  1. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) Right...not really understanding what happened there. I think what they are saying is yes, it hit him, but according to them he swung so it's a strike but a dead ball all at the same time... Bonehead play/swing by Davidson.
  2. Watch out for the Phillies. They will be tough to catch, after they just traded two of their players for prospects. Kendrick and Hellickson are gone. Giants blew it vs LAD last night, but they are still ahead in the WIN column.
  3. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) I'm in my mid 20s. Honestly, those statistics match what I see from my age group. Coke is pretty prevalent. Really? I knew a bunch of people using coke in the 80's; thought it was no longer a preferred drug.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) By the end of 2018, some combination of Rodon, Lopez, Giolito, Kopech, Adams, Guerrero, & Stephens will be in the rotation or will be pushing for spots. By 2019 Burdi should be back and in the pen and hopefully Fulmer as well. Therefore, the 2019 pitching staff has a chance to be pretty good. No guarantees obviously, but plenty of talent will be there by then. The position side is a much bigger question mark, but there's a chance that guys like Jimenez & Burger move fast and are up by early 2019. Abreu could still be around plus you should have better versions of Anderson & Moncada. And who knows, there could be some surprises with the fringier guys in AAA right now and potentially a free agent signing or two. I think .500 is a somewhat realistic goal for 2019. This would not surprise me, since Sox will not lose a first round draft pick.
  5. As far as AAA first basemen go, is Gillaspie ranked ahead of Delmonico and Hayes?
  6. QUOTE (JPR @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) Start what? I've been posting on message boards since before you were alive. I was at Game 2 of the World Series. I go by GSHSoldier and ReturnofJPR on many sites. This is like my 11th white Sox board been reading for years decided to show because I'm excited about the rebuild. We are gonna be like the 76ers this season in the NBA but in 2019 instead. Gotta trust the process. In Hahn we trust. 1959 or 2005?
  7. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 07:33 PM) I haven't heard much Benetti, but, man, is he dumb. Ross said he likes how quiet the Cubs catcher is behind the plate. Benetti asked if he meant quiet vocally or in his mannerisms. I hope it was part of a comedy routine.....
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 11:44 PM) Anybody surprised as hell about what Tim Tebow is doing in High A? Through 84 ABs: .310 AVG, .402 OBP, .938 OPS, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 10 BB, 18 SO I know they aren't great numbers but for a guy who hasn't played in 10+ years before this it is pretty amazing what he is doing. Tebow playing at same level as Collins (A+). If Collins had those numbers........ An aside on Tebow. Last week I was in Port St. Lucie, FL, which is where his team plays, and I visited a new, huge condo complex being built there. Turns out Tebow and several of his teammates live there, and the Project Manager there, who is a friend of mine, was glowing in his praise of Tebow. When the team is in town, he works out there whenever schedule permits, always with a bunch of fitness pros coaching him on everything. Of course, everybody there loves him.
  9. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 11:34 PM) Agreed I also find it interesting that Callis thinks the yankee system has the most depth, I personally don't see it(its still really good, but the most?). Additionally they're likely to lose 3-5 prospects in the rule V. As part of the rebuild, Sox will get first crack at Rule V players.
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:07 PM) What happened to Coats? Tampa minor leagues
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 10:03 PM) I'm not sure how any of this has to do with the terrible comp you made. You don't have to like Cordell, but comparing him to Jason Coats is just lazy. What happened to Coats?
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 04:59 PM) You will almost never have an actual tie either. There will be hundredths of a second difference almost every time. Not that it's necessarily visible to the naked eye, just that it's virtually impossible to have an actual tie to the base. I love it when you analyze.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) Phillies, Giants, Reds, Padres, and A's all lost yesterday. Competition is tough.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 08:19 PM) Victor Diaz is fun bad. 3.75 WHIP Yes, WHIP goes up when you get nobody out. Why was this guy even in the Sale trade? Just so Hahn can say he got four prospects instead of three?
  15. Didn't care for Hawk defending the bunt strategy.
  16. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) It is not so simple. Ks are a problem when they come without power. It is always about the relationship between power and contact (and walks). More power means you can afford more Ks. But ideally Ks are not too high. Trout strikes out a lot in a historical perspective but in these days his K rate is merely average. And average contact rate with elite power means you are a very good hitter. However of your walks and power is really elite you can afford high Ks. Adam dunn (in his 20s, not the washed up one in Chicago), is a good example of this. He struck out like almost 30% but he had elite power and even more elite walks. Still of course with lower Ks he would have been better, his ISO and walk rate were basically like trout but his production wasn't. Powerless slap hitting doesn't work anymore though. Lower Ks are always better but only if you can slug the ball. Modern defenders are so good that just putting it in play just isn't enough, you need to hit it hard. So, I understand now that there are no longer any bloop hits, or seeing eye singles through the infield. Got it. Nellie Fox could not play today. Got it. Lillian: You are spot on with your comments.
  17. Cubs smell blood in the water. To the White Sox: Please don't roll over for these guys. Please don't let them break you down like a shotgun. Please don't listen to our Tanksters. Please do something to urinate Cub fans. Please win a game.
  18. QUOTE (buckweaver @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) Jesus! In May, 81-year-old Jerry Reinsdorf spent $52 million to sign 19-year-old Louis Robert. Can we stop typing crap like, "JR being cheap as hell again"? There's no reason to be overspending on anyone who won't be at their peak performance level 2-3-4-5 years from now. Give the owner a break already. I heard that it was repatriation money.
  19. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 06:22 PM) I prefer we send him to some faith healer in Colorado. I might know her.
  20. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) You do know that the Dominican Republic has hospitals, right? Have you been to one? You gonna compare it to the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, or the hospital closest to your home? If your kid is hurt or sick, you gonna send him/her to the DR? Why take chances. If he is hurt, get him over here and fix him, then re-hab him here, and develop him here.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) If "half" the prospects make it, the Sox are going to be the best team in the majors in 2020 and 2021. Wite, you are just making stuff up with that statement. They should de-mod you, then ban you.
  22. Q pitching tonight for Cubs, so Sox won't see him. Good.
