  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) He wins games by himself when he has to. He's f***in absurd. On a much different note, I wanna smack Carlos Boozer upside the head sometimes. Oh god he was bad. He can't do much on offense and his defense is atrocious. Plus that lazy possession where Hansbrough stole the ball from him and got an and 1 because of Boozer's f***ing laziness pissed me off so much.
  2. I don't know how you can watch this game and still think Rose isn't MVP. He was completely responsible for the 10-0 run the Bulls put on to end the game.
  3. Pacers trying to foul Rose hard every time. Thomas and Noah won't have any of that.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 03:18 AM) Question..., what is a normal Juan Pierre? If it's what I think it is I don't want to know what an abnormal Juan Pierre is. Normal Juan Pierre doesn't miss routine fly balls. The only thing he could pride himself on was his defense...before he started missing can of corns.
  5. QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 01:39 AM) I would never spend half my night arguing over adum f***ing dunn. If u r a mlb fan....then u know who adam dunn is, no reason to make a thread about something that is GUARANTEED to happen at least once a week. Can't wait for "Dunn is DONE: volume 53". GMAFB...dunno what's funnier, the thread or the fact that I read most of it. The latter. Because the former succeeded in its purpose.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) Nice stat line tonight Bobby... B Jenks (L, 0-1) 0.1 4 4 4 1 1 0 26-14 8.31 lol, the Bobby I know is back in full bloom.
  7. QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) I m kinda new to this board but is it always like this? It isnt bad or anything to you know have debates about opinions but if it gets to a point where its the norm and where the topics are hillarious like the one we had today about Dunn then yea..... All the time.
  8. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) I agree with the OP. I hated the Thome trade and the Dunn signing simply because I don't like this type of player. Saber guys love him. Guys like us that like watching players who can get creative with the baseball will often be frustrated with Dunn. But he sure is gonna hit a bunch of crowd-pleasers and he's on my favorite team, so we gotta get over it dude. Cheer for the man. Is Juan Pierre creative?
  9. This s*** is hilarious. This shoulda been up on April Fools.
  10. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) Isn't there already enough stupid ass stats in baseball? Somebody's frustrated that he's falling behind.
  11. Twins probably shouldn't have traded Ramos (especially for freakin' Matt Capps). If they were to move Mauer out of the C position, his immediate replacement would be the great .200 hitting Drew Butera.
  12. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) I love how guys want to counter an argument about someone looking absolutely terrible and potentially being replaced with "There's no guarantee such-and-such other person will work." No s***, that's why you TRY it. We're taking no bigger a gamble (much less of one, IMO) then leaving our star setup guy in to keep blowing games and regress as has been pointed out over and over. I say give him one last shot and if he still looks this bad... he's done. How do you know Thornton will continue to fail, given his track record as a great reliever? You do know that even the best relievers in the game go through slumps right? He's had 2 bad innings, supplemented by some terrible defense. What if Santos fails as a closer? Trying is one thing, but you guys are also implicating that failing at closing = possibly messed up mental state. So there's a risk at TRYING, apparently. Yet, you want to TRY.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) That's assuming that Thornton returns to his dominance when moved back to setup. It's something I'm not inclined to believe just yet. It could very well be a physical issue with him. Last year was the first season where arm issues flamed up with him. He's almost 35, so that doesn't seem abnormal. Either way, the Sox are f***ed if Thornton's bad, closer or setup man.
  14. There is absolutely no guarantee that Santos is going to be a good closer. This is a guy with very few high leverage innings under his belt and hasn't exactly excelled in them (5.01 FIP). You'd be taking a big gamble by placing him there. But outside of Thornton, he is probably the next best option. The thought of having two good left handed setup men does seem inviting.
  15. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) Chris Paul > Derrick Rose Have at it. Probably depends on the situation. In Miami? Hell yes. On this Bulls team, no way. Derrick Rose carries the entire load for the offense. He is involved in almost 60% of the points the Bulls score, one way or another. Chris Paul isn't exactly known for his scoring, especially in the past two years. If you ask him to take a higher volume of shots, his efficiency will most likely go down. On top of that, the Bulls are probably a below average shooting team if you take Rose' ability to create open perimeter shots with his ability to break down the defense, something Chris Paul is not known to do (only 16% of his points are scored inside). Rose is perfect for the Bulls' current situation, whereas Chris Paul is much better when you have better shooters around him who don't need him to create open shots for them. Hence, Miami. LeBron, as good of a ball-handler as he is for his size, is a turn-over machine. If you put Paul on that team, not only do they become much more organized, they also probably get more production from their big men with his passing. The two guys are different types of point guards. If you're talking about point guard ability alone, Paul wins in a landslide. But Rose is the better scorer (maybe not as efficient as Paul, but if Paul took 21 shots a game, I don't think his TS% will be 58%).
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Guillen just said that the ball that Pierre dropped wasn't easy because there is a wall near him. Yeah that's some awesome logic there. Lmao It wasn't exactly routine. There was wind taking it towards the stands. You see the ball Suzuki dropped in foul territory? The wind was making the ball drift tonight. Still, there's no freaking excuse for missing that ball.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Chw2, Thornton had the first guy 0-2. At that point you can throw exclusively fastballs, for some reason they went offspeed and over the heart of the plate. I assure you, that is not part of mixing up pitches. Had Thornton got the first batter, its an entirely different inning. Its just the little things. I actually am willing to give Thornton more of a chance because he atleast tried to do something different. This game was entirely execution, it wasnt predictability. Execution can be fixed (you hope). I'm thinking that was part of the mixing-up. You'd think LaRoche would be sitting fastball in that situation. The last thing you want Matt Thornton to lose is his confidence in the fastball. He has to go back and throw exactly the way he did last year. No more junk, no more 90 MPH change-ups. Just blow the fastball and if they hit it, so be it. Letting the other team hit your mediocre off-speed crap instead of your best pitch is a terrible idea. Thornton threw only 7 fastballs today, averaged 95.6 on them. The velocity was certainly there.
  18. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Maybe it's just me...but I still send Mark out there in the 9th pitching a shutout. Not like he had a ridiculous pitch count... I would have too. But Ozzie probably wanted Thornton to feel like he still has faith in him. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case tonight.
  19. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) With a Juan Pierre in LF and a Carlos Quentin in RF this team seriously could use a GOOD defensive outfielder for the late innings of close games like this. The problem is that Pierre is actually a good defensive outfielder, he's just been horrible at judging high drifting fly balls. This has been a weakness of his. He's pretty much lost the Sox two games on his own because of his f***-ups though.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Thornton threw an 0-2 hanging curveball down the middle. That isnt the Matt Thornton of last year. Didn't you say Thornton should mix up more pitches? He did that today. The result was probably worse than the Tampa game. He hit 96-97 on the gun today, so the fastball was there.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) He has to. Even if Dunn were to PH and homer, he has zero OFs. Dunn could play 1B and Teahen could go to the OF.
  22. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:39 PM) I wonder what Boston's asking price for Bobby Jenks would be....it's certainly worth a phone call from Kenny to find out. Don't even start.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:39 PM) This online feed is behind you guys, but that pitch Crain threw on the double down the line was a real good pitch. I can't believe that he got a piece of that. That was a half-way excuse me swing from Kouzmanoff.
  24. Castro, Lillibridge, and Pierre...lol yeah right.
