There are a good six or seven guys who should be moved up from Kannapolis to high A. Hansen, Morrison, Booker, Fisher, Remillard, & Zavala have no business being in low A IMO (I get why Zavala is there though). And I could see an argument made for Roman & a few of the other pitchers as well. Getz really needs to push these guys up in the coming weeks.

Caulfield, I honestly have no idea what you are arguing anymore.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) His fundamentals are below average at SS. Range is great but is sloppy on the routine play. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 28, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) I heard he was pretty bad defensively in the minors. Then when he came up last year I couldn't believe how good he played. The way he's been playing so far this season is more of what I expected of him. The Sox defense is really going to take a hit when Moncada replaces Sanchez at 2B. Yikes. He's 23 years old. To think he's a complete product defensively is crazy to me, especially when he has all the tools necessary to be a strong defender and demonstrated that as recently as last season.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) Hahn supposedly told Stoney his ideal preference for 11th pick is college hitter From a need perspective, that makes the most sense. And I have a feeling they take a high-schooler in the 2nd.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 28, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) I won't go that far. Dude was really good last season. Bad defensive seasons happen. This...totally this. I can't fathom how anyone would automatically assume Anderson would be this poor of a defender going forward. Like you said, he was awesome last year and the metrics agreed.

Doesn't Sale pitch pretty poorly when he's amped up?

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 27, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) White privilege gangs is one of the funniest things I've ever read. I also lived below the poverty line for the first six years I was out of college. I still had white privilege in the way I was perceived in day to day life. No matter how poor you are, you're less likely to be pulled over by police, you're less likely to be arrested for minor crimes, and you're less likely to be convicted and sentenced to harsh penalties because of your skin color. That. Is. White. Privilege. So for the millions of whites that never commit a crime how is that a privilege exactly?

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (bmags @ May 27, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) Headed to Dash tomorrow. Any one know who is pitching? Banks is tonight. Looks like Thompson per milb.com. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ May 27, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Let me summarize: If Chicago White Sox says "the average black person has more challenges than the average white person" we're cool, but I should avoid generalizations. Cool. I said that the average black person faces more challenges while you accused all us white people of being privileged. I'm sure everyone here can see the difference.

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 27, 2017 -> 08:21 AM) This is the kicker right? Starting out a mile ahead in a marathon doesn't inherently mean you know how to run it. And it doesn't mean you're guaranteed to beat the people behind you. All it means is you got a head start, and if all other variables are equal, white people have a head start over a person of color at the same socio-economic level because of societal attitudes and implicit biases. Again, you speak in absolutes & generalities, and couldn't be further wrong. There are plenty of universities & companies that discriminate against white all in the name of diversity. If you are a person of color with talent and/or strong credentials, I'd argue that in today's corporate environment you actually have an advantage over a similar skilled white person. The value of diversity is screamed out at every business school across the country and most companies are actively pursuing it now. If you ever had a real job (aren't you model when you're not leading the Resistance) you would know this. The average African American no doubt has more challenges than the average white person due to economic factors that restrict opportunities & education. I don't need statistics to tell me that more blacks suffer from poverty than whites and I know well that poverty is a viscous cycle that holds back opportunity for years to come. But there are plenty of whites who also face these challenges and do not start off "a mile ahead". These people deserve the same compassion as the African Americans you fight so hard to support. Again, using blanket generalizations is working against you and makes you come off a know nothing know it all asshole.

Tilson coming back soon perhaps?

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 26, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) You should see my abs. And just when I thought you couldn't be any more awesome! I guess being white has its perks.

Danish to be recalled for DH start
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) Welcome to Tanksylvania. Population, White Sox. I think the population is a lot bigger than just the White Sox. -
We're going to have an uphill battle to get a top three pick. Lot of bad teams in front of us. Obviously I'd rather have some breakout performances and a pick in the 4 to 8 range than the opposite.

Caulfield, what do you look like? Are you athletic? How's your singing voice? Those are the true indicators of white privilege per Mr. Awesome himself.

Covey to DL, Minaya recalled
Chicago White Sox replied to Thomas_Ventura_Roberts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 25, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) Volstad? It's Danish, and it's a stupid move. No reason for no Lopez. Has this been announced? -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) I hope he can play a position with passable defense because his bat is going to play in the big leagues. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 25, 2017 -> 05:34 PM) No idea why the sox just don't put him in LF and leave him there. Unless his range at 3B is so good and he just makes bone headed errors (ala Jose Valentin). From all reports though, he's a butcher over there. Yeah, LF seems like his best bet, but they must see something in him that makes them think 3B is still a possibility. I agree with flavum that the bat will play in the majors.

Holy s***, Delmonico with another HR!

Covey to DL, Minaya recalled
Chicago White Sox replied to Thomas_Ventura_Roberts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Definitely will be Lopez tomorrow, otherwise why would he be skipping his scheduled start today when Charlotte themselves have a double-header? -
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Not sure what's going on with Martes' severe control issues this season but I'd take that offer then and now. Even if Martes and Paulino end up as bullpen pieces, I REALLY like Tucker's potential and the idea of plugging him into an outfield alongside a similarly aged Luis Robert. 100% agree. I wanted a Martes/Tucker headlined package all offseason. And honestly, Paulino would have been a nice 3rd piece even if we'd positional player. My guess is this offer wasn't available or Hahn would have taken it.

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) Again with your assumptions. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet that I know, am friends with, and have worked with far more people from far more diverse walks of life than you have in glorious Indiana. I don't need to list my resume for you, because I don't think you care and I don't need your validation, but the hilarious irony here is that you continue to make massive assumptions about me while criticizing the "assumptions" you think I'm making about a particular group of people. Good god dude, you can't make a single point without being a pretentious douche.

Covey to DL, Minaya recalled

Completely random, but the comments section over at SSS is really annoying to read through. Trying to see what the Sox might do with Covey & his spot in the rotation and every other post is some stupid joke or philosophical rant from posters trying demonstrate their wittiness and/or superior intellect. Thank god for Soxtalk where the talk is much more focused. -
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ May 25, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Charlotte's doing a Game 2 after a 6:05 start? I noticed that too...bizarre.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2017 -> 10:12 AM) Lopez was scheduled to start today, before the rainout. Game 2 has tbd. Is he getting called up for the double-headed tomorrow?

May 24 game thread Sox at D-backs
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2017 Season in Review
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 24, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Q had thrown five good games in a row. Today was not one of them. The Sox to me are looking tired. They've come back to make a game of it a lot of times but never enough to get over the hump. I just think all these road games are catching up to them. Yeah, I hate seeing lines like today's, but Quintana was pretty damn good for five straight starts before this one. Just got to hope he can return to form for most of June & Jule and get his numbers closer to recent levels.
