Noooooo! She's reproducing!
QUOTE(Spiff @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) God, she had her first single seven years ago. I'm getting old. And they still play it where I work, it makes me feel very old too.

Chris from the Apprentice arrested..
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) He's a jerk on the show, but Trump does like some things about him. He likes people that are fired up and excitable. Not some drone spouting off statistics and numerous degrees. You could say Danny was excitable but that didn't really help much.

Chris from the Apprentice arrested..
I'm a couple of shows behind, but from what I've seen from this season, the contestants are definitely on a lower level talent wise, than with the previous 2 seasons IMHO.

More cause for optimism
Didn't last season the Sox have a great record with BA/RISP but had problems getting the runners to scoring position in the 1st place? In any case, it's a positive sign that we've been able to win despite the way our offense has been.

The Ravens are on the clock
I went with Roddy White also.

Around The Majors
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) Brett Myers man. 15 K's in two starts, ERA of .73. The guy has a good amount of talent. If only he pitched like that for Philly last season. Now they've probably got to send Gavin Floyd back down to AAA when Padilla comes back from injury, and Floyd's done nothing wrong at all, kind of like the B-Mac situation.

Scott Elarton to pitch thursday for tribe
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) This is a bit encouraging. This 6'8, 240 pounder really doesn't have impressive stuff. This guy just gets rocked. That said, here are his stats against our belov'ed White Sox: 6 games, 3 game starts, 1 win, 0 losses, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 21.1 IP, 19 k's, 2.57 ERA, 0.90 WHIP. He's definitely not going to post Santana like K numbers that's for sure (that said, he posted the most K's against us out of any team last season, 13 in 15.2 IP). And Righties absolutely crushed him last season, .306/.352/.548, so the White Sox should keep this in mind.

music
Right now I'm listening to the latest Missy Higgins CD (she's a local act down here). It's not usually the type of music I really enjoy listening to (think Fiona Apple), but I thought it was really good, she's got a real nice aussie voice, to put it that way, and I got Soxy listening to it as well.

Scott Elarton to pitch thursday for tribe
Good news for us, even if Westbrook was bombed in his last start. Elarton at best is the 5th starter for them, and we all saw how bad he was in Colorado for the early part of 2004.

Ozzie Guillen and his tinkering
Esteemed blogger and rotoworld geek Aaron Gleeman summed it up pretty well for me, at least on the Timo thing;

Damaso Marte
Marte against lefties last season in a "down" year for him. .143 AVG, .214 SLG, .256 OBP, 2 HR's in 98 AB's. It's been 1 week (god I've said that a lot today), he'll be fine.

Do the Bulls really need Eddy next year?
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) They'll be able to keep Noc and Duhon too. Unless some team offers Duhon more than the Bulls can, which is about $5 mill IIRC, but no-one's going to do that.

Barons Game 4/11 @ Carolina
Charlotte lost to Toledo 5-3. Heath Phillips gave up 3 ER from 3 HR's, while Jason Grilli for Toledo didn't give up a run. Fields gave up a run in relief, while Walker had 2 K's. Alex's man Bikowski had 1 hit leading off and 2 BB's. Anderson and Borch were both 1 for 4 with an RBI, with Borch playing in CF and Anderson in RF. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...tolaaa_chraaa_1 Winston - Salem beat Myrtle Beach 5-1. Excellent start for Ryan Rodriguez with only 1 ER and 3 K's. Amador and Molina both homered, and Nanita had 2 hits leading off. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...myrafx_wswafx_1 Kanny beat Greensboro 3-2 in 11 innings. Lucas Harrell also had a great start only giving up 1 ER, with 4 K's. The name guys didn't fire much of a shot, with Hernandez 1-4, King 0-4, and Ricks not playing. Layne Berry's had a good start to the season and so has Daron Roberts. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...gboafx_kanafx_1

Eric Milton.
Beltre had something wrong with his foot that forced him to change his batting stance or something IIRC, and that helped him with his hitting a lot.

Pistons@ bulls.
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) I'm in a final for fantasy, so I'm liking his production. He definitely was the reason for my winning blocks last week. I'm gonna pm you a question... There's been some good waiver wire pickups for blocks in the last few months. Joel Pryzbilla has just been huge on that regard since he's been starting for Portland.

Pistons@ bulls.
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) A couple more blocks would've been nice. OT: You live in Australia? I won't be complaining about his offensive output, but both Tractor Traylor and Softie Gooden scored 20 or more points today, not good. OT: Yes, yes i do.

The good news only thread
I may be headed to Arizona for a week in late June, depending if I can get a cheap flight. I have the whole afternoon off to relax. Going to to the footy again this weekend (hopefully my team actually wins).

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Ben is doing his part in making sure Emeka gets the roy. He's having a horrible April. Dwight Howard had more than 20 points and more than 10 rebounds again today.

Chris Widger's Goatee
Well I guess someone on the Sox had to get a facial feature to try and match Jose's pornstache from the few years.

Eric Milton.
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) and pick up who? Someone who at least pitches in a pitchers park. Adam Eaton would be a good sleeper, Derek Lowe even.

The "Joe Crede Support Group"
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) DBAHO, don't get me wrong I wasn't suggesting Ozuna to start or anything cause at this point that's ridiculous, I was just saying that Ozuna did rake in the minors, that's all. Yeah, and if he was on a different team other than Florida and Philly, maybe he would have caught on with someone else. But hopefully that's our good luck, and he'll do a good job for us.

First Week Thoughts?
Starting pitching has been great, and the bullpen's been ok so far, Ozzie knows which guys he shouldn't overwork e.g Vizcaino who hasn't pitched in 4 games now. The offense seems to be getting a bit better, but definitely needs to improve, mainly the top 5 are doing a pretty good job, and the lower half of the order needs to step up. But that'll come.
