QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) Interesting questions and inside looks at the numbers. KW will definitely have an interesting offseason that is for sure. At this point, I wouldn't mind bringing PK back at a discount but if we could have a lefty bat in his spot instead, the Sox may want that. Viciedo brings an interesting dynamic to the table as well because he almost seems ready. We have not seen him against righties and that may change our minds on that, but he definitely can hit ML lefties...no question. To our resident Payroll expert Kalapse...do you see the Sox being able to keep this rotation as is AND somehow get a productive lefty bat? Do they have the finances for that? He has 33 AB's, out of 67, against righties and is hitting .273 with a HR. I'd also trade Danks for Votto, but it would probably take Danks + Viciedo. I'd still do it.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) We saw how careful Ozzie was to let Santos pitch in April so expect similar treatment for Sale. And if Sale responds the same way Sergio did, then that's a scary, scary bullpen. Especially if Jenks and Linebrink can just be decent.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 02:37 AM) I hope he said all that jokingly..... It happened back when Buck was the Texas manager. -
Amazingly, Chris Sale has been on the roster two days and we don't have a thread about him and it seems odd. Anyone know the last time a player got drafted and was up in the bigs before the rosters expanded?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) Ha, I was going to post this exact thing. That is the craziest, quickest ride of ALL F*CKING TIME. I have to go see this thing now. No ride I've ever been on has made me feel an extreme adrenaline rush...minor ones, but nothing great. It's almost a curse. My favorite coaster all around is Rock N' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Aerosmith blasting when going from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds in the dark and being unsure of everything makes it a blast. The Raging Bull is quite fun too.

Ozzie v. Buck Round 2 "[showalter] never even smelled a jock in the big leagues," Guillen says. "Mr. Baseball never even got a hit in Triple-A. I was a better player than him, I have more money than him and I'm better looking than him." -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) I dislike Kotsay as well. But look at the bright side. What if he is getting hot? It would be the right time, woudn't it? He definitely sparked the team today, preventing a difficult loss. We'd have split with the struggling Tigers, rather than bagging an impressive 3 of 4 against a division rival on the road. 3 of 4 is pretty damn nice, thanks in large part to Kotsay. I'm just sayin' ... maybe he'll get hot? I don't know if I actually hate Kotsay so much as I hate how Ozzie uses him and all of this bull***t magical praise he gets for taking up a roster spot when he's been one of the worst players in the AL this year with plenty of starts. Edit: And the fact that there are 3 guys (counting Teahen) who could do what he does, but better.

I HATE YOU BASEBALL TONIGHT. Ravech: Mark Kotsay! He's the kind of play who helps you win divisions. Winfield: Yes he is. He doesn't play everyday but he can play first and the outfield and is very productive. Also, apparently we need to get our bullpen some help???

The 2010 White Sox may be the best team ever!!!

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) We got great starting pitching! We got a great bullpen! We got great defense!!! We got hitting currently above average! We have the best manager in all of baseball! We even have one of the best mascots in the game (Southpaw could kick the Phillie Fanatics ass!!!) Start making the rings now....nobody stopping this World Series run!!!! I'll drink to that!!!! :cheers :cheers "What?" -
What are these statistics and what do they mean?
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Can someone remind me what Kotsay WAR is right now? Yaknow, that useless stat which is routinely proven to be bulls***. It was at -1.0 entering the game and my guess is it's highest is at -0.9 after today.

QUOTE (Hawk09 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Here is the deal.... Thornton sucked today....walked two to lead off the inning? JJ Putz sucked yesterday....did he even get an out? And today he gave up a rope that Alexei miraculously turned into a inning ending doubleplay. Sergio struggled as recently as last week. Hello, gang, Bobby was nasty today, cept for no command of his breaking stuff. If they stick to fastballs,he closes it out no problem. The Twins new closer blew a save this week. It happens. Bobbys stuff is still very good...97mph fastball. The breaking ball to Raeburn was a stupid pitch to call....that is all. You can't be nasty without command of your out pitch, his curveball. Also, QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7285/s...0GeLdKc2TuFCLcF Success and failure for him is the difference between night and day... literally. At least this year anyway.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) He's been claimed by an unknown team. I'd love if it was Kenny just to **** with Rizzo.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Kotsay gets a 1 day reprieve from me. That is all. Bobby, wtf, that was your save and you blow up like that? Come on now. Juan Pierre more and more looking like the 200 (slap)hit man

Who's the odd man out of the rotation next year?
Quin replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd love to see our guys have a 6 day rotation for the extra rest. Won't happen though. -
O. Guillen loves him some Kotsay, so removal is out of the equation

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) TEAHEN CAN DO THAT JOB. Milkman, sometimes I love your posts. This is one. -
Jacksons problem was control and if Coop fixed that we'll have possibly one of the most fearsome 1-6 starters ever next year. Edit: Just watched a condensed game. Jackson was nasty.
-
A bow? To shoot Mark Kotsay with? But kidding aside, Paulie has been amazing and its great to watch. I hope he comes back next year, as even with Buehrle and Gordon around, Paulie is still my favorite player.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) After watching some video clips, sale does not hold his shoulder in internal rotation (W position) near as long as Strasberg. While the mechanics aren't ideal, Sale's tendency for injury is less than that of Strasberg. This makes me smile.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) http://tweetphoto.com/36705995 Haha Brent lillibridge's new pic on twitter. I'm starting to really like him. @ESPY_TEAHEN @JJPutz20 u know how I get out of watching those shows? Just say whatever girl(s) on it are really hot. It works like a charm. That is great.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) Too bad Harrell had to get sent down after that win. After winning the opener today, it would have been interesting to see him go out there and try to win his second game in as many starts. He should have had no pressure after the Game One win and his nice win the other day. Instead we got an ineffective and maybe nervous Torres. Rout. Harrell shall be a cult hero. But seriously, his start was my favorite game to attend in a long time. I want to see him again.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) True. But man. Ellsbury, Cameron, Pedroia, Martinez, Beckett, Buchholz and now Youk are either currently on or spent a considerable amount of time on the DL. I actually think they might be the best team in baseball with a healthy roster. Trade Lester for Herm?
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Think teams try to come up with really ridiculous/hilarious reasons for injuries when they make them up? Mark Kotsay to DL with a bad case of blue balls?
