QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Maybe the big change will be that there's more than 10 thousand folks in the stands for opening day. Mark Really? When has opening day ever been under 30,000?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) If Sandy Hook didn't lead to any major changes, nothing will. Unless pre-cognition becomes a reality, I honestly don't know what changes can be made that could prevent these school shootings from happening.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Have the Cubs won a playoff game since Bartman? How many teams in professional sports have World Championships since 2005? No. 26

I have a Ballistic case that looks like the one below. Seems to work pretty well. I've dropped my phone a few times and there's not a scratch on it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) It's not a bad trip. Stay at one of the major hotels down by the Riverwalk. The Mexican food joints down by the Riverwalk are not bad at all. There are some bars on the Riverwalk and a Hooters as I recall. The Alamo is cool and there are some neat old buildings. I'd take one of those bus tours of the city and make sure you stay down by the Riverwalk. I think there are 2 Marriott chain hotels down there that are fine. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) I hope heads checks in to get all of this great advice before his January 2004 trip!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) Yeah, evidence that the school has harassed the same family before over what seems like similar BS doesn't exactly help their case. I believe the sister was in a different school (but same district) when her incident occurred.

Somehow another thread got split off and it was merged with this one. It's since been corrected.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) There's no danger of him not being a Cub next year, I'm just wondering how that might affect things. I'm still not entirely sure how arbitration works. AFAIK, the player comes up with a number and the team comes up with a number. They each make a case for the number they chose and the arbitrator has to pick one or the other.

I can't believe anyone is really surprised that the school officials over-reacted the way they did. We hear stories all the time of kids being suspended for bringing cough drops to school, or having a plastic butter knife in their lunch bag. Or eating a god damn POP TART into the shape of a gun. I'm pretty sure a kid could bring an actual clock into school and someone would think it's a bomb.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 10:39 PM) Today's game assures Shark of whatever he wants on the open market. Wow. He gonna get 20 million a year for 5 years; bank it. Just hope Sox don't sign him. A single late-season game assures jack squat. Any pitcher can have one really good game. Remember when Humber threw a perfect game? He's not pitching anywhere now.

I'm not sure which story I'm sick of hearing about more. This one or the one with all the nurses wearing stethoscopes.

The beginning of that first video is totally me. I've haven't watched very many of the popular shows. Never seen Breaking Bad, OITNB, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Empire, etc... I think the only shows I'm really caught up on are Last Man on Earth, Mr Robot, The Walking Dead (just watched seasons 1 through 5 within the last month) and Heroes (looking forward to Heroes Reborn on Thursday). I did force myself to watch Under the Dome all the way through. That was horrible. I also watched the full season of The Whispers but nobody seems to be talking about it. Debating if I want to watch the new American Horror Story.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Was that the last time the Cubs and Pirates play this season? Nope. They'll be in Chicago in a week.

I just had to spend $500 getting new brake lines put in. Definitely not a project I could even attempt myself. $400 of that cost was labor.

Levine: Ozzie deserves to manage again

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) Didn't mean to offend/anger. I just recall the Sox and their fans being mighty happy that Ozzie got that deal worked out with Florida. The fact that many were happy to see him gone doesn't change the fact that he quit. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) Everyone has given you a direct answer. ^this -
My biggest problem is the fact that you go in for a $20 oil change and then they find $300 worth of other things on your car that needs to be fixed/replaced. They need to rotate the air in the tires, fill the blinker fluid, replace the muffler bearings, etc...
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Should have double-checked. The morning of July 30th the Sox were 49-50, and the Rangers were 48-52. That makes it worse. That means the Sox have gone 19-25 (.432) since then and the Rangers have gone 29-15 (.659).

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) I used to have a car where you needed to remove a tire to get the filter off. I knew someone with a car like that once. I think it was an Oldsmobile.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:56 PM) Wow! Anyone got an explanation for that? They were 50-52 on July 31. They’ve gone 27-15 since then. The Sox were 49-52 on July 31. They’ve gone 19-23 since then. Although even if the Sox had gone 27-15, they’d only be in 2nd place in the division and one game back for the 2nd wild card.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) It used to be easy to change your own oil, but now the manufacturers can make it more difficult with filter placement. The filter on my current car is incredibly easy to get to. It points straight down with nothing in the way. I don't mind changing my own oil as long as the weather is decent. If it's 10 degrees and there's a foot of snow on the ground, I'll spend the extra few bucks to take it to a shop.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 12:54 AM) People that say he quit slay me. How come that is never mentioned in the media? Cause it's stupid. The Sox wanted him gone and he quickly negotiated a deal. This is big-boy sports. The White Sox did not want him. They chose KW. He bolted. So who cares?? Seriously. This quitting thing baffles me. I've NEVER seen it mentioned in the media. The only thing they mentioned is the hatred of Ozzie/Kenny and all the non-PC stuff Ozzie said to the press. Quitting? That team quit on Ozzie and he merely left. None of you wanted him back for the final year on his deal, anyway. He did you all a favor. Who cares if he quit with a week to go and why is that NEVER mentioned in the media?? Cause it's a non issue to most. ESPN link -
Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) some are willing to give the managers job to Thome on a silver platter Who? Anytime I've seen his name come up, it's because that's the type of guy the FO will hire. Not because that's who the person actually wants them to hire. The typical post is "I'd like to see them hire ____ or ____ but they'll probably just hire someone like Jim Thome instead". -

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Just checking but is that the average of the top 125 salaries for 2015? Yep. I copied the info from the site I linked and pasted it into an excel doc. -

QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) What's interesting in there is that he calculates a qualifying offer at $17.1 million. That's the first I've seen of somebody putting an exact number on it. I came up with $15.5 million. Salary info if anyone else wants to check the math.
