White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
Flash Tizzle replied to Bananarchy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) Still have people that defend KW no matter what! He can't evaluate talent with any longterm success. Just put it in this prospective -- remove yourself from being a White Sox fan. Look at the teams from 2009 through today, and decide how you would guage the results? I'd say most, if not all, would conclude that management did a horrendous job. They were unable to sustain success.....or failure. So what was left was a perpetual cycle of mediocrity. -
White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) It's the philosophy that needs to be changed. That won't happen. A rebuild wont work. Why wouldn't it work? Have we tried it? This is exactly the type of mentality that places us in our current position. We recognize that our "rebuild on the fly" philosophy doesn't work, but know it won't be changed so we just sit here and shrug our shoulders. "It won't work Hahn, so lets continue looking for our next NL FA bust to maybe finish in 4th place next season." Meanwhile another five years pass and a team such as Minnesota implode, allows themselves to completely rebuild, and are in a much better position moving forward. I'd take a complete demolition of this team now and accept five years of futility. Atleast we'd know if this current group is capable of a rebuild. Hell, even if there's no guarantee for a sucsessfull rebuild like Houston, Minnesota, or the Cubs, I'd atleast appreciate the effort. We would have something to compare to, unlike now. And about the inevitable issue of attendance......who cares? We're near the bottom now, move four slots down and bump out Tampa Bay for all I care. I'd atleast appreciate the courage of our team to do what's necessary and recognize that what has been tried since 2008 ISN'T WORKING. -
Games such as tonight remind me why Quintana needs to be dealt before next season. Someone with value from the rotation has to be traded to improve this offense. Some flash in the pan FA wont do it, either. Atleast we gained in the draft pic standing!

I've always hated the Cubs as merely a condition of being our crosstown rival, and take joy in their failures. However, I still recognize their talent or ignore the jealously I feel towards their collection of young players. It's sad too when I look at our team and almost laugh at the collection of mediocrity. We're irrelevant in Chicago and the MLB, and it wont change unless we're in the playoffs. Problem is our offense -- We won't be drafting high enough for a Bryant or Schwarber, we're not outbidding anyone for Upton or Heyward(nor should we), and aside from hoping and praying our youngsters produce/players rebound/a crafty veteran we're bound to acquire turns back time, NOTHING will change. I feel trading Quintana is almost a necessity given our position and pitching as our position of strength. Trade him to the highest bidder, revel in the players received (Hahn better not f*** it up) and take 2016 as a transition year to 2017 (timeline of Anderson, Montas, Fulmer). The Cubs are ahead if their schedule, perhaps goid fortune will bounce our way and we'll find ourselves much better than expected........lol

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) Over how long of a time period? Because in the next ~1 season I've got Erik Johnson, Carson Fulmer, and Francellis Montas. That probably doesn't give me a strong 2016 rotation. But it could give me a dynamite 2017-2019 rotation. I'd be willing to take that risk of gambling with two slots in our 2016 rotation if we can further develop Fulmer and Montas in preparation for 2017. It would be the most intelligent move made by the organization in years. Sale/Rodon/Danks/Johnson/Whomever won't win any titles, but having Quintana and a similar lineup as this season won't either. Quintana almost has to go. I'd be disappointed if he remained for another season, which lets be honest -- 2016 will more than likely be another mediocre season. We should all be estatic to be trading from a position of strength. If Quintana could land us one quality ML player and one top ten offensive prospect, I'd jump all over it. By the time either Fulmer or Montas (perhaps both) are ready we could have one hell of a rotation in 2017. We'd just have to be willing to throw caution to 2016, which I know many on here will make excuses to explain why it would never happen

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) All that's left for me then is what other team has gotten swept in two 4 game series in the same year and when? I think if Sox lose tnight Robin should be fired. That would be an 0-8 record in a pair of 4 game series. You can't win divisions doing s*** like that. Team is too erratic. What good is a damn draft pick? It's not like the Sox are close to winning anything with draft picks. What good is Chris Sale or Carlos Rodon? A draft pick allows us to do what we're incapable of otherwise -- developing a potential superstar player. Is it a guarantee for success? Hell no. But why not put us in a better position to improve the team? Will you care come 2016 if the White Sox finish with five more losses if it meant an improvement of several draft slots? But the White Sox aren't close to winning anything, anyways. Wise up and realize nothing from this point onward matters -- whether we finish with 81 wins or 69 itll be the same plan come next season

