  1. I agree there have been some questionable pitching decisions, but I would add the lack of pitching talent / depth has made Venable’s job much harder. I think we wait and see when he’s got a stronger staff to truly assess him in this area.
  2. Maybe you don’t realize this, but Vasil’s teammates begged for him to travel with the team. He could be collecting a payback at the comfort of his home, but instead he wants to be there for his teammates. And right after this s%*# went down, his manager immediately supported him. But thank god you’re here to police the clubhouse and scream at clouds from afar.
  3. 2B typically don’t return all that much value in trades.
  4. You mean twice? The other being two holes pitches more than today.
  5. What is the archetype? Fast and defensively versatile? That’s great if he can actually hit some…just not confident his last 20 PA’s are all that predictive. I obviously hope he proves me wrong.
  6. He’s not stretched out to go longer.
  7. And to be clear, the bunting is a problem. This defense whining is mostly a function of the roster Venable has inherited.
  8. 0.9 fWAR from our pinch hitters, which is the best in baseball. But hey, that shouldn’t stop anyone from ripping the manager of a currently playoff bound that was never expected to be this good and is riddled with injuries.
  9. They hopefully will when Murakami comes back.
  10. Wow, a reasonable, well thought-out post on the matter. And to your point, even public defensive metrics are split on Colson with OAA believing he is one of the best SS’s and DRS having him negative on the year. Maybe there is a bit more nuance to it than the loudest poster on this site would have you believe.
  11. What a fucking joke of a response. Can’t even attempt to think through the big picture and just assumes whatever pads Colson’s fWAR is best for the team.
  12. What defensive alignment would you prefer post pinch hitting?
  13. Alright, gonna go full rosterbate mode here, but let’s say you add Detmers, Gray, & Chapman… Lineup: S. Antonacci, LF* M. Murakami, 1B* M. Vargas, 3B C. Montgomery, SS* K. Teel, CA* B. Montgomery, RF# A. Benintendi, DH* C. Meidroth, 2B T. Peters, CF* Bench: IF: J. Gonzalez* OF: E: Pereira OF: R. Grichuk BC: E. Quero# Rotation: D. Martin R. Detmers* S. Gray S. Burke N. Schultz* Bullpen: CL: A. Chapman* SU: G. Taylor SU: B. Hudson* MR: S. Dominguez MR: S. Newcomb* MR: W. Gonzalez MR: H. Smith* LR: T. McDougal That team is legit capable of winning a World Series this year.
  14. We aren’t trading any major league ready pitching for anything but major league pitching that is better suited to help us win now. I’d love another draft pick, but we already have a massive pool and can get a fuckton of talent regardless.
  15. Sure seems like it…may the baseball gods take mercy on our souls
  16. What’s your view on Detmers? He was a pretty hyped prospect, but never has been this good before in his career. Is his performance not sustainable?
  17. I definitely would not trade low on Carlson, but the question becomes is this trading low? If this version of Detmers is legit, then getting 2 1/2 years of him for Carlson and the other two pieces is a good deal for us. That’s really comes to scouting and I haven’t seen enough of him to have strong convictions either way. I do think that Carlson is worth substantially more than Shelton though and if a bad Angels team is blowing things up then they’ll prefer the higher ceiling talent no doubt.
  18. The MLBTR Podcast discussed what the White Sox should do at the trade deadline. They felt out of all the surprise teams this year that the Sox made the most sense to buy. They believe the lineup is legit and basically is complete 1 to 9 if Peters can continue hitting. SP is the major need thing and they through the same idea I had in Sonny Gray. They feel the prospect cost will be low if a team takes on money including his buyout. Really seems like the move to make.
  19. Saw this trade proposal online. Would you do it? Would the Angels do it? CWS get: LHP Detmers & RHP Bachman ANA get: SS Carlson, RHP Lacombe, & CA Graterol
  20. Would have to be a three teamer with some club that wants prospects. I don’t see how we can from the major league roster right now.
  21. Making it about himself? His teammates bought him the stupid wand. They absolutely love the dude and what he’s doing. Absolutely bizarre that Sox fans are trying to make this into something that it’s not…
  22. You tell me. You said this is one of the worst teams in the MLB pre-season and somehow they have the 3rd best record in the AL and 9th overall in baseball. As such, I guess we can attribute close to 10 wins to the magic that Vasil brings to the clubhouse.
  23. @WhiteSox2023 hates team favorite Mike Vasil over a magic wand but is creepily in love with PCA (worse than Harold with Kelenic) despite telling a fellow Sox fan to “suck his dick”. Make it make sense…
