  1. Nobody should be understanding. Jerry Reinsdorf sucks.
  2. You just can't look at this way. They didn't have $54 million to allocate elsewhere. That's not how they operate under Reinsdorf. They basically had $30 million to spend. Hendriks is $11 million of that. They can't just take the full value of Hendrik's contract and allocate it for 2021. It doesn't work that way.
  3. They can get the best reliever in baseball for $54 million. The best players at other positions cost a lot more. That's my point. They play at the very top of the market for catchers and relief pitchers.
  4. Tony wanted him. It's one area where they can acquire elite players due to the low price point. They think Crochet is a starter. I'm just dubious that it ever happens.
  5. I understand it. Don't want to waste innings at an alternate site when the club is trying to win. I have my doubts about how it works long-term though. There's no doubt in my mind that Kopech is a starter in 2022 but I feel Crochet will be a reliever forever at this point. He won't have the innings base to convert to starting and you'd need to pull him from an effective bullpen role to do it while trying to win championships.
  6. We're playing football currently.
  7. I think Lamb will be on the team in place of Mendick
  8. It has to be for him to be on the team
  9. I don't really think Lucroy makes any sense. They'd have to clear a spot to add him and they already need spots for Vaughn, Lamb and Hamilton. Collins is the backup catcher and Grandal will likely DH when he's catching. Yermin has more power on the bench. I also don't believe Lucroy has an opt-out so this makes sense. I just didn't see them doing it.
  10. I don't think there's any way that the White Sox would take Jud Fabian. They didn't take Jeren Kendall who was very similar. 30% strikeout rate in college is brutal.
  11. You said that the cheap group wouldn’t pony up for Marco’s guy. That’s nonsense
  12. This isn’t true lol. Sox offered him $1.4 million. They probably should’ve offered more initially but he took $1.5 million from Washington at a later time. There was no negotiating. Just unfortunate. The takeaway should be that Marco Paddy identifies talent Yes. They’re both tremendous and would’ve been anywhere.
  13. They aren’t moving Vaughn to the outfield because they have no outfield depth. They’re moving him to get Collins in the lineup and see if it’s functional long-term because they have a Jose Abreu problem.
  14. They need to get him stateside before signing. For whatever reason, Cespedes is stateside now because he was living in Florida. Vera isn't because he was in the DR.
  15. It's not going to happen. They have Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal and Andrew Vaughn. Eloy Jimenez has to play the outfield. He really needs to just not try as hard as that is. Play the grounders, catch fly balls hit to him and that's about it. Moving to DH permanently is a non-starter.
  16. As of right now, Turley might be on the team. He’s out of options and is an Ethan Katz guy.
  17. Jimmy Lambert and Kopech are probably the next guys up until the Sox trade for Kevin Gausman at the deadline
  18. They loved Soderstrom last year. I think Harry Ford moves to the outfield though ultimately
  19. Yeah. He can get you out of a game. And then if someone needs a DL trip, you just call up Mendick. What function would Mendick serve on the roster otherwise? Maybe at 3B I guess if Moncada needed a blow. That's probably the only use though.
  20. I'm not assuming Mendick is on the roster. He's not necessary.
  21. Keeping Mendick is pointless. He's not really the 2nd option anywhere and he can just join the team in a pinch if necessary. Collins at least offers a LHB.
  22. I'd probably move him to CF right away but the Sox would likely let him try to catch. He can play catcher. There's just no reason to do so if the bat is as good as advertised
  23. I know they've taken prep pitching in round two of late but I still don't see them doing it in round 1.
  24. I think Lucroy and Collins both make the team.
