Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Yup. They can't mandate the major league team due to the MLBPA. But the logic with requiring the entire organization (outside Graveman to our knowledge) + minors is that they'll have less concern about outbreaks while calling people up to and from teams.

Spring Training thread
Sorry, I should have clarified. The horrifying thought is to bring them up as a semi-regular player. I guess they'd give Cespedes time to season in AAA, but TLR would get cute and go with "RF by committee" and go with Leury, Gavin, Engel, and Adolfo. There was so much pain in typing that sentence.

Spring Training thread
The horrifying thought that I don't think would happen, but briefly passed my mine this morning as a hypothetical: What if Cespedes and Adolfo continue to hit really well ... and the team feels like breaking camp with one of them instead of getting a RF like Conforto.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Honestly, this probably hurt Conforto in free agency. It's one thing to sign a relief pitcher like Graveman for $24M and risk losing him for a playoff series. Your starting right fielder for $100M (and a draft pick) would be infuriating to lose in a playoff series. And Canada's travel restriction might last that long, since it's international.

Nope. He can't get in the country.

With Correa, Twins now have/had four bigger contracts than Grandal
I like that you include the Twins option years but not Robert's or Eloy's (who isn't here)

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Fuck. Sox are getting real complacent now and the rest of the division is taking notice.

With the NYC Health Commissioner saying the private employee mandate is permanent ... that might hurt the Mets desire to sign him.

1. Sign TLR so he can manage NL-style baseball 2. Sign Velazquez as a relief pitcher 3. Boom. RP in the OF.- Spring Training thread
I love Luis Robert.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Changing any point of the rebuild has such a wild butterfly effect it's all impossible. I once broke it down where basically the only trade you can really, truly undo and still pull off the Sale, Q, Eaton tear down the same way ... is the Shields trade, because Tatis was so young and it happened so much later on the timeline (basically being the straw that broke the camel's back).- Spring Training thread
Dan Johnson?! Dan Johnson. Convinced these dudes have kept the A's in Oakland over the years, despite the teams attempts at leaving.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I believe you, but where can I find fielding splits for seasons?- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Part of Semien not doing SS drills might have been cause the Sox were using him as a second baseman since Anderson was the anointed shortstop. And Semien was not good under Ron Washington.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Montas was a fireballer in the Red Sox system, came over in the Peavy trade. Got developed by the Sox, made the majors. Turned into a Top 100. Traded to Dodgers, throws 16 innings in 2016 in theirs system. They're good, but 16 innings. Traded him to Oakland. Not good in 2017 or 2018. Good in 2019, busted for steroids. Bad in 2020. Great in 2021. The White Sox developed him as a prospect - a lot like Semien. Also like Semien, he was bad until 2019*. J.B. Wendelken and Bassitt didn't take time to adjust. The counter point is that the Sox did fuck all in that time period and it would have been great watching the four of them grow up with the current core (assuming the Sale, Quintana, and Eaton deals pan out the same without the Samardzija, Shields, and Frazier failures goading the rebuild). Edit: Semien put up his first good fWAR (3.9) in 2018. He exploded in 2019.- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
From a pure spectator standpoint, I'd love to see the division of the fandom if Kimbrel wasn't traded and reverted to his 2021 Cubs form. The hot takes at the deadline would be WILD. You'd have a shit ton of people demanding he be traded for max value, others screaming keep him for the Super Bullpen (idk how everyone else is doing in this scenario).- Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Kimbrel being a professional Merkin posting quotes is no reason to get angry. If Merkin didn't post the tweets, he'd be accused of a cover up.- 3/17 Game Thread (1) - Cubs @ Sox, 3 PM, NBCSCH
But let me tell you about why him having a second half slump is why he needs some AAA seasoning or we should trade him for Frankie Montas.- 3/17 Game Thread (1) - Cubs @ Sox, 3 PM, NBCSCH
