It’s just both. You can be all excited because he’s expected to be our worst position player but he still has all the young, scenery, upside rah rah. Or you can think “wtf. This guy has 1000s of PA of mediocre- what more do you need to see? Why didn’t they find a better RF to insulate the team from some slow rookie starts and regression?” personally I’m expecting the latter, excited for the possibility of the former, but also thinking its worth the gamble for 1 year.

But, it’s just sports. It’s entertainment. I get being critical or skeptical of decisions etc...but caring too much or demanding any accountability seems really silly. Team success and failure is cyclical and I get that some teams are run way better than others...but mentioning the past track record seems super pointless, since CLEARLY this is a new direction. It looks like Hahn & KW have set this club up for one of the more dominant runs in the history of the game- you don’t even have to squint to see the potential anymore. It starts this year. It starts now. It’s fucking awesome. . Anything short of pure excitement is absolutely baffling to me. There’s plenty of room over here for you brother.

Agree completely. I just love batting average. Guys with high BAs are typically the most exciting players for me to watch. When PK figured it out for a bit right at the very end...that was a thing of beauty.

Plenty of decent reasons to think the breakout is here. i spent close to 10 offseasons rationalizing that Beckham & Avi JUST HAD to take a step forward THIS year. I can do it again with Mazara!

By WAR this actually looks like it’s easier for the Rays side of it to rack up the WAR than the Cards. Arozarena and Martinez Dhing looks like an easy 15 WAR, maybe 20 over the next 4-6 years? Thats a bunch of WAR to hope Liberatore ends up accumulating considering how young and far away he is. Plus the Rays just snagged a way better draft pick and pool. They can draft another Liberatore in 5.5 months.

Eh. The population has also increased by anywhere from 125-150 Million people since then, all manufacturing has went overseas, and technology has all but wiped out the need for 10s of millions of middle management positions. But yea, let’s just take the easy answer and dump it on trickle-down economics.

Not singling you out at all, you just had the most recent post rehashing the common Rentería complaints. I’m just curious what the bar needs to be set at for anybody to STFU about him. His lineups bothered me, especially with Yonder, and then some of the bunting was brutal- same obvious complaints as most. But he’s calm with the media and seems to have the clubhouse buying into his style, whatever that is. Everyone has to be curious how he’ll do with a good team- the experiment is all set up. So if he’s successful ENOUGH, however each person measures that, some ShuttingTFU will have to be in order.
