  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:51 AM) Walsh, Lyons and Appling should be on some oldtimers list ballot. No offense but nobody besides Sox fanatics like most of us have ever heard of those guys. We did win a WS in 2005. Or people who have ever bothered to look at retired numbers, aside from Walsh and he's the best pitcher in team history.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Ozzie didn't pitch Buehrle, Contreras or Jenks in the 2006 All-Star Game It sucks. It happens with pitchers.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Ozzie didn't pitch Buehrle, Contreras or Jenks in the 2006 All-Star Game Note: I also wanted to see Sale pitch.
  4. Hey Frank Thomas is on!
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Ozzie didn't pitch Buehrle, Contreras or Jenks in the 2006 All-Star Game
  6. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) Swap Lyons for Collins and thats my list as well. Debated that, but Lyons gets in for the sheer length that he pitched for them.
  7. Thomas, Walsh, Lyons, Appling Just because people weren't there for the past doesn't mean it should be ignored.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) If every team asked to keep their pitchers out of the game there'd be no game. Especially ones who are on 2 days rest. If Sale is that brittle, outlaw him from all future all star games. I certainly would never add him again if I was the AL manager/selection committee people. Ozzie didn't pitch Buehrle, Contreras or Jenks in the 2006 All-Star Game *Edited, accidentally typed Danks instead of Jenks
  9. I'm sure they asked Sale beforehand if he would be ok starting in Kansas City and he probably said he'd prefer starting that game to try and get them back into things
  10. Meanwhile, Trout just murdered that.

  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) Well one thing to point out is, you would only be able to acquire 1 player on loan (so it isn't as if you could acquire a new roster...just one guy). I do agree, that it would mean numerous stars trade hands. It could also be extremely exciting. Maybe you add an extra wrinkle that you could only do it every other year (which would further dilute what changes hands). The big wild card is what happens when an injury happens and well, lets be honest, they would happen. You also lose the ability to control the pitch counts, etc, of your player so they could run your pitcher into the ground and thus sets you back the following year. I would think this would be a major benefit for small market teams. While rebuilding, they might have a star player who they could leverage to gain more assets (and thus rebuild faster). When I first read the title I thought I would totally hate it, but when I read the restrictions put in place and fact that money wasn't really going to be the factor, it became far more intriguing. The restrictions make it intriguing, but this just seems like such a bad idea. And I know FanGraphs has the Sox at 7.8% chance of making the playoffs, but what if Sale and Abreu lead them to the second WC spot? That's way more exciting. I also feel like we'd see "White Flag" trades every year as stars start to demand being put on loan.
  13. It would be fascinating, but I think I'd hate to see it. Chris Sale wins the World Series in Houston. Decided he likes it there. Demands a trade to Houston.
  14. Bummer on Hickman. Was really hoping he'd sign.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) This new HR derby format is pretty awesome. However, I feel like both hitters should only do the bonus 30 seconds if they are tied. Big fan of the new format, just confused by the bonus time. Loved Frazier's approach. Don't watch. Just keep hitting.
  16. Both Cubs are out.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 07:50 PM) Crazy round. I begrudgingly admit these new rules are amazing. I'm enjoying it because Prince watched all his shots whereas Frazier just decided to go nuts.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) Don't steal Hawks calls Berman The execution was so poor.
  19. I love how concerned Rizzo looks.

    This type of move is the opposite of what the Sox should do - if they're buying or selling.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 02:00 AM) The problem is Boni is making good money like Keppinger was, right? It's tough to release guys making a few bucks. I bet Saladino does go down. I'd prefer simply releasing either Beckham or Boni. Either one. Release one of the two. Boni is making peanuts.
