  1. And, despite Jerry's best efforts, the Sox have one of the best selling brands in baseball — at least when it comes to hats. A competent owner could turn the Sox into a financial powerhouse by doing things like not low balling Chance the Rapper (see: asking him to work for free) and continuing to get good promotion that way.
  2. C'mon man, I could not have made the sarcasm more obvious.
  3. Reminds me of when they signed Yasmani Grandal to replace James McCann 🤔. Absolutely no confidence in Lee, Quero or Teel.
  4. This is all a master plan by Roki: Make Dodgers prospects decommit and go to the Sox, strengthening the farm system, train at the shiny new DSL academy (off the record), for a year and then he's OD starter in 2026. 5D chess.
  5. Nothing beats the Bryce Harper United Center. I realize that was part of the pitch and not something Harper was rocking, but dear fucking God it's seared into my head.
  6. I understand him not wanting to sell 3 years after a World Series, on the cusp of a return to the playoffs and the Bulls entering the Rose Era (i.e., Jerry was probably feeling good about sports). Now? Not so much.
  7. Jerry: "It's impossible to find a seller." Hobson owns part of the team. "Just absolutely no one with Chicago connections to be found." Ishbia brothers own part of the team and are actively trying to buy an MLB franchise. "Man, Dave Stewart sounds like a good future owner."
  8. “Bare minimum: They’re going to catch the baseball, they’re going to be in the right position and make sound decisions,” Getz said. “I look for players that have high baseball IQ, can direct traffic in the middle of the diamond. On the catching position, they build a solid rapport with our pitching staff and they educate our pitchers and they can make adjustments within a game, postgame, pregame. We’ve got a lot of pitchers that are still developing in their careers or once again have something to prove, and I feel like we’ve got two additional coaches with the catchers that we’ve brought in with Max Stassi and [Martín] Maldonado.” lol
  9. Oh, you definitely go O-Line and D-Line heavy. The only way you could justify Jeanty is if the top O-Line are off the board and they tackle it in free agency. Even then, it'd be a hard, hard sell after the chaos we just watched.
  10. And logically, I agree with this. This team is the perfect setup for him to try and grow. If he can actually succeed, I'll shut up. Just like I did for Yermin until he capsized. I'm just a sucker for homegrown guys. It's why I haven't given up on Jacob Gonzalez despite a giant 🚨🚨🚨 sounding above him. Or Oscar Colas — last year was perfect for him to try and get a shot at the big league level, but since he wasn't a Getz acquisition we had to bring Tommy Pham aboard to shadow-box his way into being a trade throw in. As for the Dodgers not disclosing something, that's what physicals are for. The Padres hid stuff in 2016 and the only reason I'm still annoyed about that is because the Sox were the only team not offered the opportunity to reverse a trade with them, not because acquiring James Shields was stupid from the start.
  11. I look at Vargas like a lot here looked/look at Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Sosa, Colas, Burger (pre-breakout — the threads about him during his rehab were not kind), Vaughn and Sheets: I don't enjoy watching him and I want him gone. If Rick Hahn traded for him in 2022, he'd be getting shredded by everyone on this board.
  12. You're thinking wrong. The process was sign Fedde (smart), make Kopech a reliever attractive to teams (smart) and try to squeeze blood from a stone from Pham (ehhh). Who cares if the outcome was Miguel Vargas? We all know that sports aren't about outcomes.
  13. All-time flex made even funnier by how awful the Bobcats-era was.
  14. Let's circle back to this, because I'm a little confused as to why you're using such corporate jargon for a baseball team. Sports is literally all about outcomes, but it's a bit concerning that you don't seem to understand that. Anyway, we can table this for now, because you're going to follow up with some strange logic like "Well, the excellence is showing itself by creating more opportunities for success to rise to the top."
  15. The fact that they can't get ANY former players outside of Harold and those 3 (which are a good three) is so, so sad. For f***'s sake, Ozzie, Beckham, Pods and Frank are on the team payroll. Colson Montgomery and Noah Schultz will have to carry the entirety of SoxFest on their shoulders, because I don't think the other prospects will have endeared themselves at all to fans since their rises were during last year's horror show.
  16. Ok, so your opinion is that being skeptical of people who have previously hurt you is a terrible outlook on life?
