Really need a strong performance from Q today!

You forgot Dan Jennings, who will be traded if he's a decent season, as there is always a market for left-handed relievers. He is also controlled through 2019.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) Homer for Delmonico. Probably my third favorite minor league hitter after Moncada and Collins Definitely my third favorite hitter after those two. Can't wait for him & Moncada to be up in a few months. The major league is going to be a ton of fun to watch once those two plus Lopez, Fulmer, & Burdi are all up.

The velocity is dissapointing for Giolito, but the K's are somewhat encouraging. I think it's way too early to panic about the velocity decline though. Let's give him a chance to work through his mechanical issues.

Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
Chicago White Sox replied to Dunt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 05:23 PM) As I wrote, "when it's (the season) is over." The Sox need to admit they were wrong on it and cut their losses. He's going to be 26, he's had multiple chances, he's not going to get any better. I'm sure there is at least one kid in the minor league system that the organization doesn't know a lot about, who should get a shot. With Garcia it's "what you see is what you get." Mark No offense, but this is just a bunch of lazy BS. Don't do the generic "there's got to be someone better" crap. Look at our AAA depth chart and tell me who should get a shot right now in RF. I'm no Avi fan, but right now he is the best man for the job. That may not be the case in a couple months, but until someone shows themselves worthy it should be Avi's job to lose. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) I think value wise, he could ultimately be a poor man's Zobrist. Good contact skills, good eye, a bit of pop, and he's athletic enough to play around the diamond. His walk on base skills haven't shown up as much at the majors yet, but I think they will over time. He's worth keeping around. This is what I've been saying for a wild now. He won't be nearly as good of a hitter as prime Zobrist and it seems like his OF days may be over, but the fact he is a good to great defender at 2B, SS, & 3B gives him plenty of defensive utility. With consistent playing time, whether at one spot or across the infield, I honestly expect a 3 WAR type season from Tyler.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Jon MorosiVerified account @jonmorosi 11m11 minutes ago #Astros need for rotation help increases. RHP Collin McHugh won't throw for 6 weeks; posterior impingement of his right elbow. @MLBNetwork QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale 18s19 seconds ago More Now that #Astros Collin McHugh is shut down for 6 weeks, only natural to wonder if this could re-start Jose Quintana trade talks w #WhiteSox Just got to hope the internal options struggle. If so, I have no doubts Luhnow panics and comes crawling back to us sooner rather than later. He should be under some serious pressure at this point to deliver a winner.

I don't care if this comes back to bite me, but I think Saladino is a legit everyday major leaguer player. He's a much better hitter than a lot of posters give him credit for.

QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) Crazy to think they could've had Bryant and Rodon or Schwarber over Appel and Aiken. I mean, didn't the Aiken pick end up turning into Bregman? If so, I'm sure they'd rather have him than Rodon or Schwarber at the moment.
-
QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) How did he not make the big club over Asche? He need regular playing time in the field and he isn't getting that with the Sox until Frazier or Melky is traded.
-
Nicky Delmonico is a f***ing beast.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) I have confidence in them pursuing Ohtani. The Sox were very much in pursuit of Tanaka and were reported to be in the final mix, which means they had to have a $100M+ offer on the table. We can only land one or the other, so my point is you don't pass on Robert where you have a slight edge over the competition for a guy who would be forgoing a f***ton of money by coming to the states next season and who may have no interest in playing for your organization.
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) Maybe not. If they traded Frazier I would assume Delmonico would be recalled. The question then would be, who does the organization think has more of a future, Delmonico or Davidson. I am assuming options ultimately made the decision breaking camp. I would hope Delmonico, as I don't think Davidson ever becomes more than a platoon/bench piece due to his contact issues.
-
If you can land Robert, you do it. Definitely take advantage of the Cuban connection if possible. There should be zero confidence in our ability to land Otani.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) The Dodgers have like 8 guys who are projected to up 2+ WAR/160 IP. They won't be interested in Quintana. Who are the guys and what are their projected WAR/innings?

As someone who is incredibly anti-Trump, I think Donald deserves some credit for this response. We can't sit by and simply let this f*** Assad commit war crimes on his own civilians. Hopefully there is more to come here, because Syria needs to be addressed one or the other.
-
Easily the weakest rotation of the four full season clubs, but shouldn't last that way for long. Several guys from Kannapolis could see quick promotions, including Hansen & Dunning. Throw in Luis Martinez once he comes off the DL and the Dash hopefully have an exciting pitching staff before year-end.

Pretty terrifying to think there are millions of Gregs in this country.

The reality is we can't keep ignoring North Korea, but Trump being the one to deal with them might be scarier than the actual threat itself.

Opening Day 4/4/2017 - White Sox vs Tigers

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 05:20 PM) I watched the first few innings to see everybody bat once at least and see Q get hammered. --Pathetic crowd as expected. That's all on management. -- This team is going to lose so many games it'll make our heads spin. How the hell is Hawk going to broadcast road games for gawd sakes? He's used to a team on paper that is a contender. -- I would assume this would be a great season for folks to get great seats on stubhub once the weather turns and spread out and enjoy the food of the Cell. There won't be any fans getting in your way in the aisles, etc., for years to come. Absolutely no reason to follow any of these players except Anderson. Have we ever had a worse starting rotation on paper? Ever a worse defense on paper? Blah team speed. Wow. I stick with 59-63 wins max. Maybe less. Who the hell are we going to beat with this pitching staff and this offense? And this defense? So we're a 59 to 63 win team as currently constructed, but with a solid DH & CF we'd be in the thick of things? I pray to god you're a troll and not the alternative, because otherwise I'd feel bad for s***ting on you constantly. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) If I had tickets yesterday and go in with those, could I still turn them in for another game as well?7 I thought everyone who went yesterday automatically got into today's game for free plus got a ticket to another game of their choice. -
Pods will be on CSN pre/post game

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 03:15 AM) I wonder if he could do play by play. If so move, give Benetti his walking papers. Let Steve Stone do the pre and post game analysis. Perhaps a tandem of Scotty Pods play-by-play with a color commentator like Geoff Blum or AJ. You are quickly becoming the new Greg... -
