QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 28, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) Offer Albers and Rollins to SD for Alexei. Why would they want Alexei back? Just play Saladino vs RHP and Rollins vs LHP. Don't hit either of them #2

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 28, 2016 -> 12:30 AM) Did anyone watch the Real World this season? If Jenna isn't the worst person to come on the show in recent memory I don't know who is Maybe the worst person of all time. She has no idea that she is either.

Can Someone Honestly Tell Me ONE Thing That Ventura Does Well?
Y2Jimmy0 replied to SoCalSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) Here's the thing. Name any random White Sox former player: Thome Rowand Konerko AJ Crede Buehrle How would they be even less equipped to deal with today's players??? Ventura is respected and keeps the clubhouse calm, but it seems that Jim Thome would do or accomplish the exact same thing. Maybe Rowand would be a little more hyper and chippy, but definitely not Thome or Konerko. AJ, that would be fun watching him trying to get along with Cooper and KW. Black Jack McDowell (who would never be offered the job anyway) would be the other former Sox player with an edge. Unless they went with Carl The Dinosaur Everett in a bid to "mojo back that leadership" they supposedly lost after 2005. If Ventura gets fired, it'd be Rick Renter taking over and my guess would be that they'd hire Sandy Alomar in the offseason -
5/28 Game thread: @Kansas City, 1:15pm, WGN
Y2Jimmy0 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2016 -> 02:11 AM) I hate to be a negative prick, but we have no chance in this game. Sox lost all the mojo it had. Yes at one point we were so hot and confident we had a chance to play with KC and beat KC. Now forget it. We are fodder for them. Look for about 5-7 wins against KC this year 12 to 14 losses. Sorry but that's the case. After last night, today is a no brainer KC victory. There is momentum in baseball. KC owns us and has set the tone at 3-1 vs. Chicago in four games this season already. Today should be something like 7-3 or 7-1 KC I know you don't care but it doesn't work like that. It may end up happening but not because it's "supposed" to. Every game is different. -

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ May 27, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) Well my first ever game thread got taken out by mother nature. Let's do it again. Same facts as yesterday. Let's get a Gritty win today. Side note - who pushes back Sale's start??? Especially during this series. I think Monday is set to be Matt Harvey who is downright brutal this year. I'd rather have Sale on Sunday. But yet again Robin shows us how bad a manager can be. I'm calling an Abreu explosion still. 2 homers. Sox 7, Royals 5 I don't mind getting him the extra day. It's May.

QUOTE (Soxnfins @ May 27, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) Not as much as it is lazy as it is a good comparison mentally for Anderson. Gordon was a SS converted into a 3B that was a mental midget... The game is 90% mental. That's just my opinion. Does Shawon Dunston ring a better tune? Personally, we need Anderson to do what he is best at- utilizing his speed and need him to grow defensively. That's why he needs to stay put where he is. He's an ideal #2 hitter with Eaton being our leadoff, or #9 to start out. Melky should be our #2 at the moment. Rollins at 8 or 9. If Robin wises up and puts him there, there's no real need to bring up Anderson until the end of July. I think Abreu needs to hit 2 personally.

Come on boys this thread is lacking. I love how Bananas and Wes just hang back and let the dumbasses be dumbasses. Dudes will probably be in this thing until the end.

Fire Robin. Bring Back Ozzie. Do It Now

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) I can't take the bait for my sanity and the board's. Check the old threads. I worship Ozzie. Then and now. An adult worshipping another adult is kind of weird. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Nothing in Anderson's history tells me that he will be better than Rollins if he were called up right now. In fact everything in his history shows the opposite. The theorhetical chance you refer to isn't equal. The chance he will struggle upon call up are MUCH higher than not. I think he;d perform better than .600 OPS. I agree that that doesn't make it the right time though.

QUOTE (captain54 @ May 25, 2016 -> 09:52 PM) When Reinsdorf did more interviews, like.. right around the 2003 season, he was asked what the chances were of Jerry Manuel being replaced…. I believe it was Mike North on the WSCR… who, more or less, put him on the spot.. His comment was "Every manager we hire is given a roster of 25 players. What he does with those 25 players determines whether or not he is under consideration of being replaced" I'm not quoting verbatim, but you get the general idea.. I find it interesting that the same philosophy has never been applied to Robin… a choke in 2012 and 3 successive losing season, and it's the players who are thrown under the bus, by management... This is the last year though. They choked down the stretch in 2012. 2013 and 2014 can't be held against him. Those were con-compete years. Last year was bad. If this year doesn't end up in a playoff appearance, Robin will be gone.

