QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) What five do you rank higher? In no particular order.... Mil NYY Colo San Diego Atlanta Houston Boston 2 or 3 others are toss ups. Our top 4 teams are a collective 40 or so under .500. I know, I know this means nothing, but if they were 40 or so over .500 everyone here would be raving, including me. Our first rounders have hurt us, not counting Burger, of course.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 08:59 PM) Tax savings. Now I remember. Tax savings. Robert signs a deal for $26 Million, Sox get another similar bill for some tax, and now the White Sox biggest concern is Robert's tax return. This tax saving concept sucked from day one. Here is what you do: 1. Pay the tax owed. 2. Move to the US. So, instead, this mega - wealthy 19 year old is hanging around the DR with money coming out of his pockets, dealing with whomever, playing once a week on some sand lot. He predictably hurts himself and goes to the local witch doctor for medical attention. He should be over here getting big league instruction, playing as often as possible, and getting better as quickly as possible. But No. We need to save taxes. What do we do to save taxes in 2018? Keep him in the DR again? Isn't this what crazy people do? Same thing over and over. What did Red Sox do when they signed Moncada to similar deal two years ago? They moved him the the US, put him on the Low A roster, and played him. Tax savings. $26 Mill is not enough. We have to save his taxes, too.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) Yikes.. someone with a medical background, what could a "minor injury to meniscus" entail? Ask the DR witch doctor where we will send him. $50 MM outlay and we leave the kid in DR.
-
Someone tell me again, why is he in the DR instead of the US at his age 19?
-
QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 07:31 PM) Maybe it's just me, but these stats are truly mediocre other than Moncada's. I know it's early but the Adam Eaton trade looks like a dud at this point We started the year with what six or seven prospects in the top 100? We add Luis Robert during the season, and now we have only four in the top 100? I know this sounds like heresy, but this Farm System is not in Top 5.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) I think the Braves could put together an excellent package considering how stupidly deep their farm system is. Braves could offer something along the lines of: Pick one: Albies, Acuna or Maitan Pick one: Newcomb, Allard, Soroka, Anderson, Gohara, Wright Pick one/two: Demeritte, Fried, Toussaint, Riley, Wentz, Sims, Pache, Minter, Jackson, Wilson, Muller, Morris I envy the depth that they have across the board. Some combination of 3-4 prospects from the above could serve as a framework for a deal. For example: Albies + Soroka + Pache + Minter/Morris? A costly deal? Yes, but the Braves actually have so much depth that they could afford it. The Atlanta GM is smarter than you think he is.

I saw the Tampa/Bosox game last night. Bogaerts got hit by pitch in right wrist in first inning and was taken out. Lin moved to Shortstop from third Base. I immediately thought that Frazier's trade value went up. Later I read that they are looking at Prado.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes 9m9 minutes ago Matt Davidson's 18 HRs tied w/ R. Kittle (1983), C. May (1969) & Z. Bonura (1934) for 2nd-most in Sox history before ASG. Abreu's 29 is 1st. I remember Zeke. -
QUOTE (zisk @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) It looks like Todd and Melky are getting heated up at the right time. Odds of either being moved soon? What type of return to expect and will their departure help the "tank for Beer" quest? What have you heard?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) I 100% agree and his numbers are still negatively impacted by a low BABIP and not having a real spring training. Frazier is actually a pretty good player still, just can be frustrating to watch at times. I think if Moustakas is off the market, Frazier should net a decent return. And Boston is my predicted landing spot. Disagree. Boston really likes their rookie Lin at third. Solid minor league history of hitting, and he has done really well since call up. They should stick with him.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 11:31 PM) Teams were 0-7 yesterday; 1-6 today. Thank You, Voyagers, for ending the streak. Still Top 3-5?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 09:40 PM) Why do you guys support this front office this much? This is about Shields and how bad he is. You trust the rebuild to guys who think Shields was a smart investment? Why is the media so kind to Hahn? Not to mention The Owner. Jeez, he gave away $20 Million + for Shields (who was hurt at the time) and gave up a kid that they had just paid a nice bonus. You could almost, almost justify a trade between Shields and Eric Johnson. Then Preller said Rick, why don't you just toss in one ofd your prospects. Tatis will do. Rick: Okay, why not. -

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Fernando Tatis Jr. tearing it up as an 18 year in Low A ball. This trade might go down as the worst in White Sox history. 274/.362/.462 12 hrs/14 Sb WRC-131 Since April 21 .300/.391/.511 WRC-152 Scouts are raving about his elite skills and saw one person make a comp to Manny Machado. I know he was 17 years old at the time, but makes me scratch my head to why they included him in the Shields deal. What a mistake!!!!! Part of the re-build. -
If Saladino had a herniated disc, he won't be ready.

QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier! He loses his headgear a lot when he swings and misses.
-
QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) I hate to admit it but I've been watching baseball for over fourty years, and I still don't understand the balk. That one was not obvious. When I was a kid, there were, I think, 14 ways to commit a balk. Not sure now.

Semien still on DL for Oakland. Been a long time.

QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) How could that be? Michael Moore, Oliver Stone and Sean Penn said Venezuela and Hugo Chavez were a modern day utopia. And a paragon for Socialism. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 03:07 AM) Kid gonna have some pressure on him. Chris Sale has been EASILY the best pitcher in baseball. Pressure and baseball go together. Or, are you hinting that there would be less pressure if Sox had gotten more for Sale?
-
Has he earned a call up? He has nothing but solid numbers since he went down to Charlotte.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 09:07 PM) His ability to take walks is a major, plus-plus tool that ought not be ignored. Will that same skill be utilized at higher levels? Don't you think he will be challenged more by pitchers if and when he gets to AA? If he were hitting .300 instead of .200, with power, then you have a point.
-
What kind of deal can Melky get for himself next year? Just wondering.

Ynoa is consistent. Rick Hahn's boy. The guy he insisted that Oakland give us along with Shark.
