Though I hate the Illini with a deep passion, it doesn't superceed my loathing of the Cubs.

Geez, major mishap on my part! I think I should step away from the Algebra I and Algebra II textbooks for a while...LOL!

He's only done for with respect to making the opening day roster...He still has a very good chance to play up here in the big club some time this season...If Rowand begins to have problems out there in CF, and Borchard is ready, he could very well be brought up...Don't count Borchard's chances out... But if Borchard isn't given the call-up, that could be a GOOD thing, cuz that would mean that Rowand's doing a great job himself, and that he's coming of his own.

I think Shingo will out-duel Koch for the closer spot...Koch and Marte will be setup men...Wunsch, Glover, and Adkins should make the team as well...The rest is up for grabs, imho.

I know I haven't made a single post here for at least a couple months, so I'm checking in to see what's up with everyone! I've been student teaching for over a month now, and I have to do all of the work of a regular teacher (that includes making every lesson plan, tests, quizzes, attending department meetings, attending curriculum meetings, attending teacher's institute meetings, attending professional development meetings, as well as other things), plus writing weekly reflections to send to my university supervisor. I also have to complete my senior portfolio, which is due in less than a month, as well as search for a teaching position for next fall. On top of that, I am working 12-13 hours on Friday nights and Saturdays, and have Blackhawkzone.com stuff to do as well. Whew! But it's all over in under two months now, as I graduate from ISU on the 8th of May. But I'll still try to visit this site a little more now that baseball season's about to begin... Let's go White Sox, and I hope that all is going well for all of you!

Huh? I've been away from these boards a great amount of time over these past few months...Did I miss anything?

Go, you Redbirds onto battle. Fight for ISU! Raise the banner, red and white To this emblem, we'll be true! So let us cheer the Redbirds onto victory! Every voice proclaim! We've got the fight! We've got the might! Let's win this game! ISU GO!

Hudler Rex, To answer your second question...I am not Carlos Lee's real wife (I wish though). I've been joking around about it a lot, but, in reality, am not.

How do I get this in my sig? -
Patriots 27-14

Is known for Doug Collins, as well as beating Tennessee in the 1998 NCAA tournament in the Stallings era. Oh, and Wichita State has a killer baseball program. They're on the Baseball America Collegiate Top 25 list almost every week. And SMS made it to the CWS just last year. I'd say our conference is rather tough when it comes to baseball.

"Feel Good" Story about Neal Cotts
BridgeportHeather replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
BTW, Steff, I could tell you about the times I ate lunch or dinner with the baseball team and Neal Cotts was there!!! -
The one that looks like a bumble bee is the logo for the Wichita State Shockers. I may be a bit biased here, but I think the best of those logos is the fifth from the left!

The problem is that Bettman has introduced nine teams to the league in his tenure...That's right, NINE, most of them shouldn't have even been created! The main problem in this is the vast 'watering down' this has caused the entire league. Had he not tried to NBAize the league so much, it wouldn't be in the trouble it is today!

"Feel Good" Story about Neal Cotts
BridgeportHeather replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Aww, thanks, Markie Buehrle! I've just been super busy with "tying" the last loose ends here at ISU before student teaching, and then preparing my resume (that's with ONE 'e', TheBigHurtBEGOOD ) and getting ready for interviews for my career placement, as well as stuff with Blackhawkzone.com. I'll be around more when baseball season hits. -
The Ducks are taking on the role of the '96-'97 Florida Panthers, showing that they were merely lucky frauds who made the finals in the previous season. The mystery of their miraculous run last year has run out, and now they are struggling at the gate. If the LA metropolitan area doesn't even have a FOOTBALL team, how do you expect hockey to survive there! And these "warm-weathered" fans (other than Dallas, that franchise is surviving well) are, in general, NOT real die hards. They are the equivalent of Cub fans to MLB. Hell, aside from the Kings, no team existed south of St. Louis until just over a decade ago! Very few of the teams Bettman has introduced into the league have been very successful as a whole. This is why this NBAization of the NHL has put the league into the state it's in. Bettman's f***ed things up majorly. As for the Blackhawks, they cannot be eliminated, as they are, you guessed it...MAKING MONEY! And they have one of the richest owners in professional sports (he just won't spend his money). In addition, the Hawks are an Orignal Six franchise. If you're looking to restore any history in the league, the LAST thing you do is get rid of one of the Original Six franchises.

The Illinois State Redbirds are picked to finish third in the Missouri Valley Conference. The MVC is home to two baseball power houses in Wichita State and Southwest Missouri State, who, by the way, played in the CWS last year. Senior Josh Kauten, junior Kyle Bloom, and 80% of our starting pitching returns from a pretty decent campaign last season. Senior catcher Greg Blaesing leads a pretty potent offense. I'm gonna try to make a game or two when I'm back on campus for student teaching seminars.

You want the league to get better? ELIMINATE a bunch of teams!!! Get rid of both teams in Florida, get rid of Atlanta, get rid of Nashville, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, and Anaheim. Move Carolina back to Hartford, where they had REAL hockey fans (they never should've moved from Hartford in the first place). And, finally, STOP CATERING TO THE CASUAL FAN IN EXPENSE OF THE DIE-HARDS! Jim C, a well-known poster at www.blackhawkzone.com has hit things on the nail in various threads on the Hawk Talk board. http://www.blackhawkzone.com/forum/yabbse/...=12234;start=15 http://www.blackhawkzone.com/forum/yabbse/...;threadid=12244 http://www.blackhawkzone.com/forum/yabbse/...;threadid=12249 Jim C is a pure genius!

This'll make you love Neal Cotts even more than you already do: http://www.redbirds/../story.taf?_id=3291 This is the type of guy we want in our organization, and I'm glad that the Sox have rights to him! Let's hope that KW doesn't boneheadedly deal him away.

I walk all around this campus, so I get just about 3-4 miles in a day, since I don't have the bulk of classes that I have always had in all the previous semesters. It adds up to about 45 minutes of walking a week. I also manage a dining center, which requires lifting some heavy boxes (man those banana boxes can be quite heavy), so I get some weight lifting in there five times a week. I'd say I get roughly seven hours of real "exercise" in a week.

When I knew I was going to ISU, I decided to seek out information about the area of which the university is situated (Bloomington/Normal). I'd imagine that a great deal of soon-to-be college students are interested in the area they're going to be joining the community of (especially if they're living ON campus), so you might want to be aware of those types of questions. In addition, prospective students are probably going to be interested in the difference between living on and off campus, as well as clubs they can get involved in. Good luck in being a "mentor" for these soon-to-be college students.

Aww s***, that's damn scary!!! Now I'm even more sorry for those who have to be anywhere overseas. It's gotta be scary knowing that at any second, you can be dead. Sure, the same can be said true about any one of us...But those soldiers are on the frontlines of a battle field. They are in my thoughts every day...They are heros. I personally couldn't sleep very well if I was over there.
