  1. Definitely will be Lopez tomorrow, otherwise why would he be skipping his scheduled start today when Charlotte themselves have a double-header?
  2. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Not sure what's going on with Martes' severe control issues this season but I'd take that offer then and now. Even if Martes and Paulino end up as bullpen pieces, I REALLY like Tucker's potential and the idea of plugging him into an outfield alongside a similarly aged Luis Robert. 100% agree. I wanted a Martes/Tucker headlined package all offseason. And honestly, Paulino would have been a nice 3rd piece even if we'd positional player. My guess is this offer wasn't available or Hahn would have taken it.
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) Again with your assumptions. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet that I know, am friends with, and have worked with far more people from far more diverse walks of life than you have in glorious Indiana. I don't need to list my resume for you, because I don't think you care and I don't need your validation, but the hilarious irony here is that you continue to make massive assumptions about me while criticizing the "assumptions" you think I'm making about a particular group of people. Good god dude, you can't make a single point without being a pretentious douche.
  4. Completely random, but the comments section over at SSS is really annoying to read through. Trying to see what the Sox might do with Covey & his spot in the rotation and every other post is some stupid joke or philosophical rant from posters trying demonstrate their wittiness and/or superior intellect. Thank god for Soxtalk where the talk is much more focused.
  5. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ May 25, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Charlotte's doing a Game 2 after a 6:05 start? I noticed that too...bizarre.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2017 -> 10:12 AM) Lopez was scheduled to start today, before the rainout. Game 2 has tbd. Is he getting called up for the double-headed tomorrow?
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 24, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Q had thrown five good games in a row. Today was not one of them. The Sox to me are looking tired. They've come back to make a game of it a lot of times but never enough to get over the hump. I just think all these road games are catching up to them. Yeah, I hate seeing lines like today's, but Quintana was pretty damn good for five straight starts before this one. Just got to hope he can return to form for most of June & Jule and get his numbers closer to recent levels.
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:36 PM) Brother you ran away once others started criticizing your stance and you could no longer defend it. Please. On another note, I just got out of my Political Communications class, and we talked about "if you're explaining, you're losing." I gotta start framing my arguments in a way that I don't need to do damage control after the fact. So thanks y'all! If you don't want to constantly do damage control, stop being a douche and talking down to everyone. We all get you live in big fancy New York City, but that doesn't make you an expert on all political & social issues. Stop making assumptions about the rest us and assuming we know less than you. Maybe you'd actually learn something if you actually listened to raBBit and tried to understand his experiences rather than screaming "white privilege" every time because they're diffent from your own.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 23, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) Fulmer still has the same stuff he had coming out of college. Difference is that AAA hitters aren't swinging at the stuff out of the strike zone like the college hitters were. This is it what I heard.
  10. I really think Frazier is going to heat up here in the near future.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Not surprising. Just that so many of them were hyped as being "sure things" that their organizations would never dream of trading. The pendulum swung too far the other way in the last couple of years. They were probably overvalued, and that might turn out to be a mistake for some of the teams that could have used a huge upgrade for their rotation like Jose Quintana. That's all. My point is it's way too early to jump to any conclusions. Some of these guys may have been overvalued, but there's no way we can say that right now.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) You guys realize hes only starting because Rodon and Shields are both out, right? With a string of good Lopez starts, he may be up soon. Yeah, I fully expect Lopez up before the end of June, which will most certaintly be the end of Covey if he's still around. And honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if tonight is the end of Covey (at least as a starter) with someone like Matt Cooper getting a look. Fulmer really blew a great opportunity to be first man up with those two s***ty starts.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) OTOH, with the exception of Bellinger/Judge/Josh Bell/Happ....all those hugely hyped "franchise/untouchable" position players like Dansby Swanson, Bregman, Trea Turner, Schwarber, Renfroe/Hedges, Gurriel, O.Arcia, Russell, O.Herrera, A.Garcia, Odor and Buxton have struggled mightily. Even Leury is outhitting Benintendi, fwiw. Young players typically struggle at first, why is this so surprising to you?
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) Romero was really good for awhile, then the wheels just came off. Fwiw, watch Happ turn out better than a Benintendi...he can run a lot better than advertised, too. Dude, slow down on the Happ hype. He's no doubt had a fast start to 2017, but he's not a Benintendi prospect at this point.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) I can't believe you can type something like this and not see the naked racism in it. The vast majority of poor black households work for a living, not deal drugs. This is the exact thing I am talking about with your ignorant stereotyping of people you know nothing about. Poor black kids aren't drug dealers. They don't need to deal drugs. Most people in this situation work real jobs to help out their families. How you can call your self moral and compassionate and still post stuff like that is beyond me. Thank you for calling that out. I'm literally embarrassed to call myself a liberal after reading that nonsense.
  16. Here are my top 10 starting pitching prospects in the system as of 5/13: 1. Kopech 2. Lopez 3. Fulmer 4. Giolito 5. Dunning 6. Hansen 7. Adams 8. Stephens 9. Guerrero 10. Cooper That's a nice group of pitching prospecta and there are some decent ones that just missed. Got to love our pitching depth right now.
  17. Call me crazy, but I think things finally start clicking for Giolito tonight.
  18. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 12, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) He has looked good so far. 5 IP on 66 pitches, one walk. Edit:thought he had 5 innongs but in fact had 4. Seeing Fulmer succeed like this shows that it isnt too late for Giolito. Exactly, Fulmer lost a lot of status after last season but so far has been pretty damn good this year.
  19. Snipperclips is awesome. Perfect game to have a couple drinks and play with your wife.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) Have a batch of prospect injury updates, from various sources... --Alex Call took swings in the cage earlier this week, and is close to a return --Victor Diaz went to DL with shoulder soreness, and recently had a setback. Is rehabbing in AZ. --Jordan Stephens is throwing in Ext ST, should be back soon. --Corey Zangari had Tommy John surgery, so he's likely out for the year. I keep forgetting about Stephens, can't wait for him to be back.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 12, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) Too soon to write off Giolito based off a bad first 6 weeks. I don't think he will ever become a frontline starter, but he's still very young and does have upside I think the Yankees, Braves and Astros have a better farm system overall than we do. The White Sox are likely #4 or 5 overall right now. Signing Robert and having a good draft could go a long way to improving that though Even with Robert, the system is going to fall quite a bit due to Moncada, Lopez, Fulmer, & Burdi getting called up. Hahn will need to add some serious talent at the deadline if he wants to keep our top 5 ranking.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 12, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) Delmonico gets the call soon to replace Soxtalk's bastard step child, Cody Asche. Next one after that I think will be Brian Clark. I don't think the big pitching names like Lopez, Giolito and Fulmer get a chance at a call-up until some starting pitching is dealt and could use more time anyway. Moncada is worth the wait so however long he takes is fine with me, no rush. Who is Clark replacing in the bullpen?
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:24 PM) I have a feeling it will be Fulmer too. Hopefully the Sox can pull off a deal with Holland or Gonzalez and Fulmer steps into the open slot. Did you forget that Covey & Pelfrey are currently in our rotation? Fuller should be up as soon as he strings a few more quality starts together.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2017 -> 10:32 PM) Great showcase by Robertson Yup, hopefully that Nats scout was impressed!
