Prince Fielder Speculation
QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Per Heyman: "chisox like prince fielder but have discussed dunn, laroche and berkman, in that order, as possible 2nd choices." At this point, I'd be happy with any of these 4 guys. This makes me ecstatic.

FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) Ha I have to ask why after a statement like that. Viciedo is younger than Flowers by a couple years and has greatly outperformed him this year. That trumps the value of a catcher. Hmm, I thought I put that I would have had it: Hudson, Sale, Dayan, Flowers, Mitchell. I thought that Flowers would be voted higher (I like Viciedo far more, really don't like Flowers) because he always seemed to get a lot of love for being power catcher.

Putz for Closer
Caulfield laying down great arguments. Also, the return of the Jose avatar! Greg, in the other thread where I said I give Bobby a C, I change that to a C- for a few reasons. 1) We're in a tight pennant race. 2) His three setup men, Putz, Thornton, and Sergio have an A+, A, and A- respectively. 3) He is capable to be a far better pitcher, it just seems like he refuses to as caulfield pointed out.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) What would you have done, Flowers 3, Sale 4? I had Sale at #2 personally. I didn't expect Dayan to be #2, I thought he'd be #4 and Flowers would be 3. I would have had it like it is (top 5 wise), but I didn't expect it to be that way.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) The Sox aren't going to be able to complete a trade with Washington with just the assets in the minor league system. It's going to take atleast one of Viciedo or Hudson. If Williams can prove me wrong and acquire Dunn while not dealing Viciedo or Hudson, and keeping an elite talent like Trayce Thompson in the system, I'll be blown away. I'll bake Kenny Williams a ****ing cake.

Prince Fielder Speculation
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) 1) Putz is not a luxury on this team, he's a necessity. You don't trade him to "get value" for him, because his value is highest to the White Sox. And yes, trading a middle reliever when the only two sure-things in the pen are the reliever in question and one other is absolutely ridiculous. The only two pitchers that I see as being able to consistently get guys out are Putz and Thornton. Santos has stuff, but has gotten knocked around a bit over the past month or so. Pena is a mediocre middle reliever and nothing more. Linebrink can't be trusted in any game the Sox are within 4 runs of the opposition. Threets is journeyman fodder. Jenks has proven to be positively mediocre this entire year. Trading Putz, at this point in time, is absolutely absurd to even consider. 2) Alonso is going to cost significantly less than Dunn or Fielder because he is significantly worse than Dunn or Fielder. You can't use a 10 game sample and declare that a guy has figured it out. Otherwise, Tyler Flowers would be the starting catcher for the Sox. It's entirely possible he got lucky on the balls he put into play during that time period. Further, that line alone tells me I don't want him simply because he's hitting for singles and doubles while drawing the occasional walk (what is that, maybe 4 walks in 10 games?), because an Iso of .079 is Erstadian in stature. 3) The Sox could also afford to go Viciedo-Beckham-Ramirez-Morel. Or Teahen-Beckham-Ramirez-Viciedo. Or they could quite conceivably spend a little bit of money on their infield because they aren't the Florida Marlins. Just because they don't have a lot of money to work with next year doesn't mean they have absolutely none at all. 4) For whatever reason, you assume that I am willing to deal Hudson, Viciedo, and Beckham for Dunn. This is simply not the case. Further, you assume that, if the Sox did, for whatever reason, deal Hudson, Viciedo, and Beckham for Dunn, that they wouldn't go out and try to find replacements from outside the organization, when during Williams' tenure, that's been the main source of finding players. Finally, if Washington is going to deal Dunn, it really should only take one of Viciedo or Hudson (because Beckham is obviously not available) plus other players within the minors, and it may be entirely possible that Williams is able to make a deal otherwise. 5) I would say Fielder is completely out of the picture. The Brewers want pitching badly, and they apparently view Hudson as a #3 or #4. That, to me, suggests that any deal between the two teams is virtually impossible. 6) I don't necessarily believe that Alonso is an upgrade over Kotsay. His numbers in the minors this year, according to minor league splits, translate to a .233/.287/.343/.630 line in the majors. His July would be nice, but then again, Kotsay's had nice splits too. Beyond ANY of this, this is only assuming the Sox deal for Dunn or Fielder. They could easily acquire Luke Scott, Adam LaRoche, Jose Bautista, or Jayson Werth too, and they could simply stand pat and let Teahen DH for a while too. Williams won't make a move unless it meets his price.

