Rookie of the Year thread
QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 06:47 AM) I dont know. I think Tyson would have emekas numbers in charlotte. Tyson doesn't start. Tyson also doesn't have much of a low post game right now, except for a runnin hook shot (I think I read that in one of Sean Deveney's columns). He's got the perfect role on this team right now, and if his low post game develops and he stays healthy he's going to be one hell of a PF. Okafor would start in Chicago at the moment, and put up good numbers still, although his scoring would go down a little.

Phillip Buchanon to the Texans
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) why would the texans do this, they already have good defensive backs, what they really need is a defensive linemen, and since sharper is gone a lb 2 words. Peyton Manning.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) It's not like Restovich is doing anything... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6416 LOL Gene. I get quite jealous looking at the cheap productive outfielders the Rockeis have in Holliday, Restrovich, Hawpe and Mohr. If only they weren't tied down by Helton and Co.

Rookie of the Year thread
Is anyone actually going to give Dwight Howard a chance here? There are definitely some factors worth considering to possibly go for him over Emeka; 1) Shoots 52% from the field, while Okafor shoots 45%. 2) Rebounds are almost the same, while Okafor would get more minutes. 3) Is averaging 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds this month, and 13.9 points and 11.7 rebounds last month. 4) He's not the #1 option on his team like Okafor is.

They kept Emil Brown over a waiver claim of Mike Restrovich. Good choice Mr. Baird.

OF help
Depends on what you were after. Until Pods shows his groin is 100% and he starts stealing on a regular basis, I'd sit him. I'd probably go with Crisp just over Rowand, with Ichiro and Everett definitely starting.

Tyson Chandler
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) And Odom isn't a garbage player. He's pretty damn good playing alongside anyone not named Kobe. As would 95% of the players in the NBA.

Ozzie vs. Frank, round one?
To me, Ozzie shouldn't be judged 100% on what he does in the media, calling out players etc. That definitely counts, but the clubhouse seems better than what it has been, and the team is winning, so I think those calling for his head probably need to take that into perspective 1st. These are definitely issues that need addressing ASAP, and other things like learning how to use a bullpen as well. But Ozzie needs to learn this team needs to be in the headlines for all the RIGHT reasons, not the wrong ones.

OK, Everett . . .
I remember the ideas in the off-season that suggested Carl was making too much to be a bench player, and he wasn't going to be used enough. Well folks, in hindsight that probably wasn't the best idea was it. Right now, Everett has forced himself to be an everyday player, even when Frank comes back. I've got faith in Dye being able to turn it around though, so I think things will definitely turn out ok.

Game thread 4-19 Sox .vs. Twinkees
Let's hope El Duque can pitch like he did against the Twinkies the 1st time. If he does, I definitely like our chances, so long as the run support is there. Pods and Iguchi need to set the tone at the top of the order, while Konerko and Everett are hitting bombs. As usual, some production from the lower part of the order is needed.

Didja know...
QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) I also heard on MJ&H yesterday that MB has more wins and innings pitched than Maddux and Glavine at this point in his career. Just have a look at JG. He was really the better prospect b/w the two when they were in the minors, MB was like a 37th round pick and JG was much earlier than that, but they've been completely the opposite since hitting the majors. Just shows how good MB has been since he's come into this league from day 1, which is so damn hard to do. Dontrelle Willis did the same, and Felix Hernandez probably will when he hits the majors for Seattle later this season, but other than that, the track record is pretty bleak.
