QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) The Trey M. Era over before it started. Demoted to WS. That was supposedly one of their scouting coups. Nash and Bueno moved to BIRM to shore up that putrid offense. 13-28. And, he went 0 for 5. Frustrating.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) Compared to Chicago, much hotter and very humid where I live, which is Wuhan, a city larger than a Chicago you've never heard of. In fact, we have two skyscrapers going up at 95 and 86 stories to rival Willits and Hancock. The Chicago skyscrapers wont be empty, though.

Robles' birthday today. 20. Slash line at High A: 255/327/436/763. 3 HR, 7 SB.

I always wondered why Hawkins was included in the Tulo trade with Toronto. He already had announced that was his final season. He wasn't any good any more. But he was Kahnle's teammate....

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) Not saying you thought we would, but no way we were getting anything for Gonzalez for gosh sakes. He's just another guy. Ditto Holland. Ditto Frazier. Ditto Melky. These guys are worth little to nothing. Nate Jones as well. He aint bringing anything useful folks. Unfortunately, you are right. Hopefully, Jones comes back.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) It doesn't make sense for the Mets. The Nats likely aren't going to need the help with how weak their division is. Was it just two years ago when Nats blew a big lead and fell out of playoffs? They should make a bullpen trade with someone.

QUOTE (FT35 @ May 17, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) The Henry Cotto-Ken Griffey Jr Predicament Henry has shown to be an above average fielder and his bat has been awesome this year. How does this impact what we do with Ken Griffey Jr? If Henry keeps it up, how can they move him? Maybe this will help shed some light on this situation?! : ) Henry Cotto. My memory of him is that a long time ago he was sitting on the bench, found a Q-Tip, was cleaning his ear, went too deep and punctured his ear drum, ending up on the DL.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 16, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) Rodgers makes sense. After missing first 2-3 weeks of season, he now has slash line of 405/422/655/1077 in High A. Well, I jinxed young Mr. Rodgers. As soon as I said something nice about him, he goes 0 for 5 with 4 K's.

Just read a report that Kahnle got into it with Latroy Hawkins when they were teammates with Rockies back in 2015. Name calling on the part of Hawkins.

I missed the botched squeeze play in 9th. Can someone please recap it for me? Thanks. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2017 -> 01:06 AM) Worst player in baseball this year. Good thing he's batting 3rd lol. He regressed. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Rockies for Rodgers + is my hope Rodgers makes sense. After missing first 2-3 weeks of season, he now has slash line of 405/422/655/1077 in High A.

Roman had day off for Kanny. Moncada not starting for Knights.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2017 -> 05:25 AM) BS. If you can find the Brandon Allen trade thread, there definitely was a post guaranteeing him a future all star. Here is what happened on the Brandon Allen deal, IIRC. We traded him to Ariz, they brought him up, and he immediately hit 3-4 homers. Then water found its own level, and Allen went away. Then Goldschmidt appeared.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 15, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) The Sox took on slightly less than 1/2 of that contract. $10 million a year. Yes, the Sox gave a solid prospect when Shields was pitching horribly, so if he turns around and pitches decently, the may recoup some of it. Thanks for the correction; you beat me to it.

ESPN's Tony Kornhiser went on a rant this evening on PTI about the Washington bullpen blowing more games this weekend. I don't know if the local media is getting on Rizzo yet, or not.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 15, 2017 -> 01:33 AM) Hindsight is 20/20 C'mon, Josh. This was such an obvious waste of financial resources when the trade came down. We were doing the Padres a Huge favor by taking whatshisname off their hands. Granted, Tatis, Jr. had not yet played in the states, but Sox scouted him, paid him a bunch of money, and before we knew it, he is a legitimate prospect. And granted, the name Luis Robert was not yet on our lips, but there was a lot of talk about signing international talent. There were members here who criticized the trade immediately, not necessarily because of the Tatis inclusion, but because of the other half of the trade.

Last night, several ESPN folks were babbling about Astros having such a great team and were certain buyers at the July trading deadline.
-
$25 Mil for Shields over 2.5 seasons. That money could have gone somewhere else -- maybe signing Luis Robert?

Inning of the year. -
I don't want to throw any cold water on our Giolito songfest, but he was facing a weak Louisville team loaded with low BA's. Just sayin'....... Let's hope he has another good start this coming week.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 13, 2017 -> 07:06 PM) Zack Burdi has been completely dominant at AAA and I've seen his name mentioned about 7 times all year on Soxtalk. Good sign for the system I guess. Burdi is the last piece of the Shark/Ynoa trade with Oakland.

I just hope it is not a Scott Boras client. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 11, 2017 -> 07:09 PM) Same guy who said we're a bottom 10 farm system a few weeks back. So there's that. I think you are wrong, Rowand. I might have said something like that before the two off season trades, certainly not since then.