Prince Fielder Speculation
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) Putz really is a luxury on this team, Thornton, Jenks, and Santos can handle the seventh eighth and ninth in some order. Alonso may have more of and adjustment than Dunn or Fielder, but he also would cost sognificantly less. He did start slowly adjusting to AAA this year when he was being asked to play LF on a regular basis, in his last ten games his line is .395/.452/.474/.926 so it appears he is figured it out. Putz is gone after this year anyway so you might as well get some value out of him while you can. Trading a middle reliever is ridiculous? Really? With an infield core of Alonso, Beckham, Viciedo, and Ramirez - very cheap - the team can afford to make some other moves. Adding Dunn means more money off the books at the end of the year but leaves holes at 1B, 2B, and 3B next season, unless you are dying for an IF of Retherford, Ramirez, Teahen, and Morel. Fielder would also cost at least Bacon and Viciendo, which means you would have little around him next year either and with his contract could not afford to do much to replace them in the off-season. I am not saying that Alonso is better than Dunn or Fielder, but he is a lot better option for the White Sox when everything is taken into account. He would be a better option at DH than Kotsay and would keep the Sox from having to give up any vital pieces. Lost me there. Putz has been one of the top relievers in baseball. As much as I love Sergio, he isn't Putz right now and Alonso isn't exactly tearing up the minors.

Sox Will Go Closer by Committee
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) If somebody says something personal or ridiculous about Jenks, I'm going to respond. My responses have been in response to others' ridiculous comments. It's ridiculous to read some of the s*** on here about pulling the hairs out on his goatee and not respond. I get why people hate Jenks. Despite blowing two of three saves I still think he has had a good season. In fact, I'd give him a B to B- right now. If you want to flag him, go right ahead. You'll get your wish. Let's just hope Putz is as automatic as the Sox want him to be. I'd give him a C. He's gotten the saves, but looked shaky in a lot of instances. I also had Bobby's back up until this season when he lost me trying to be a complete pitcher despite his great curve & fastball. I didn't like the goatee when he first grew it and I didn't like that he didn't seem to care about his conditioning, but I still really liked Bobby Jenks. The problem is, it doesn't even seem to be a physical issue so much as a he-refuses-to-use-his-good-pitches issue that has me absolutely disgusted with a guy I thought would blow down the Sox all time save record.

I like a bunch of the jumps (like Escobar, Short, Gilmore) but man, injuries and dropping players (like CJ). I did expect Flowers to be 3 and Mitchell to fall a bit.

Sox interested in Jose Bautista
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 08:00 AM) Isn't he right handed? .238 BA? I wouldn't even give them Torres. Maybe Jeff Marquez is all they would get. Yes. I think it might have just been an inquiry and gaging the market.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) If you add Beckham to the deal, could you legitimately ask for Brett Lawrie in return as well? I'm not adding Beckham to the deal, and neither is Kenny. Kenny could have had a lot of players for Gordon, A-Gon, Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, to name a few and has not bit.

PLEASE HELP ME!!
QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) Alright ...here's the low down!! haha She used to be a friend of both of ours on facebook, but we've had some issues with her mother messaging Chase and telling him that she wishes he and ..we'll call her, female!! haha ..any way, telling him that she wishes he would be with female and that she would love him to be her son in law (she already knew we were engaged when she did this) ..then after that, "female" was messaging me and telling me big fat lies. She works at a local tanning salon (the one I go to) ..my mother in law to be, also goes there ..I guess she doesn't know that I see Chase's mother EVERY DAY, she probably assumed I don't since Chase isn't here ...she was talking about me to Rori and of course, Rori told me everything because she loves me to pieces!! LOL ..I confronted the girl, and she lied her face off!! She thinks I'm psycho and controlling ..she can't fathom the thought that Chase excluded her from his life on his own ..she thinks I made him do it ..pfff WHATEVER!! ..I don't blame her for not admitting it to me though ..she's a little 4' 10 and I am a thicky thick girl standing at 5'8" ... ... Her best friend is also the best friend of one of my little sisters and has been since they were like, 10. Recently I noticed that she deleted me from FB but still had Chase, she and Chase do not speak and only ever have because of the other female. When I told Chase that this girl deleted me, he had me delete her from his as well. She had to be snooping around for him to notice that she had been deleted because 2 days later she requested him back and asked him why he deleted her. Then she and I got into it, she thought I was the one who told him to delete her and told me to grow up ..then I went OFF!! I'm considerably more intelligent than this girl and basically made her feel like a complete moron ..I have had zero trouble from her since ..BUT all of this (someone being on his FB and the drama), happened around the same time. Like I said before (i think!!) these 2 girls are the only people besides Chase and myself that have ever had his password. They helped him make his FB a couple years back and he has had the same password since then. That is why I suspect them!! ...I don't think it's beyond them to do something like this AT ALL! I wouldn't put it past female's mother either!! Later on CSI: SoxTalk, we'll examine the evidence and come to a conclusion while this The Who song plays in the background.
