  1. Steamer projects Manaea to have the 21st highest fWAR amongst all starting pitchers. He is a very good SP but I think his lack of overpowering stuff with keep his price down some. That being said, he certainly won’t be cheap.
  2. Not so bold prediction, but I think Manaea is a member of the White Sox within the next 72 hours.
  3. Two random nuggets on Pollock’s contract that I haven’t seen reported: Sox are covering a $1.5M assignment bonus as a result of the trade Pollock’s $10M player option can increase to $15M based on plate appearances this year
  4. If the Sox can somehow acquire Manaea, it almost certainly pushes them to third overall in projected fWAR after the Yankees & Dodgers. Get it fucking done Hahn!
  5. So assuming Sheets is traded or in the minors, what’s our primary lineup going to be against RHP?
  6. Probably didn’t have much else to do during the lockout but good for him
  7. It’s spring training and he’s a veteran, why does he need to play with fire right now?
  8. Two top prospects plus Sheets is a massive overpay IMO. Like you said, Ramos could be a top 100 prospect as soon as July. Thompson was an overslot 2nd round pick who got a $2.1M bonus (Chase Petty got a $2.5M bonus and was the sole return for Gray). And Sheets hit RHP very well last year and actually passes the eye test from a quality at-bat perspective. I’d actually downgrade my offseason score if they gave up all three of those guys for Manaea.
  9. Oh that I could see, but seems like they’d give him a few weeks as a long man. As horrible as he looks right now (and it’s really bad) it’s still just spring training. Not sure they eat $18M that quickly.
  10. I think he’s starting to convince me of that
  11. You think they’d cut Dallas if they acquired Manaea? Can’t see it happening.
  12. The price of Manaea is skyrocketing by the second
  13. Yup, Manaea is just not the type of pitcher to command a ridiculous haul as a rental.
  14. Collins has options, Zavala does not. That keeps him alive for a bit longer.
  15. I’d trade one of them plus other things for Manaea, but just not both of them when it’s still very likely one of them could see a decent amount of playing time this year. And I think both is a massive overpay relative to what other rentals have gone for IMO.
  16. TBH, I wouldn’t be against using Dallas as an opener for Kopech if all six guys are healthy and let him pitch once through the lineup. Then when someone goes down he slides in as the #5 starter.
