  1. Great post. The Dodgers are able to do this because they’re the best development org in baseball. They draft, sign and develop talent consistently while picking in the back of the first round every year. They have lots of cheap players which allows them to flex their muscles. Theres parity. It’s baseball. If I gave you the Dodgers or the field to win the 2024 title, who are you taking?
  2. I think it's a short-term fix too. They want to play really good defense next year if they're going to be bad. It helps the endless amounts of young starting pitchers who will make cameos. They don't want to play "small ball" long-term. Nobody actually wants to do that. Power is just expensive to acquire.
  3. They’ll very likely go underslot in the first round because everyone likely will in the 1-4 spots too. It’s a smart strategy to go under in 1 and over in 2 when you don’t have compensatory picks. I trust Mike Shirley. Just let him make the recommendation and get Jeremy Haber out of the room.
  4. I think it’s a big mistake if they don’t. Where is the offense coming from?
  5. Beckham is an analyst. It’s not even the same job
  6. I’d be shocked if Kelenic were involved. I also don’t think it’s the Braves. It would’ve been done already if it were going to be Atlanta imo.
  7. We saw what the asking price was from Reds according to Levine
  8. I'd still say Baltimore because it makes the most sense but I'm not sure at all. AA doesn't trade for Boras clients because he likes to extend players immediately after trading for them. They don't have any Boras guys I don't believe.
  9. Was this recently or from his notes column last week? I thought Atlanta too but I honestly don't think it's them. They just don't have enough I don't think. It would always be really out of character for AA.
  10. I’d be surprised by Hader. That would cost them their 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th rounder plus $2 million in int space
  11. I checked with Romero on this. Cruz had been rumored to Cubs for like a year and at a lot more money than $1 million. I think he might be wrong. Herrera is fun though.
  12. I just don’t see a word where Braves offer beats Reds, Dodgers or Orioles. It also doesn’t really fit AA’s MO
  13. I’d be very surprised if they’re still in. Doubt they commit another $30 million AAV to one guy. I don’t think Cohen gets outbid here.
  14. I think this is very alarmist and hyperbolic. The White Sox aren’t leaving Chicago.
  15. Meh. If the Sox could consistently win their shitty division of small market teams, theyd get plenty of attention
  16. I mean, ok. How do the Cubs stop the White Sox from competing against Detroit, Minnesota, Cleveland and Kansas City? Jerry Reinsdorf living another 10 or so years is the worst thing that can happen.
  17. Why would that bother me? The Cubs and White Sox aren’t rivals. I’d also prefer the best player on the planet playing here in Chicago. That would be awesome. Way better than on the west coast. I’m pretty certain he’s not coming here though.
  18. The White Sox are expected to make a selection. Pitching would be my guess
  19. This would be a haul. Rhett Lowder, Chase Petty, Carlos Jorge and Sammy Stafura was the asking the price. Hello!
  20. They fell to 6th but they’re still eligible next year