This whole thing is a joke. The players don't trust Gar Forman. I have no idea how he can remain employed by the Bulls now that this is out there. K.C. Johnson and some of the other shills for the team are painting a slightly different picture but of course they are. They need to remain on the payroll. This thing is a mess. If the Bulls end up re-signing Joakim Noah, I probably won't watch a Bulls game all season.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) I don't remember that on Hawkins. Mitchell, yes. Same with Kevan Smith. Anderson had basketball. But I don't recall Hawkins being in the same category with those other three. Hawkins did play football and pitch in HS

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) Coming into this season, MAYBE. Right now, pretty doubtful. For one of the best young catchers in the game, that could easily shift the balance in any divisional race. Think of this from the perspective of a Brewers' fan. Would you be happy with that deal, when you can see how much Miller, Giles and Kimbrel, for example, were worth (yes, different contract situations)...but he's their most valuable asset and trade chip and they don't have to trade him because they're in good shape financially. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/12492794...roy-needs-raise I'm dumping Braun's deal on the first taker (Cubs/Angels) and locking up Lucroy to a long-term deal with those savings...building the core of my team around him going forward. The Brewers don't want to sign Lucroy. They want to trade him. They also aren't lacking funds and could sign him without dumping Braun.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 26, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) I think we are going to see Anderson a lot quicker than some do. I agree. I actually think he may be in the lineup on the next homestand when Washington comes to town.

How about C Jason Castro and OF Colby Rasmus from Houston? Castro is a Hahn guy and Rasmus is a long-time KW guy. I wonder what it'd cost? Both are free agents at year's end.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 25, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Interesting, because he's now 3-0 through 5 starts with a 3.30 ERA, 3.14 FIP, 3.76 SIERA, 9 K/9, 3.6 BB/9. The Sox didn't want to lose him. They tried to sneak him off the 40 man roster.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) Nice article, I have a feeling people will get fixated on the 5th starter comment by KLaw I don't think Hudson is a #5 but there are 10 players in the draft better than him and the White Sox pick 10th.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2016 -> 02:58 AM) I won't comment on what you said because my opinions are well known on the matter and my love of Ozzie got me suspended before because of my behavior in threads about Ozzie. Let's just say I disagree. LOL there's nothing for you to disagree with here. It's literally what happened. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) Next up in our draft profiles: RHP Dakota Hudson The Sox have been tied to him, and he does profile with their traditional take, in addition to being probably the best college arm who'd be available at 10. Probably my worst case scenario.

QUOTE (Lillian @ May 26, 2016 -> 07:36 AM) Regarding a potential trade with the Brewers, this might be of interest: http://brewcrewfever.com/2016/05/24/trade-...s-braun-lucroy/ Both Braun and Lucroy are discussed and the Sox included as a possible trading partner. Therefore, sketchy as the article is, it is relevant. The Brewers want young affordable pitching. They would not likely target Anderson, because their #1 prospect, Orlando Arcia, is also a shortstop. Arcia is ranked 2ND, among all SS prospects, by MLB.com. I'd do Adams and Michalczewski for Lucroy for sure. Brewers probably wouldn't though.

Fire Robin. Bring Back Ozzie. Do It Now
Y2Jimmy0 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 25, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) This team doesn't care because it takes after the personality of its manager. We need leadership for these 25 players who gives a damn about winning and losing. Every team goes through a few dry spells each season, but ours last longer than most as we don't have a manager who will throw gas on a spark and light a big ass fire. Ozzie is the answer and its time to stop pretending that Robin can get the job done. I loved Robin as a player, but he's truly one of the worst managers to ever wear a uniform. The fact that this team has the record it does shows that we could run away with the division if we had just average leadership. Come on JR, don't you want another world series title on the south side? Than do what is necessary to make it happen. So with a different manager and the same players, would the Sox still have 24 games with 3 runs scored or fewer?
