for closers. No way anyone in their right mind would have rather had 18 closers more so than Valverde last year. I think Valverde's screw ups in mop up time screwed with his peripherals, meaning poorer numbers. He was definitely top 10 last season considering how good he was in save situations. Still, the joke is that he got 5th somehow, ahead of Dan Haren.
  3. QUOTE (Real @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) De Aza is a fringe AAA/MLB player, hell no he isn't an MLB leadoff hitter. Did you watch him play last season?
  4. I thought Pineda should have won in the AL, but I don't think Hellickson was a horrible choice. Mark Trumbo finishing second though...? Not so sure about that one.
  5. QUOTE (Stocking @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 03:54 AM) traded murray for julio jones Unless your WR depth sucked or you were just stacked at RB, I don't really like the deal.
  6. I'm actually glad I made this deal. Even though Jackson is sitting on my bench doing nothing, MJD has been very useful with Bradshaw out. My WR depth allowed me to absorb whatever I lost with Megatron.
  7. QUOTE (cws0591 @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) cod MW3 is very fun, but as always an aggravating play online. The spawning reminds me of world at war's if anyone experienced it. sometimes one can spawn in the exact location as an enemy and knife leading to some serious rage. Spawning is just bad. both the additions are very fun in team defender and kill confirmed. Though team defender exemplifies what I am talking about with spawning. The enemies spawn very close to the flag carrier which leads to enemies spawning right behind the defending team a lot. Sniping is kind of a joke, a bullet almost always kills with one shot(no complaint) but the problem is that they are so damn easy to aim with the sway in the gun is very light and it is unnecessary to even hold ones breath when using a sniper. On the other hand I have no real issue with any of the maps. Taking all of this into account the online experience is definitely addicting and I will be at this game for some time(battlefield what?). CoD online is for everyone. It's a game that makes you feel good, even if you suck at FPS games. I definitely like it. Battlefield is for the more experienced and strategic players. It's a hell of a lot more realistic (both visually and gameplay-wise) and it requires team-play to be successful. I guess it's just whatever floats your boat.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) So weird that the Sox could potentially be playing a team they beat in the World Series only 8 years earlier, every season... I wish they would put Houston in the AL Central and move the Royals or Twins to the West.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) I would LOVE that line over 600 PA from him next year. Add in good defense (say +5 for the sake of it) and he's a 4-5 WAR player depending on how sucky league scoring remains next season. What a bargain that would be...
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman Prospective astros owner Jim crane has agreed to go to AL in 2013. He gets about $50M discount to go. He still needs vote of owners Well, this totally screws up the Back to the Future prediction of Miami vs. Cubs in the 2015 World Series. For a second there, I thought that was going to become true with the Cubs getting Epstein and the Marlins changing their name.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) Huh? lmao, that's something from Boers and Bernstein.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Ellis going to get 4.5 million a year....awful deal by the Dodgers. Ellis isn't that bad. Good defender, below average bat. Comes out to be a mediocre 2B, but $5 million for a mediocre 2B is worth it. Apparently, the Dodgers are now all sabermetric and they're picking up some fringe guys for pretty much market value. I always thought sabermetrics was supposed to exploit the market, not follow it. So they're probably doing this thing all wrong.
  13. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) UZR really liked De Aza's defense last year. Dude put up a 2.8 fangraphs WAR in 54 games. Sure, a lot of that was BABIP, but that's impressive. He has good speed and from what I've seen, pretty good range. I'm really looking forward to seeing him and Viciedo play every day next season.
  14. This just in, Bill James Handbook projects the following line for De Aza next year... .293/.350/.450. But it's only over 240 PAs. Nevertheless, it's about what I thought he'd be without the inflated BABIP. I'll gladly take that over Pierre any day.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) So here's a question. If all contracts are voided, what does that mean if/when the league comes back? Will teams still hold restrictions on players who were under contract previously? Fantasy draft.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) I'd be mad, but laugh for eternity if the owners right now came out and said "We are now disbanding the NBA. Go get your Masters Degrees guys! Now that would be funny. The owners don't NEED their franchises. They've made their money elsewhere. The players on the other hand...well...good luck with your day to day jobs.
  17. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Man, I cant help but think if we had the Saints and Packers back to back at this point in the season. Would love to get another crack at that part of the schedule. Bears have had one of the toughest schedules to date. The fact that we're 6-3 right now is impressive.
  18. Bears have 4 straight against the AFC West coming up and then a game against Seattle. This is the easy part of the schedule. Another 4-1 record in the next 5 should get us into the playoffs.
  19. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) Peanut making CJ his b**** He's done an incredible job on him today. A lot of that is Stafford making some horrible passes, but Megatron's gotten shut down.
  20. Matthew Stafford looks lost. This Lions team is a joke.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) Is it true Pujols, Reyes and Mark are considering Oz's Marlins? Not meant to flame, but this proves what a joke that poll was a few years ago that said Oz was the most hated manager by players in the game. Bulls***. Last I checked, they didn't sign anyone yet. At this point, any time an FA gets an offer, they will probably consider it. The only evidence of anyone "loving" their visit is Reyes. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/11/marl...rle-madson.html All of this is done in order to get fans excited and see that the Marlins are trying and willing to spend money. That franchise has hurt their fan base numerous times by blowing up World Series teams in a matter of months. Unless they're willing to spend money consistently, they will never have a steady fan base.
  22. De Aza should be productive next year. He had an extremely lucky year with the bat last season. His BABIP at AAA and MLB was .370 and .400 respectively. He's probably not going to repeat that, but even if he doesn't, I think we're looking at a .275/.350/.450 type of hitter. I ran an xBABIP on his 172 PA sample last year and it came out to .329. So he was quite lucky, but after I adjusted everything to the .329 BABIP instead of .404, his triple slash was .273/.354/.461. Add good defense to the mix and he should be a pretty valuable player for us down the road.
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 02:21 AM) Busy day for IGN, 3 9.5's given out, and now a 10 for Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/121/1212220..._source=twitter They also reviewed Saints Row 3, which looks awesome.
  24. Michael Bush is awesome...for my fantasy team.
  25. Shocking to say the least. These kidnappers also picked the wrong guy to kidnap. He's not even making any real money yet compared to other big name guys.
