  1. The only other GM in history with 120 losses had an expansion team in the '50s. Other GMs handed bad situations managed to not f*** up as bad as Getz. His resume to date is: - Failed to develop depth in the White Sox farm system over 7 year span. - Most losses in a single season in MLB history. Let's see what year two brings. If they're a national laughing stock again where non-sports outlets are covering their futility, he'll have no ground to stand on.
  2. I was an eternal optimist until the Sox decided to forgo a search for the most consequential role in the org and hire a guy who had already failed internally. He is doing things differently. But if he was so apparently hamstrung in his previous role, what did he do to deserve this? He proved nothing. It also means he had to be whispering in Jerry's ear prior to KW/Hahn being fired, which is just...gross. He failed at his year one goal of creating a fundamentally sound, aesthetically pleasing team and retroactively declared that it was the plan all along to suck. He seems to be learning in year two that his bravado in year one was real fucking stupid. If they lose 100+ again without any major showings in the minors (I'm talking championship contention at every level) he should be fired, along with his staff. They won't be, but it's what they'd deserve.
  3. There's part of me that wants them to keep him if there isn't lingering ill will from the medicals. He just visibly still has the highest IQ on the team, he'll probably be cheap due to injury, and isn't *that* old. They'll need a vet that isn't Torrey Craig or Jevon Carter. Ideally they unload Zach, Vuc and Coby for draft assets / salary relief / prospects if they're lucky and keep their pick. Let the team develop around Matas, Ayo, Pat (he's here to stay), the lotto pick and probably Giddey, if he doesn't command an unexpectedly high contract. But I'm also worried they don't get the interest they want and decide to go for it for some stupid reason.
  4. You live in Lawrence. Write a letter to your major metro paper, the KC Star, and ask them to investigate if you think this supposed epidemic is happening near you Otherwise, here's a joint statement from several federal agencies: https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/4006538/dhs-fbi-faa-dod-joint-statement-on-ongoing-response-to-reported-drone-sightings/
  5. Cause the ones that are drones (unlike people freaking out over planes, helicopters and the aforementioned constellations) are probably everyday chodes with their own drones violating FAA laws flying them around and not some national security breach.
  6. To contribute to the now circular debate, a pro Sox reason: I want Roki to sign with the Sox cause he turns out to be a huge NWA fan and just loves the branding.
  7. Even Bennetti's biggest haters have to admit he actually knew, well, words.
  8. Cause it's a hard, hard sell. You're get laughed at to start, but you gotta keep them after that.
  9. For what it's worth, I don't think Iguchi matters too much. But if they were close in anyway, I imagine him saying something like "Chicago's a fun city to play/live in, Philly sucks" would hurt the Phillies and at least give the Sox a chance to give a presentation. Still laughed at, but it's something.
  10. MLB_scoops has been proven to be...shoddy...at best. I'm pretty sure lower than the foodies. So my guess is this is mega engagement bait. I mean, look at the comments.
  11. That's because it's a rarity. The only mega-wealthy owners nowadays that throw money around like it's nothing are ones that are passionate about the sport — Ballmer and Cohen, for example. Find a baseball crazed billionaire and we'll talk. Otherwise, get an ownership group.
  12. Everyone knows that the Dodgers and Red Sox are unable to spend money cause of this.
  13. We all seem to be assuming the Sox would have developed them the same as the Astros.
  14. I feel like the Cardinals would make it hurt.
  15. Miguel Vargas, former Top 40 prospect?
  16. Greg: Hates the game changing in any way, shape or form. Also Greg: This bullshit.
  17. Tadahito Iguchi is hopefully selling him on how cool black pinstripes are.
  18. This implies that the Sox will be the worst team in the league for at least 4 years (the only way they can be a lock for a Top 10 pick is if they are the worst team). If that's the case, Getz, the entire FO and coaching staff should be neutron purged and we're back to square one, seeing what prospect package the new GM can get for Schultz. He is! He also had/has more tools at his disposal than Getz, who is not on his level. Combine those two factors and we should not be going "well if the Orioles did it, we can do it!"
  19. This is ignoring that the draft system has changed entirely in that time with the lotto and the Orioles get those stupid competitive balance picks.
  20. I see we're all having some sort of peace conference.
  21. I'm sorry, this is third after betting homes and TA at catcher.
  22. I can definitely agree with this point after a year of watching him work.
