Cease To Padres per Passan
That is way too light. That’s closer to the price of one of those guys vs. two.

Cease To Padres per Passan
So what are your thoughts on Crochet and a potential trade with the Orioles? With Burnes all but gone after the season and a need for an impact SP for the playoffs this season, Crochet seems to be the perfect addition for you guys. However, the challenge becomes the price and Elias seems to want to win trades more than he wants to win championships. IMO, a Crochet trade requires a centerpiece of Holiday (least likely), Basallo, or Mayo (most likely). If I were Elias, I’d easily offer up something like Mayo, Beavers, & McDermott, but I’m guessing the bulk of your board would pass on that deal.

7/5: Apparently we are playing Miami in Miami
It’s only a thing because Harold is saying it’s a real possibility. I personally don’t think there is any chance it happens because the idea is absolute insanity, but can’t completely rule out it if Harold is actively championing for it.

How is what not constantly remembered?

7/5: Apparently we are playing Miami in Miami
I guess I’m still hoping that part of our past failures were because of Rick Hahn being incompetent in many areas and not being able to figure out how to solve or at least convince Jerry to invest in them. Getz may or may not be more of the same, but using Robert to dump Benintendi’s contract so we can go out and sign someone like Anthony Santander would immediately provide an answer to that question.

I’d 100% boycott the team until Jerry dies if this were to happen. It’s literally the single dumbest thing we could possibly do if we ever want to be serious about winning a championship again.

It would be an absolute abomination and prove that Getz is just another Reinsdorf patsy.

Way too early too say at this point. Ortiz looks great so far, but we got to see a larger sample. He’s walking at an elite level and well above his career norms, so some regression is likely coming with the bat at least. If he’s really a 4.5 win player, then we both whiffed badly on him.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
Yes, just mocking Harold for thinking dumping Benintendi’s “god awful” $55M contract is more important than getting high-end prospects for Robert.
-
Story on Sox trade possibilities...
Correct. At least with Robert, it sounds like mediocre prospects is all it will take if someone is willing to absorb Benintnendi’s contract.

7/5 Games
Baldwin already 2-2 on the night. Colson 1-2 so far while Dominic Fletcher is back and has hit a bomb.

7/5 Games
Wolkow with 2 BB’s & 0 K’s through three PA’s. OPS currently sitting at .874 as a 18 year old in A Ball.

7/5 Games
Lucas Gordon in desperate need of a promotion. Five innings of two run ball so far brings his full season ERA up to 1.89. 5 K’s & 0 BB’s, but gave up a two run blast. I get there is a logjam, but I can’t imagine he’s in Kannapolis much longer.
-
7/5 Games
Gowens excellent so far in his Barons debut. 5 K’s, 0 BB’s, 1 H, & 0 R’s through four innings.
-
7/5 Games
Sean Burke was super strong through three before being pulled in the fourth. The stuff appears to be fully back as he hit 97 on the gun while I was watching and struck out six in 3.1 innings (getting K’s on his 4 seamer, curve, & slider).

Weird that Cease’s career ERA of 3.88 is nearly identical to his career FIP of 3.78…?

What would you need from them to make that trade?

Who will be traded by the deadline?
There is zero chance DeJong isn’t moved.

Who will be traded by the deadline?
Honestly, I think someone acquires Flexen for rotational. In some ways, he may be a decent guy to pair with Crochet if you’re looking to temporarily ramp down his innings until the playoffs. I don’t disagree that he won’t command much, but soaking up innings above replacement level has some value to it. As for Soroka, he’s been good as a reliever and is only owned $1M for the final third of the season. I’m less confident about him getting moved, but don’t think the money will the primary factor. Honestly, I could see the Sox holding him if they don’t at least get a Grossman type return.

Who will be traded by the deadline?
You don’t think Flexen gets dealt? Obviously it wouldn’t be a big return, but I think he 100% is traded for something.
-
Who will be traded by the deadline?
I would trade Andrew Vaughn for anything of value if I had the chance. He is a guy I just don’t have faith in to hit enough to commit to long-term.

Way too early to call Ramos a bust bro

Who will be traded by the deadline?
I voted for 10 players to be traded by the deadline. Guys that are 100% being moved IMO are Fedde, Flexen, Kopech, DeJong, & Pham. While Fedde and Kopech aren’t rentals, I think it’s obvious the former’s value will never be higher and that the org is probably over dealing with the latter. As such, I think we are looking at a floor of about five guys being moved. Beyond that, I think we see three more relief pitchers moved as long as the value is there (Brebbia, Banks, & Soroka). That leaves Robert & Crochet as my other two choices and while not 100% slam dunks to be moved, I think the market will be there and at least one team will pony up for each of them. There are a few others who could be moved, with Steven Wilson and Mike Clevinger the most likely. I just feel the Sox hold Wilson for one more season to enhance his value given his length of control and worry that Clevinger won’t have enough runway between now and August 1st to build interest. Unfortunately, I don’t see markets for the other positional guys. If Moncada were back by the deadline and we were willing to eat the bulk of his salary, then I’d vote for him as well but right now his status is a massive question mark.

Who will be traded by the deadline?
As we’re roughly four weeks away from the trade deadline, I wanted to see who people thought would likely be traded by August 1st. As such, I’ve created the following multi-choice poll to get people’s thoughts on both our pitchers and positional players who will likely be shopped, even if some of them probably have negative value and would require taking a bad contract in return (ex: Benintendi). That being said, please vote for all players you expect to be moved and not who you’d personally like to see traded. For reference, the Sox traded seven players last year and while that was a lot, it seems like this year could blow that figure out of the water.
