I think the front office is holding out hope that it's "just a difficult schedule through April" and "we'll get better when we're healthy in May". DVS points out that we faced the toughest schedule in April and will face the easiest in May. Maybe the April teams' winning % are so high because they've played us and the May teams' winning % are low because they haven't played us yet ? https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/1650948295634612231?s=20 Continue your rate through a weak May schedule and we might actually see some shakeups, but not until then.

4/25- White Sox at Blue Jays, 6:07

Well they see our hitters striking out on uncompetitive sliders every night and they think "hey why can't I do that?" -

Agree again, though that scenario puts us back a few steps in 5 years or whenever we think the team is sold. We're about to start another big rebuild in a year or two (max), and that means a few years of the same front office putting their stink all over drafting and player development in those years before the sale. If I'm a billionaire wannabe-owner, it's more attractive to take over a fresh start rather than a third or fourth restart managed by the same failsons front office. Cohen-lite would be our best option in that scenario, someone willing to spend more to set the stage how they want it. But who else could there be out there with 1. the motivation Cohen had to buy a team and 2. the cash to burn?

This is the type of big-picture total package of moves that an owner makes before selling the team - strip it to the studs, get rid of all of the contracts, and let the new owner(s) build a franchise as they see fit, fresh start. None of this will happen (the trades, firing the top staff, Jerry selling, etc), but this team is primed for this exact type of shakeup with how things sit right now. A smart owner would see this and would recognize the opportunity.

Agreed on this. We'll sign a 36 year old Michael Brantley as the final piece to help us "compete" next year. Sign enough guys to confirm that if you squint you can in fact see a baseball team, but not a competitive one.

Crush me now(2023) or Crush me later (2022)

*Jerry Reinsdorf liked this* We're playing right into their hands, holding on to the false hope that they give us every year that MAYBE they'll get healthy and put it all together. We keep coming back for more and they keep shoveling more of the same crap at us - and we take it. Sox fans have an abusive relationship with ownership and management, and we can't break ourselves from it. -
With this quote from Grifol, I prefer to live in a world where Grifol also agrees that Hahn should be fired.

"Here Comes the Boom" by Nelly https://youtu.be/nqWZqQXk_Ao Unfortunately I have less power than half a Nick Madrigal and I'd be laughed out of the league. Just feels like a fun, cocky psych-up intro to walk out to.

I like walkup songs. They're playing music and sounds thoughout the game anyway, might as well make something personalized for the players. It makes it fun for the fans too. Shane Victorino's walkup song was a Bob Marley song that everyone loved to sign along to, always got the crowd into it. I remember everyone was upset when MLB cracked down on the length of the walkup songs and it cut his short.

4/14 - BAL at CWS - Wells vs Clevinger - 7:10 PM ET

For Baltimore? These Orioles aren't the pushovers that they've been for the last 6+ years - they've got some kids that can really play. On the season they're also outscoring the Sox by 14 runs. -
4/5/23 Giants @ White Sox 1:10 Game Time

Yeah, we need to line up Cease with the day games, and make sure Giolito does NOT get day games. Gio has expressed how much he hates them because he can't go through his full routine, and that was before he got shelled for 8 runs or whatever it was on Marathon Monday in Boston. -

Yes please, I like the catch-all threads even though I think they fell out of favor with some of the mods. -
Also that we could only muster 5 runs out of those 3 HRs. Hopefully the hitting mentality has changed some and we can get on base.

Only comment here is about moving Beni up. Grifol was on record sometime the past week saying he doesn't like to tinker with lineups too much, like to get guys in a slot and let them get comfortable there. I personally like that approach rather than the lineup blender we've seen in the past. Obviously Day 1 lineup doesn't mean we can't change things and adjust, just saying I don't think we'll see lineup shakeups just for the sake of moving things around -
I think part of that is because they were so hyped up the past two years and it didn't materialize. There were a lot of prognosticators picking us as World Series contenders. The players bought into that hype and didn't live up to it, and a few of them have admitted that the team got complacent after reading their own press clippings. I think this year will be different. Hopefully they're out to prove themselves.

Yoan Moncada vs. Gordon Beckham - first 650 games
MiddleCoastBias replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That very well could have been true as well. If you're going to make the claim that someone will make the Hall of Fame, you're probably going to keep it going for a while. The draft night thing was him making the claim that of anyone drafted in the top half of that night, Beckham was going to be the best player to come out and had the best chance of being a HOFer. -

Looks like they've been trying Remillard all over the field; he was at SS a day or two ago as well. He only had 3 games in the outfield (all LF) in Charlotte last year, now starting in RF. Think they're trying to see what kind of utility player he can turn into?
