  1. For Baltimore? These Orioles aren't the pushovers that they've been for the last 6+ years - they've got some kids that can really play. On the season they're also outscoring the Sox by 14 runs.
  2. Yeah, we need to line up Cease with the day games, and make sure Giolito does NOT get day games. Gio has expressed how much he hates them because he can't go through his full routine, and that was before he got shelled for 8 runs or whatever it was on Marathon Monday in Boston.
  3. Yes please, I like the catch-all threads even though I think they fell out of favor with some of the mods.
  4. Also that we could only muster 5 runs out of those 3 HRs. Hopefully the hitting mentality has changed some and we can get on base.
  5. Only comment here is about moving Beni up. Grifol was on record sometime the past week saying he doesn't like to tinker with lineups too much, like to get guys in a slot and let them get comfortable there. I personally like that approach rather than the lineup blender we've seen in the past. Obviously Day 1 lineup doesn't mean we can't change things and adjust, just saying I don't think we'll see lineup shakeups just for the sake of moving things around
  6. Opening Day, have to ring it in in style! So what's everyone grilling tonight? I've going with the Italian sausage with peppers and onions, and potato salad on the side. Throw some popcorn into a commemorative helmet and wash it down with a couple of Goose Islands to complete the experience.
  7. I think part of that is because they were so hyped up the past two years and it didn't materialize. There were a lot of prognosticators picking us as World Series contenders. The players bought into that hype and didn't live up to it, and a few of them have admitted that the team got complacent after reading their own press clippings. I think this year will be different. Hopefully they're out to prove themselves.
  8. That very well could have been true as well. If you're going to make the claim that someone will make the Hall of Fame, you're probably going to keep it going for a while. The draft night thing was him making the claim that of anyone drafted in the top half of that night, Beckham was going to be the best player to come out and had the best chance of being a HOFer.
  9. Looks like they've been trying Remillard all over the field; he was at SS a day or two ago as well. He only had 3 games in the outfield (all LF) in Charlotte last year, now starting in RF. Think they're trying to see what kind of utility player he can turn into?
  10. Billy is batting .095 with a .174 OBP. .317 OPS. My gawd.
  11. I'm concerned that he'll try to compensate so he doesn't feel it as much when he swings, but then that will put too much strain on other muscles and cause another injury.
  12. Doesn't feel too long ago that they had $1 hot dog nights on Thursdays. Now $5 hot dogs are *special*!
  13. I'm guessing this means Gio throws a sim game to stay on rotation, and that we don't see him for another week. Was looking forward to seeing him throw a few innings.
  14. Yeah, but consider TWTW intangibles Billy brings! I joke, but only kind of. I totally get the argument that you want your backups to actually be *good backups*, but I'm still stumping for Billy as his role as a teammate helps outweigh his negative value at the plate. Now, if he's starting 50 games, yes that's a problem like you said, and our depth is very shallow. I agree on that. Just had to defend Billy's name as I think he has more value to this team that we can't quantify. I firmly believe a bad clubhouse does more harm to the team performance overall than one noodle-armed slapjack hitter that can't hit his own weight does.
  15. I really hope Billy Hamilton makes this team. He's just so fun, and this team needs that. The dugout seemed so much more energetic when he and Brian Goodwin were here. He's our new Yolmer. Wish we had Brett Phillips for that very reason. This team needs an energy guy, someone that is actually *likeable*.
  16. Same could be said for the Rodon contract mentioned in that article, 6/$162M is a lot of scratch. Hopefully for their sake that forearm strain is just a strain...
  17. My guess is that the FO wasn't ready to pen him in as the '23 OD starter and wanted to see what was available on the FA market first. Perhaps another big-brain move thinking they'd get someone like Nimmo or Comforto on a bargain? Idk. I'm not against waiting to see if they could get a FA RF, even if we knew the likelihood was low. We tried (maybe?), didn't work out, Colas starts '23 anyway. Same result, different route. Imagine how ripshit people would've been if we telegraphed that we were punting on FAs when everyone knew how big of a hole we have in RF.
  18. This is the one area I DO trust Cleveland to have success. Until they prove otherwise, I just assume their pitching prospects are going to be a success based on their track record of at least the past 8 years. I've got: 1. Cleveland. Youth, pitching, excitement, and everyone seems to like each other 2. Sox. Loads of talent, too many health/bounce back season variables. Lost Abreu#. 1 if everything goes right, #3 if more of the same. I think the new coaching staff has us close to #1 than #3 though. 3. Twins. Top-heavy talent. As a baseball fan, I want to see Buxton play 150 games. As a Sox fan, I expect he'll play less than 50. 4. Royals. Young talent is fun to watch, will be fun to see Greinke finish out his career in powder blue with a "f*** it, let's have fun" season 5. Tigers. What even are they.
  19. Can you imagine what he's thinking right now with larger bases and limited pickoffs? Great opportunity for him to stick around. All he needs now is to grant the ability to steal first base and he's golden.
  20. That hurt to read more than I expected it to. Damn.
  21. I trust you'll share the link here once it's live, yes?
