  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) I was looking at the same thing yesterday night...heck, I would probably even take Dubon if I could get Brinson and Hader. We could really use a LHP coming back. I agree. The Brewers have a ton of interesting positional guys who could be a third piece. To me, Hader would be a huge get as the #2, simply because our need for LHP. Even if he doesn't make it as a starter (and I'd give him every chance to become one), he'd still be incredibly valuable coming out of the pen.
  2. Let's get this back on track. If the Brewers are the favorite, then a deal has to be built around Brinson. Add in one of their well regarded arms (Hader, Woodruff, Ortiz) and another interesting positional prospect (Diaz, Clark, Erceg) and I think you have a deal that works. To me, the dream return would be Brinson, Hader, & Diaz. That addresses multiple organizational needs while providing us with two major league ready prospects.
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) Spencer Adams isn't a favourite when people list their future rotations but he might be one of the safest bets. I see him as close to a surefire 4th/5th with the K% deciding if he ends up better than that. I 100% agree. I really think he can be a quality #4 caliber starter that eats innings. There's plenty of value in that.
  4. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS Spencer with 7 K's through 4 Was just about to post this. Kid has really stepped it up this year.
  5. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) Potentially, although I'd be hesitant to give up on Anderson at SS just yet, I mean we've seen him be a plus SS at the major-league level. This year has been a big setback alright. I'm just not sure the bat will play unless he's the SS defender we saw last year. Which is why I'd go: Anderson - SS Albies - 2B Moncada - CF
  6. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) If Frazier gets traded, Davidson will shift to Third, and Delmonico will be the new DH. If Frazier doesn't get traded, we won't see Delmonico until September. JMHO Frazier will be traded before the Aug 1st deadline.
  7. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:06 PM) I love Brinson, but if he's coming, then the secondary pieces will probably be underwhelming. Yeah, based on raBBit's comments, I would expect Brinson and some underwhelming secondary pieces.
  8. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Plus McMahon is probably more of a 1B than a 3B anyway, so that further diminishes his value. I read something today about him potentially being athletic enough to play 2B, but I doubt that would be pretty, especially for a team that should/does value infield defense.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) Rankings aside, I'd argue that McMahon is the best prospect in that deal I'm really not a McMahon fan to be honest. His AAA stats scream outlier to me and he's never really been that good otherwise. From a pure talent standpoint, I'd argue Pint is the best prospect in the deal.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) Outside of Albies/Acuna/Maitan, I agree. Their pitching prospect depth is good but I'm sure we'll (rightfully) be targeting position players, and they may not give up any of the big 3. Zero chance we make a deal with them without getting one of their big 3 bats. Acuna may be off limits, but the other two guys are probably fair game.
  11. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:37 PM) Yeah, they never made much sense to me. Freeland, Hoffman and Gray look like long term starters there, and Chatwood, Anderson, Marquez have shown flashes. Which of those guys do you expect to lead a long postseason run? They don't have a single starter who has ever gone 200 innings. That's a recipe for disaster IMO. And given that Blackmon is a free agent next year and Arenado the year after, I'm not sure I'd waste a prime opportunity to make the playoffs and put my club in a position to succeed once getting there.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) I don't think the Rockies trade for Q. Are they just being used as leverage? Who do you think the favorites are at this point?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:30 PM) Tapia, McMahon and Pint would be a good deal. With that said, I don't think Rockies trade for Q. Change Tapia to Dahl and you might have something there, but no way I accept a deal where Tapia is the best prospect.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) Agreed and the guy on twitter reporting the Braves interest isn't exactly listing big prospects as possibilities. What's his name and who is he listing?
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Carmen DeFalco‏ @CarmenDeFalco Some Q stuff; from source, "stating to feel like it won't be long. Braves making push since weekend. Brewers and Rockies, too." #WhiteSox Which is funny, because it's ultimately three small/mid market teams after him. I'll give Hahn credit, the Brewers & Rockies probably weren't willing to commit the prospect capital this offseason to add a guy like Quintana. Their fast starts and open paths to the playoffs have made them buyers. The Braves have obviously been interested for a while, but hopefully having a few other teams in the mix pushes them to offer something that we'd actually consider. Really surprised the Yankees are sitting on the sidelines for now if the rumors are true. This is getting really exciting and I'm starting to think the Rockies are the team that lands him. He looked incredible in Coors last week, the Rockies desperately need a starter who has the stamina to pitch deep into October, and their front office is a little bit crazy. With a couple key guys only under control for another year or two (Blackmon & Arenado), it's really now or never for them to make a big move with this core.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) I didn't know he played the infield. I didn't know Collins did either But seriously, I thought you were listing all the high end positional talent in the system.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:26 PM) Moncada Albies Anderson Burger Abreu Sheets Collins There's a lot of hope to find in there for a good up the middle defense and some dynamic bats / speed to build your future infield plus a DH. You forgot Robert bro.
