White Sox are dead last in baseball in revenue/payroll percentage
TV deals and equal revenue sharing would be the most obvious and logical start. The Dodgers spend the way they do simply because of the lucrative tv deal they have and the revenue they generate from it. A salary cap is a non-starter with the MLBPA, so they need to look for alternate ways to eliminate the disparity between the big and small market teams. Moving to a collectively shared tv rights package like the NFL pretty much eliminates the entire advantage the Dodgers have and would solve a lot of the disparity we see between big and small market clubs. Teams shouldn't be allowed to negotiate their own tv deals, it should be a league-wide effort so all 30 teams receive an equal share before any additional tickets sales, marketing deals, concession sales, etc. It levels the playing floor almost immediately, and you'd still be able to operate without a hard CAP to keep the players happy.

Thorpe
Surgery was in March 2025, so I would think he's been throwing for a little bit by now.

Non-White Sox Off-Season Hot Stove
There's really no reason to bring back a broken down Tauchman in any capacity. He was terrible in the field last year and his legs are shot. He also saw a huge drop-off at the plate the final 2 months of the season (.220 BA). At 35 yrs old, it isn't going to get any better for him. Bringing him back to just DFA him a month or two later doesn't make sense, especially when so many guys currently on the 40-man are way younger and out of options.

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
I wouldn't DFA Iriarte just yet. Still very young at 24, and has an option left. Last year was his first year out the pen - I'd give him a little longer leash and see if they can't reign his control back in. I wonder if the Sox are trying to move someone in a trade to free up a spot.

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
Really like this move for the Sox. They need veteran leadership in the backend of the pen. They lost far too many games last year because of it. Dominguez is a nice addition, and could be worth a lot come the deadline if they decide to move him. Also, for anyone keeping track... projected fWAR for 2026: Robert - 1.8 Acuna - 1.3 Dominguez - 0.6 And the Sox still have ~$10M left if they want to add another SP or OF.

LaMonte Wade signs minors deal
Charlotte needs a 1B, so this is fine.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
I don't think he is guaranteed to though. I don't even think Burke is guaranteed a spot in the rotation. Adding in another legit SP option would be wise IMO - let the rest of the lot battle for a spot to stay relevant. I'd argue we are looking at Smith, Martin, and Kay as the only locks in the rotation right now.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
Because Getz overplayed his hand and was asking for too much initially. They've been trying to move him for 2 offseason now. Perhaps he anticipated being able to pick up some salary to increase the return package. Mune's signing certainly threw a wrench into the Sox offseason/payroll expectations. We also don't know for sure what the Mets offer was early in the offseason. With Belly finally back with the Yankees, it seems to me the Mets needed to act immediately to secure an OF. This Sox team was never going to be all that great with or without Robert. He was ultimately a sunk cost that wasn't going to be around for the next time the Sox would be good again. Hopefully Getz can use that money to add a few other pieces and they are able to develop some of these former top prospects into something useful.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
Do you know who the owner is?

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
His stuff is pretty electric when you look into it. He won't be anywhere near prospect rankings, but the fastball and sweeper have some ridiculous movement on them. They just need to teach him how to use them. He certainly is at least what you call an 'interesting' flyer.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
This. Would you rather have Murakami or Robert? I think the answer is pretty easy. I wanted Robert gone, and I never expected anything of value in return. Hopefully Getz can utilize some of that $20M to make an addition or two. I won't miss Robert's grimacing face every time he hits the 1B bag running out a grounder.

There certainly feels like there are a lot more guys this year without homes right now. Just the SP market alone you have Valdez, Gallen, Giolito, Littell, Bassitt, Verlander, Scherzer, Paddack, Gonsolin - granted, most of these names aren't 'stars' but they should likely be a part of some team's rotation.

Wilbur Wood R.I.P...
Wish I would have been able to see him pitch. My dad always raved about his knuckleball and how he pitched both games of a double header. We were lucky enough to get to shake his hand at an autograph signing years ago.

Heyman mentions Sox interest in Conforto
Outside of creating some good faith for dealing with Boras, I don't really see the value of forcing him into the lineup. Even if you gave him a 1 yr deal and let him man an OF spot for two months until Montgomery is ready, his stats look like he's toast on the surface.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
He's not worth it when he only plays 3/4 of every season. If you can't stay on the field, your talent is useless.