While I hate losing to the Cubs, I enjoy watching us creep back up the draft board. Our losses place us in a better position to draft, perhaps, a generational talent moreso than any other means. We're not going to fleece anyone in a trade deal (if anything we'll continue to unload what's remaning in our baron system), and we're not going to spend 150+ million for a FA. Did anyone else look at the Cubs lineup in envy? And come next June if we were to pick Top 5, no one would care how these games end. If Sale and Rodon (the only two players I care about) would lose every game 1-0 (unearned run) I'd be happy. im not even concerned about 16' either

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Sox get clobbered, 11-3. Thanks White Sox for going 7-1 on that road trip, then immediately sucking. You players convinced everybody you were in the WC hunt to stay, so Sox didn't trade Shark and some other guys they should have dealt. Now the team will have to do all its trading in the wintertime and will just get some dumb compensation pick for Shark. Ugh. Thank you White Sox for nothing. How you guys won all four from Cleveland and three of four from Boston is one of life's great mysteries. I know those teams suck but it still makes no sense you'd go 7-1 right before the trade deadline. It was terrible timing for a timid group of front office personnel. 2015 will be known for the 7-1 stretch before the deadline. because now, with Sharks upcoming compensation pick, we'll be closely monitoring who is selected and how they progress. We cannot draft failures with this organization. Every early pick has to hit and I'm going to have high expectations on our Front Office to produce. I mean I always read it here prior to the deadline, "sox dont need to trade Shark because they'll receive compensation." Well, I can't wait to see how we'll use it.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) But we get to see Shark pitch rest of year hooray! But atleast we appeased the meathead fans with the screams of White Flag by not dealing Shark!

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) Sale again fails when needed most. It makes you wonder how he'd fare during a playoff race.

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) I'm just so sick of this team beating around the bush. Actually try to make the right changes to win please. Before Chris Sale demands a trade or hits free agency. Sometime before then would be nice. Doing nothing during the deadline was really one of the worst moves this front office has made so far. It wasn't as if we were all on board for selling, or buying; with as many active members as post here you'd understand opinions differ. But not doing anything.......was pathetic and to me reeked of indecisiveness. Yeah I know, we'll never know the packages offered for Shark; but not selling him is looking to be a terrible move NOW, not even a week past the deadline. How is it going to looks months/years from now?

God Its frustrating watching Sale nibble around these hitters

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) Seriously what the hell is going on? After the trade deadline they say thank you for not trading for anybody here come the s*** performances? They said thank you for acting on emotion, we'll go back to being the team we've always been since before the seven game win streak. I cannot believe many fell for it

7/31 White Sox vs Yankees 7:10 PM CT

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) Thing is, he's still making a comeback from injury. You guys disagree, but the eye test tells me his stuff is improving. Now, the consistency is still off. Maybe he should have pitched in the minors all year. I agree five out of 10 is not great, but it's OK for a No. 5. The Danks hatred bothers me. Because 1.) he isn't to blame for his contract. Somebody offered it to him. 2.) The GM could demand he pitch a year in the minors to get his effectiveness all the way back following serious surgery. He's a No. 5 starter and doing OK in that role. Rodon has been equally inconsistent and he's No. 4. I think the reasons people hate on Danks are wrong. He has reached that point that many White Sox have reached where we're tired of looking at him. Danks is overpriced and that's primarily the reason, and every inconsistent start is a reminder of the burden we'll have to carry for another season -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) They looked GREAT. Teams have gone on amazing runs before during the second half. Seemed like this team finally was gelling. How could we not be fooled? Yes, it sure looks like Baltimore and Toronto are gonna roll the second half. Cleveland and Boston are bad teams. New York, Kansas City ans St Louis are good. You're looking at the reality here of this ballclub. They're just......bad, and forgettable like past seasons. Please stop acting as if everyone was fooled, when many here were not -
White Sox make no trades at the deadline.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) Logic doesn't matter. It didn't matter in 1997, and it wouldn't have mattered today. How many years do we have to appease these f***ing people by keeping a flawed team entact to avoid screams of White Flag!? I would have White Flagged this team even if we were tied for the wild card. However our front office lacks convinction and cares about further affecting an already meger attendance. -

QUOTE (RaySox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) It is quite difficult to not get overly excited in that situation. We thought they finally figured it out I know many here weren't overly excited or fooled by the team and still wanted to have Shark traded