  18. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:16 PM) "For all the freaking out in March, April and May of a missed opportunity - there is no shortage of suitors talking Quintana with #WhiteSox." - raBBit I hope I look like a complete asshole when it's all said and done. Getting this trade right is absolutely critical for the rebuild and hopefully Hahn was right for waiting.
  19. Maitan is so far away and our org struggles with developing hitters. I think you have to consider him a distant third out of the three guys. Acuna would clearly be the prize, but I can't imagine the Braves giving him up. I like Albies but I'm not sure I'm enamoried with the idea of him as the headliner. The one nice thing about the Braves is they have a ton of secondary pieces. If I were Hahn, I'd try to get an offer like Albies, Anderson, Fried, & Riley from Atlanta and shop that to teams with a true blue chipper and say top this or Quintana is going to be a Brave. Again, while I'd ultimately prefer a better headliner, that trade has a ton of talent and is one I could ultimately live with. But I really think someone would come to the table and top it.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) With all of the other trades the White Sox have to be making before this deadline, I just can't see them being able to put together a deal that accurately reflects the value of Kahnle from their point of view. Yeah, I'm starting to lean that way too. It's especially hard when you're dealing multiple assets of the same type, as Hahn will be doing with Robertson & Swarzak definitely being shopped. I think Hahn will listen to offers, but would ultimately have to be overwhelmed to move him. There is logic in letting him be the closer for two months and believing his value may skyrocket in the offseason if successful.
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) Robertson to the Cardinals for Sandy Alcantara, Magneuris Sierra, and Johan Oviedo Q and Melky to the Yankees for Torres, Rutherford, Domingo Acevedo, and Freicer Perez Frazier to the Red Sox for Blake Swihart and Trey Ball Holland to the Astros for Yordan Alvarez Swarzak to the Cubs for Aramis Ademan Kahnle to the Brewers for Trent Clark, Kodi Mederios, and Nathan Kirby Yordan Alvarez just missed BA's mid-season top 100 list. No way you are getting him for Holland.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) Sorry for those who see that there is recent post and are let down after clicking in here lol But who takes over for closer when Robertson is dealt? Trying to get a jump on fantasy baseball to add another closer. I personally think it will be Kahnle unless a team overpays for him in July. Will definitely be Kahnle with Jones out for the foreseeable future. But if they were to deal Kahnle too, god only knows who the next man up would be.
  23. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) I'm thinking of keeping Q passed 2019 in the sense that I think we could sign him to an extension and have him apart of the future. But for me, we need the bats. And if a team offers some top hitting talent, I think we have to take it. But keeping Q for the rebuild, if we're able to turn some other guys into decent pieces, would be ok with me. The problem is we're not going to get a ton for our guys other than Quintana & Robertson. I think Frazier might be able to land a prospect in an org's 6 to 10 range, which is fine but is not really going to move the needle. Everyone else should land even less IMO (at least with the guys guaranteed to be moved). And signing Q into his mid 30's seems like a poor use of resources. We have a ton of pitching depth in our system and for better or worse we need to find out exactly what we have. Down the road if we do have a gap, then you sign a veteran to plug a hole, but for right now I'm going to assume we can build a quality rotation around the young guys we have today and the guys we may at the deadline.
  24. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) Would like to see a Robertson trade sooner than later because I think what we could get for him (Plus maybe throwing in Kahnle or Swarzak) could really determine how badly we need to trade Q. Lets say the Nats give us Robles and a lotto ticket for Robertson and Kahnle. Then we could get some decent pieces for Cabrera, Frazier, Swarzak, Gonzalez and Holland. Do we then hold on to Q for the rebuild? We're not getting Robles for any of our relievers. Rizzo will be able to solve his bullpen woes by using Fedde, Soto, Kieboom, & other lesser pieces. But let's say we did, keeping Quintana doesn't make any sense. We need to turn him into mutliple pieces, with one or two of those pieces having star quality. We aren't winning anything with Quintana in 2018 & 2019, so why forego all the value we could receive in the interim?
  25. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/report-c...michael-fulmer/ Didn't see this posted here but if this was a 1 for 1 offer, what a joke. I still think Schwarber will become a very useful player, but ultimately he'll end being a non-elite DH and that's not worth a quality young starter. Theo really botched this IMO. He should have traded for a young cost-controlled starter a long time ago as it was clear his rotation's performance was unsustainable. Now several of his core assets have lost a lot of value. If he was proactive, he could have gotten something pretty damn good by packaging some combination of Baez, Schwarber, & Soler (and change). Now he'll have to give up Happ or Jimenez plus several other pieces to land a desperately needed starter.
