  1. We got frame jobbed there
  2. What did he do this time?
  3. Holy shit we’ve been two hit by the god damn fucking Tigers. If they don’t come back in the 9th, it’s time to clean house.
  4. Yup, might need to make an exception this year.
  5. Because they may feel he won’t turn it around in NYC. And let’s not forgot Pollock was a 3 win OF last year, unfortunately his inability to play a quality RF makes him an imperfect fit for us even if he returns to form offensively.
  6. Exactly, which is why Lowe would be an interesting acquisition despite a down season and his current back issue. He probably isn’t even available and the price would likely be too high even if he was, but you just never know with the Rays.
  7. That’s probably true, but shooting for ways to add a left-handed 2B.
  8. Those HR numbers are embarrassing
  9. Also, don’t see Colas getting moved unless he’s the headliner for someone like Bryan Ramos. Hahn has struggled to acquire a quality left-handed power bat in recent years (outside of Grandal) and our minor league OF depth isn’t exactly super promising at the moment. I think Montgomery, Colas, & Vera are more or less untouchables, with guys like Sosa & Ramos more likely to be moved.
  10. Trade Pollock for Gallo Trade Sosa+ for Brandon Lowe Tim Anderson, SS Andrew Vaughn, DH Brandon Lowe, 2B* Jose Abreu, 1B Eloy Jimenez, LF Joey Gallo, RF* Luis Robert, CF Yasmani Grandal, C# Yoan Moncada, 3B# May not be realistic, but would certainly be a more powerful lineup against RHP
  11. Pretty wild to be bottom 5 in both OBP in ISO. And that’s with Jose posting a career best 12.0% walk rate! Sox should be proud of this accomplishment.
  12. The Sox had the 7th best wRC+ in June at 115. This was a significant improvement vs. what we saw from March to May, where we ranked 25th overall with an 88 wRC+. However, below are our splits in June (left of pipe) and from March to May (right of pipe). BB rate: 6.5% (28th) | 6.4% (30th) K rate: 22.2% (17th) | 19.8% (5th) ISO: .128 (26th) | .124 (26th) HRs: 20 (27th) | 41 (23rd) BABIP: .351 (1st) | .275 (25th) GB rate: 45.6% (4th) | 45.9% (5th) LD rate: 20.1% (18th) | 18.3% (29th) Oppo rate: 27.1% (6th) | 26.6% (4th) Hard rate: 28.9% (23rd) | 26.6% (28th) As you can see above, most of these metrics remain directionally same. Yes, our line drive rate improved to middle of the pack, but our hard hit rate rank didn’t change all that much and our ISO was nearly identical. The reality is the bulk of our improvement is likely due to batted ball regression. The sad reality is we remained the groundball, opposite field heavy team that only hit 20 HRs in the month of June. The Yankees for reference hit 58 HRs this past month. We can’t expect to win this division when we play half our games in a HR heavy ballpark and rank in the bottom in key power indicators. A team wide change in approach is desperately required and Frank Menechino should be fired immediately in hopes of salvaging this season. We can’t afford to wait any longer with injuries and Tony also key factors holding us back. A change at hitting coach is needed and needed now.
  13. Glad I missed this game or Tex would be calling me a hate filled monster right now ?
  14. Why not just avoid the thread if it bothers you?
  15. The order of operations for Montgomery should be simple: Keep him at SS as long as he looks be solid average there If at some point Anderson agrees to an extension, maybe consider moving him to 3rd (dependent on proximity to the majors) Don’t move him to the OF unless both SS & 3B are blocked for multiple years, Montgomery is more or less major league ready, and there is a massive hole in the Sox’s OF Given Colsen probably needs another two years in the minors at minimum, there is zero reason to consider moving him to the OF.
  16. I just don’t see a ton of options that are any better. And at this point, I’m like to hang on our top prospects and hope for some Braves like magic with Gallo.
  17. Sorry Stone Pony, but Graveman should be able to close out a three run lead.
  18. I think it was reported that Tony pushed for Kelly and then a deal came together fairly quickly.
  19. Gallo has struggled this year, but moreso against RHP. Platoon him with Engel and I’m pretty confident it would be an upgrade over what Pollock is providing offensively and it doesn’t require you play someone incapable of handling RF. It’s a gamble no doubt, but one I’d happily take given the age differential to your point and the wild card that is playing in NYC.
