  1. Hawk said he talked with Hermmie, and he said that Frank should be back by September 15, just in time for the home stretch of the season.
  2. Well, at least we've got Maggs back, who, by the way, has a much more valuable bat at this time. But I do agree that we gotta get some power. I'm ok with our infield at this moment, and Rowand's been decent in CF (sometimes could do a little better offensively), so I think we really NEED to focus on the catching situation. Davis isn't going to hit, Burke and Alomar can't be expected to play the types of innings that we lost in Olivo. But, if we were to go after Jason Kendall, I'd think that Pittsburgh ask for us to pick up the rest of his contract, since Pittsburgh most likely would want to dump some salary. This might make things a bit more difficult in getting a guy like Kendall. I'm not really "up" with our minor leagues, but is there anyone even remotely worthy in our minor leagues at this time at the catcher position?
  3. It's time for Buehrle to begin his quest to show the All Star Game selection committed why he really deserved to be in Houston three days ago. He will do so in pitching no less than 7.1 innings, and the game will go rather rapidly. The offense will kick it in better than they did last night (well, I guess that isn't much of a feat afterall), enough to give Buehrle double-digits in victories. Fearless Predictions: Buehrle will record at least 7 Ks and will walk 3 or less. The Sox middle infielders will help out in the cause by turning at least 2 double plays.

    Jeopardy

Yesterday was the closest I've ever seen them get to Ken. The guy on the far right actually had a lead after getting a daily double right midway through the Double Jeopardy! but then got a few questions wrong, which Ken got right, and then Ken basically pulled away as usual. The other contestants really look shell-shocked out there!
  5. I've had my driver's license for 6 1/2 years now and still use my turn signals 100% of the time, even when absolutely no other cars are around.
  6. You know what I REALLY hate though??? Those people who flip down the sun visors to gain access to the mirrors on the backs just to PUT THEIR MAKEUP ON IN THE CAR!!!!! Take a few minutes BEFORE leaving the house to put the makeup on OR put it on when your car's in a COMPLETE stop IN THE PARKING LOT OR IN THE DRIVEWAY OF THE PLACE YOU'RE GOING!!!!! Do NOT put makeup on in the middle of traffic and then somehow act like a total dummie when you rear-end the car in front of you!!! I've never been rear-ended by someone of this type, but my good friend from college has had this happen to her three times in the past four years!
  7. Do what I do whenever I go up to the state of Wisconsin and wear as much Bears gear as possible. It immediately spurs a debate with a Packer fan, and I always come out victorious! Fun stuff!
  8. What's so bad about Comcast Cable modem? I'm considering getting it when I move out in a few months...It would be nice to know so that I can make a more educated decision with regards to my internet connection. Thanks!
  9. We just got SBC Yahoo DSL here, and, as of today, I have wireless internet with my laptop, which is flat-out awesome! This connection's literally 10 times faster than the one I had in my ISU dorm! What internet service do you use, and are you happy with your service?
  10. Come and chat with us in our chat room during the game tonight in Oakland. We'll make it a Soxtalk slumber party and talk about the game as it happens. Just one quick note: For Java Users, use the following link: http://www.whitesoxcentral.com/chat.html For MIRC users, use #SoxNetChat I should be there no later than the 7th inning or so, as I work til close, but, by all means start without me!
  11. You can take this name off the list!!!
  12. That's been costing him this season...the pitching AWAY! Last year, he kept on going after hitters pitching in on them and that displayed some very positive results. He should go back to how he did it last year instead of looking afraid to face some of the hitters out there...then he can be as dominant as last year.
  13. I don't know about you, but I REALLY get a kick out of watching "I love Lucy." Lucille Ball is one heck of an actress!!!
  14. As long as their names are J-Craw, Kirk Hinrich, and co.
  15. Nowhere in my post did I say that Rauch would be the ONLY thing we'd have to give up.
  16. Kinda like "IIRC, PhillyGirl is a huge annoyance?"
  17. I wouldn't mind losing a Rauch for Beltran...I really think he could solidify our OF (he makes impressive catches...not quite Edmonds-style...but still great) and add another bat to this already-killing-the-ball lineup! I wouldn't mind seeing a Beltran on here...I want a World Series, and he could help!
  18. I vividly remember that...Hawk was talking about the "Golden Sombrero!"
  19. I just paid my semi-annual car insurance premium today and was wondering what everyone else pays for their car insurance. I pay $588 for my 6-month premium.
  20. Ya know, what Hawk said to be a "Mind-Boggeling trade" a year ago could very well occur a year late! These next few weeks should be exciting.
  21. They mentioned it on the All Star Game broadcast tonight, and I can see some substance to that idea. They'd try to decrease their payroll and get some good prospects in return. They're virtually out of it barring a huge turn-around, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them dealing soon.
  22. That was the Thursday night game at Comiskey Park...It was on WCIU, IIRC.
  23. Save his appearance at the All Star Game, I really believe that the Rocket would look great in a Palehose uniform. Though he's getting "up" in the years, he's still dealing, much like the Unit is at his age. If Houston drops any further in the race than they already are, look for them to deal guys like him and Beltran. I'd seriously consider trying to get a Clemens to bolster our pitching staff. I know we'd most likely lose Rowand, Crede, and at least a couple prospects; however, a four-man rotation of: Buehrle Clemens Garcia Loaiza with Garland moving to the bullpen makes our pitching staff in the playoffs LIGHTS-OUT! This pitching lineup can compete with New York and Oakland and could very well win us the whole shooting match!!! If a deal like this is on the table, I say GO FOR IT!!!
  24. Carlos Lee's home run saving catch...gotta LOVE plays made by THE MAN!!!!!
  25. Shingo's wife commented a few weeks ago when she was in town that Shingo NEVER got standing ovations in Japan...This type of fan support is all foreign to him, and he's really feeding off of it. Keep it up, Sox fans!
