  1. Just saw that Sox big bats not only knocked Wil Lopez out of the game yesterday, but he was sent down to AAA today, inf Rutledge brought up. Would not be surprised to see him in the lineup today, especially if Tulo is hurting.

Hawkins must like playing LF better than CF.
  3. What are the terms of Paulino's contract?

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:17 PM) Amazing how bad Mitchell Boggs is now. Mr. Hahn is probably saying the same thing about both Boggs and Paulino.
  5. Rockies just sent down a young outfielder -- Dickerson. I wish Sox could get him. Kid can hit.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) This board loved Paulino....for reasons unknown to anyone. Uh, not everyone. I saw him pitch in 2011 when the Rockies cut him. He was terrible, and I believe I commented that way. Same with Mitchell Boggs, except I saw him last year.
  7. The Colorado feed on the baseball package refers to Paulino's pitches as "batting practice fastballs".
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) I was talking about Avi Sorry; I thought Paulino was the subject, who, by the way, will probably be left in for 4-5 innings to rest the 12 man bullpen. Avi has got to get it together soon, I hope.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) If he looks like this for over a month, then you have to send him down. Wrong. You release him.
  10. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) Looks like he's the bigger, stronger kid brother, and a switch hitter to boot. We'll need some of that. First baseman, I believe.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Thanks, that looks like a good place to take the wife. She'll love it. Make a reservation. Maiter 'd's (spelling?) name is Mario.
  12. I always thought they should have built a domed, state of the art stadium near Soldier Field. City owned plenty of land there. Could have been done. It would have been great for the city.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) I'll be at the Weds. game. What's the restaurant across the Oxford oldy? Venice Restaurant. 17th St and Wynkoop.
  14. oldsox replied to SnB's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Stay downtown, even if the hotels are a bit pricier. Try the Oxford Hotel. Best restaurant in town is right across the street from it, and the stadium is 3 blocks away.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 09:04 AM) I do wonder if the Sox are safe from relocation. Just based on-- what happens after Reinsdorf dies? And isn't the stadium deal only through 2029? Will the Cell be obsolete in 15 years? Who would be the next owner/chairman? Hypothetical Question (obviously)-- If you were offered the option of the White Sox and Cubs being contracted (both franchises don't exist anymore), and the Rays relocated to Chicago and moved into a new retractable roof stadium that they paid for, and Chicago became a one baseball team city---would you take that offer? Contraction will never come close to being a reality as long as there is a player's union. Oakland to San Jose should have already happened. Tampa to just about anywhere would be an improvement.
  16. Mitchell Boggs imploded for Charlotte, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Has the size of the strike zone gotten bigger this year? It sure seems like it. In addition to the four Sox games to date, I have watched parts of many others, and I think the strike zone grew over the winter.
  18. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) Expand on that please? He already has blown a save for Arizona. It'll happen. He gave up a homer to one of the best hitters in the game.
  19. His defenSe will be fine; plus, he can hit. Fase it, he's the second best position player on the team.
  20. I just have two words. Addison. Reed.
  21. Jones has not gotten an out yet in 2 appearances.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) You guys think I'm a moron for saying this all the time, but Nate Jones' arm delivery is awful. I only saw one other guy throw like that, Keith Foulke. I don't know how any pitching coach can allow him to pitch that way. Some of you guys who were pitchers ... do u agree with me?? His arm delivery is not conducive to anything positive. Ubaldo does it. Omograsso did, too.
  23. Semien is pressing, needs a break.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 04:23 PM) Eaton hasn't had the best of games. He needs an IQ test.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:37 PM) That's the part that makes absolutely no sense to me. You can't just give him 2B because Eaton dropped the ball. That's like assuming Plouffe would have been at 2B. But he clearly wasn't. He was running back towards first when Eaton "dropped" the ball. All Garcia had to do was to walk over and step on second. Once time was called, it was too late.
