  1. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) I also heard on MJ&H yesterday that MB has more wins and innings pitched than Maddux and Glavine at this point in his career. Just have a look at JG. He was really the better prospect b/w the two when they were in the minors, MB was like a 37th round pick and JG was much earlier than that, but they've been completely the opposite since hitting the majors. Just shows how good MB has been since he's come into this league from day 1, which is so damn hard to do. Dontrelle Willis did the same, and Felix Hernandez probably will when he hits the majors for Seattle later this season, but other than that, the track record is pretty bleak.
  2. I remember reading a Fan's View from the Trib last week IIRC, and he said that Mark has problems winning a big game against a "name" pitcher. I'd like to see his record in those types of games actually. But when you have a look at his track record, how much he is signed for over the next few seasons, and how much other mediocre starting pitchers got this off-season, we're very, very, very lucky to have him.
  3. Honel beat Billingsley. Betcha thought that wouldn't happen.
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) No body is happy to play with kobe. Just ask atkins and odom, they will tell you. That said it all really, Kobe is the GM. And I'd say KG, Duncan and James >>> Kobe.
  5. Lakers are going to miss out on Stoudemire anyways so yeah I could possibly see this happening, depending on what Tyson's tolerance level of Kobe Bryant is.
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) You are ugly too. You are hurting lil qwerty's feelings by posting all of these other dogs.
  7. I will say this about the Nets. If Nenad Kristic can continue to get double - double's, and they can at least slow down Shaq and Haslem down low especially on the boards, they're certainly not without a chance.
  8. We had a Californian talk to my lecture at Uni today about saving the rainforests in Costa Rica or something. Damn you guys talk real, real, real fast.
  9. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Would you go if TheBigHurtBEGOOD was there, or if SuperSteve launched the x-bomb on you if you didn't come??? Ahh yes the old chat days. Sadly no, the way how expensive flights to the US are, but your point is well taken Heather.
  10. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) man I hate Sharks We know, we know.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) you're crazy I think that's the 2nd time you've said that now. I'm banking on them having Miller and Jackson back and healthy in the playoffs. If they do, I think they are going to suprise a lot of people.
  12. Ok let's see. It's April, we still can't hit, our offense is in a flunk and we're 9-3. Can anyone else see the upside here? :banghead
  13. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Guess you figured out why we made you a mod... Of course. Somebody's got to look out for the Sox's international interests.
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) It does seem like a lot, but some people are only a mod in one forum, so it balances out pretty well. The most important thing IMO is that we have someone on just about 24/7. You can thank me and YASNY for that.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Who the heck decided Tony should be a mod? Oh TONY, nevermind congrats Only the dudes with the secret handshake will ever know.
  16. QUOTE(DetroitWhat @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Haha, that was me...sorry guys Division rivals, what do ya expect? Great site BTW... Welcome to SoxTalk.
  17. QUOTE(Da Sox @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Yah, we really don't need any new people for the pen, especially since our pen is fine and when the pitchers come around and get their control down it will be Dominatrix. Plus, in order to get new people for the pen we'd have to trade someone, and there's noone right now that's worth giving up to improve an already fine bullpen. Uribe's allright, but if we could improve our Defense at Short or trade for a better 3rd basemen I'd much rather go with that. Where are you going to find a better SS than Uribe who may be better defensively but can hit over the Mendoza line? Joe Randa, Joe Randa, Joe Randa. That is all. Too bad Cinci will now want quite a bit for him with the way he's started.
  18. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) there are 30 of us so someone is always pissed and can bring down the wrath on you Yes a drunken Aussie who's had too much Fosters isn't a good thing ya know.
  19. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) I'd be in favor of at least giving Walker a shot before pulling the trigger on a deal. I'd like Walker to earn that spot first, his stats at Charlotte certainly aren't worthy of a shot at the moment.
  20. Good thoughts in this thread, let's keep em coming. My take on the whole deadline scenario is this, I think we'll be trading for a bullpen guy as well. But it won't be a closer, b/w Shingo who I think will come around again and Hermanson the Sox are very well covered there, a lot better then some other teams in this league. If we trade for someone, it will be a lefty specialist. Cotts is struggling right now, although we all still love his potential, and Marte still looks like he hasn't returned to his dominating form of 2002 and 2003 even though he's been better. A guy like Ron Vilionie (I know I didn't spell that right), Joey Eischen, could help this pen even more.
