  1. It was just 2 1/2 years until my birth then...I was still an egg...Oh, the memories...
  2. Uhhhh, Steve LOST to Heather in the 'bomb' game tonight!!!!!
  3. That doesn't mean that CLEVELAND should have 5 all star representatives. NO team with an under .500 deserves many at all!!! The Sox and Twins COMBINED have 3 less than that, and both of us are way better than Cleveland. The Sox should have 3 reps, Twins 2, and Cleveland deserves no more than ONE!!!!!
  4. But I thought you LOVED the Cubs...guess I was wrong...
  5. It would be awesome to have a Soxtalk slumber party, so go up to the Soxtalk chat and sign in... Topics to discuss: Freddy Garcia The Magglio Ordonez situation Frank's injury All Star snubs Our first place standing The second half of the season COME IN AND JOIN US!!!!
  6. Can someone please describe the Shingo entrance for those of us who haven't seen it? Oh, and IK, no more 5-game losing streak, eh?
  7. Also, you can't forget that Minnesota has a ton of games in August against the AL West...Coming out of the gate after the All Star break, they have like a 2 1/2 week span where they're only home for a TWO-GAME SERIES as well! September favors us too. I'm really seeing a divisional title here for the south siders!!!
  8. MNSF, You should know by now...It's SOXESS...NOT Success!!!!
  9. Agree. Lee's been best at the 2- or 4/5-hole. I'm surprised that Willie got the start last night as well (I was thinking maybe Uribe would've gone instead). Hopefully Uribe can get something going now...
  10. This information is SO last week! The Chicago Public Schools don't start til the 7th of September, so that's a possibility...Let's just hope Thome's out of 'it' by that time, or we could have some problems.
  11. Cub fans are probably going to try to croak over winning the season series, when, in reality, they have so much to do to even "even up" things from a historical standpoint. If any Cub fan even tries to croak at you, throw out any of these FACTS to shut them up: 1. The White Sox have a better historical winning percentage than the Cubs. 2. The White Sox have finished with a better record than the Cubs in far more seasons. 3. The White Sox have won the only all-Chicago World Series (1906). 4. THE WHITE SOX LEAD THE ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST THE CUBS 150-104! 5. White Sox fans are more intelligent and better fans than Cubs fans. We'll get through the next couple of days...Cub fans really can't croak just because they win this season series. They must face history, which points in OUR direction!!!
  12. This thread needs the touch of Heads!!!!
  13. 27 games without a break??? That's quite tough!!! Thankfully the Twins are gonna have a downright murderous schedule come August, which is jam-packed with games against the AL West, because we're gonna need all the extra help we can get. No matter who your opposition is, when you play that many games in a row without breaks, it can get tough...especially on the pitching! Let's hope our bullpen will be able to survive.
  14. No, that dubious distinction goes to BeastleyOrdonez's "Showering" thread!!!
  15. For not following simple Soxtalk rules, I say Soxtalk should take the liberty to BAN SuperSteve until further notice is given!!!!
  16. Absolutely not going to happen. Arizona would command much more than KW's willing to give up! Our best option is to go after Ortiz WITHOUT GIVING MAGGS UP!
  17. He sure did start an all star game before. He started the 1995 All Star Game, even hitting a home run in the 4th inning!
  18. Just a little question about this Comcast Chicago sports channel that's gonna come about starting October...Will it be available for those with just basic cable? Is this an extra channel that you have to pay for? What are the specifics about this channel? I'm moving in a few months to my own apartment and want to know which cable package I need to get to insure myself the opportunity of getting this Comcast Chicago sports channel.
  19. Shouldn't matter if you don't watch Cub games!
  20. Completely agree here with the switching. The last thing we need is for lineup "tinkering" a la Jerry Manuel, and I highly doubt Ozzie would be in for doing that. But, lineup consistency is key in having a winning product.
  21. Right, but he's been playing like he wants to be a nearly everyday outfielder. He's hitting and a great percentage of those hits have been absolutely HUGE! I'm not saying that he's as clutch as Jose, but he's becoming clutch himself! He's really "with it" in the field as well. This is quite a dilemma. And, like Jordan4life said, it's a good dilemma to be in.
  22. I think the key here to keeping Politte in his current state is giving him the rest he needs (i.e. a day off every now and then), which is where an extra guy in the bullpen can really do some good. I think it would be great to take a gamble on Rauch down in the pen until Schoenweis returns...then send him back down to the minors. Politte's been good, but he can't be pitching every single game.
  23. With Magglio Ordonez scheduled to return within the next couple of weeks, Ozzie's gotta begin to think about what he's going to be doing in our outfield. It's a given that nothing's gonna change for Carlos, as he'll remain in LF. But, with the recent surge of Timo Perez, I really don't want to lose his performances at the time Maggs comes back. I seriously think the "odd man out" here would be Aaron Rowand. Maggs could play CF, while Timo stays in RF (or vice versa). Rowand could give either a day off if necessary. Your thoughts?
