7/12 Games
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 07:27 AM) Lindstrom was very mediocre anyway, and Jones had no closer experience, still prefer him as a set-up man for what should be Reed...or reincarnated Jenks...Reed probably could have gave us a dozen more wins this first half alone Hey, I found someone who agrees witn me, but watch out for the onslaught from Mr. Wite.

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 07:01 AM) Sickels just came out with his midseason Top 75 not including any 2014 draft picks. No Sox players on the list. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/7/14/5...te-2014-sickels Geez, the scrubs have five

Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Maybe if we are that intent on trading our DP combo it would behoove us to wait until after the season. I think there is too much pressure mid-season and we might not get a good return. I think Adam Dunn is the exception as far as waiting unless we figure on a new deal at less money Beckham will have zero trade value in off season. No team will want to go to arbitration with him, because that team would then be stuck with the arb award. If Sox non tender him, he is then a FA and will have to sign at a lower salary. Sox get nothing that way. Trading him in July won't get much either, but it creates an opportinity for one for our minor league infielders to get some AB's.

Rienzo optioned to AAA
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) You don't "use an option" on a guy when you bring him up. You use an option year when he is on the 40-man roster and assigned to the minors at any point during the season. So Sanchez has already burned an option year this year and no amount of bringing him up and sending him down affects that. Correct. He was already on the 40 man. I'm pulling for Sanchez big time. This is his 6th year in the Sox organization, starting in the DSL and working his way up, making all the stops along the way. I'm sure he has had his share of adversity, but he made it to The Show. Good for him.

7/12 Games
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) I notice that too, but he's a guy who can hit at a high average and has might have the best contact skills in the farm but that should be something that comes down with experience. I like comparing his stats to Corey Seager of the Dodgers at this time last year and I think that he is doing better. Just curious, Josh, but why are you comparing Trey to Corey Seager?

7/11 Games
Fathom vs Balta. I vote for Fathom. 14 errors is too many. If he can hit at higher levels, his defense will get plenty of attention.

Sox officially sign Rodon
Baseball is different than other industries. Every time a player sets a new a level, the players know it's god for everyone. Not the same for a company that makes widgets.

Jose Abreu general discussion
I bet Abreu will win at least one MVP in next five years. He is reallistically a .300++ hitter, 50 HR guy, etc.

Sox officially sign Rodon
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) While I don't think he is a piece of s***, I do think calling him greedy is fair, and I can tell you that because of this whole thing, he hasn't gained any new fans. Even if becomes an ace in the next couple years, I have no intention of ever buying a jersey of his. Isn't really making himself a fan favorite early. Things can change, obviously. Greed is good. Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 03:20 PM) It's possible the Reds might need a 2nd baseman if Phillips' thumb injury is serious. Beckham would be a good fit there. Update: Phillips out 2 months with torn thumb ligament Another dreaded head first slide?

When do you fire Robin?
When Robin was playing, what were his main gripes about the Manager whom he hated? Bevington?? Can't remember the details.

Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"
His average is sinking like a rock. No team is likely to offer anything of value. He'll be non-tendered in off season and he'll be a journeyman player for a year or two, IMO.

When Does Flowers Get Replaced As Everyday Catcher?
The BoSox players supposedly hated AJ.

7/10 White Sox @ Red Sox 3:05CT
Why does Ace Ventura intentionally walk Drew, who was hitting about .150?

2015 Free Agency
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) I am thinking more along the lines of $40-60 million over 3 years with an option. Teams are wisening up to giving older pitchers long term contracts. $80 wouldn't surprise me, just that it would be a mistake. Wisening???

When do you fire Robin?
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:42 PM) What are you calling Jake Petricka and Javy Guerra? Nothing. It's now the next day; I'm over it. Still a tough loss. I kind of saw it coming when we lose at least 2 runs due to sloppy base running/coaching, but with Sale out there, it should be a W. This is the second time the bullpen has imploded after taking Sale out. Question: Was RV taking him out so Sale would be able to start Sunday with 3 days rest? Maybe I'm not over it.

When do you fire Robin?
After tonight's debacle, I will now call our Manager "Ace Ventura".

GAME THREAD 7/9: SOX @ BOS
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) They showed that he is in attendance. And when they cut to him, he was wiping off either beer that the girl next to him spilled on his leg, or splooge from her J'ing him O. The world may never know. Does he have his own plane yet? Can't see him flying commercial with his entourage.

Garcia cleared for baseball activity
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:42 AM) ' What is everyone's obsession with moving Abreu to DH? He's hitting fine at 1B and you don't know if DHing would affect that and he is also fine defensively out there. Plus his play at first base is good enough and improving. Leave him alone.

GAME THREAD 7/8: SOX @ BOS
Pitchers must like him. Cooper must like him.
