  1. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 05:43 PM) Get a look tonight on MLB Network. Kid's stock is gonna blow up between now and the draft. Should be top 5 pick. Yep. I think Callis has him number two behind Rodon at the moment. Early disclaimer and all, but looks like a pitching heavy top end of the draft. I'm okay with this consider the Sox track record with pitching.
  2. So Beck struck out some dudes for once. In AA no less. I hope to see more of that because his K numbers in W-S were pretty woeful.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Semien walk and homer Two very sexy outcomes.
  4. JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm 1m White Sox are not getting Perez, Jackson or Odor for Rios but if price drops to Nick Martinez it could get done...tick tick tick tock Expand
  5. For whatever reason I never took a look at Francellis Montas' numbers from the Peavy trade. Color me very intrigued. The strikeout numbers are great, the walks acceptable and he's in an age appropriate league. Looking good in his debut tonight so far.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 06:04 PM) The amount they signed was directly tied with the money they spent. You know why? They signed top players in the free agent pool. Thats a serious reduction in what the can spend because it probably wont be a top 20 player for that price. Obviously. But the Rangers aren't "blocked" next year. They are just going to have to spread that money out more or trade away cap space if they want.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) Going over the cap for international signings like the Rangers did this year(signing multiple free agents) means your blocked the next year. No it doesn't. It doesn't block signings. It limits the amount a team can offer to an international prospect to either $500,000 or $250,000 depending on how much they went over their pool. And it has nothing to do with the amount of signings the Rangers made, but the amount they spent.
  8. Hey White Sox. Stop winning. Thanks.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:41 PM) Apollogies. Not needed. Just some discussion there if interested.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) Sickels says Semien could be a regular if he maxes out his tools. Was hoping for a little better write up. Link. Discussed in the Semien thread.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) Semien adds two walks. He's the s***. I'm so f***ing stoked that the Sox have a legit prospect with some plate discipline.
  12. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 8h Texas HS RHP Tyler Kolek. @lukejett10: best prospect for the 2014 #mlbdraft outside of Rodon? Expand
  13. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 9h He is. Could have mentioned him as No. 2 behind Rodon for 2014 #mlbdraft @esteban_s_soto: is Jeff Hoffman a legit 1.1 candidate?

  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) IF he can hit .240 or .250... Are you even reading the article? He says that even if he can only hit .240 or .250 he will still be a valuable asset. He doesn't state that it's his ceiling.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) So the experts are still looking at him as a utility guy ceiling. Utility guy in the sense he can play multiple positions. He could also just play 2B. Sickels states in that piece that he can be a regular starter.
  17. Sickels' prospect of the day. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/8/5/45...icago-white-sox
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 11:36 AM) I'd like him to play wherever he has the most value. If he can be an average CF'er, or even just a little below average, he may be more valuable than he would be as an average to above rightfielder. Agreed. I'll be much higher on him if he can stick in CF. At least for a few years.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) Appel Cosart Folty McCullers Seems to me they'd want a LHP instead of a RHP if it's a close call. If all things being equal I'd agree.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) If Hoffman does end up being the projected #1 and Astros get the first pick, I'm not so sure they take a RHP given their organization right now. What do you mean? They will take an inferior player just because he's left-handed? I don't see that from Luhnow. Similarly, I'd be quite upset if the White Sox passed on Rodon if they thought he was the best player available, due to our current rotation being too left handed.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) Yay! We get some pitcher as No. 1 draft pick in 2014. Just what we need, another good pitcher. Word. Who would possibly want another pitcher that could be a top of the rotation candidate to slot right next to Sale? Who would want extra pitching depth that would allow the possibility of trading for position talent to fill the gaping holes in both the minor and major leagues? It's all quite silly if you ask me.
  22. I still really like Erik Johnson.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 10:03 AM) That will probably change I would think. It will absolutely change. My premature guess though is that there won't be a premium college bat that rises into top 3 consideration. Still soooo early, but this is all we have at the moment. It will be fun to look back on the early posts in this thread sometime next year.
