I don't think there is anything easy about trading AV. I am open to it because I know the org will have a very hard time moving on from Jose, and there is no way to balance AV/Eloy/Jose on this roster. But I really struggle to come up with a good fit for an AV trade. I don't want to trade him for SP. A similar aged/controlled LH hitting middle infielder would be a great target. Someone like Andres Gimenez, but that intra-division swap is never going to happen. Maybe the Brian Reynolds swap as cheaper alternative contractually to Nimmo, and go internal at 2B between Sosa/Romy/Mendick/Leury at 2B. Trading AV is going to hurt, especially if he takes off with his new club while we watch the inevitable father time hit Jose while likely paying him more than he's worth.

Sheets should be relied on as nothing more than a depth piece. He’s interesting but if Sox plug him in as the primary DH or a primary corner OF, they’re going to be bad again. The path forward should be simple: -Let Jose walk -Sign Nimmo -Call up Colas in May to take the other corner, shifting Pollock to 4th OF -Shift AV to 1B mostly fulltime -shift Eloy to DH mostly fulltime -Sheets can fill in for rest and injuries Team defense, lineup balance and athleticism take giant leaps forward. And we didn’t even spend much money. I can’t imagine Nimmo will be much more than 3-4 year deal around $15-17M AAV.

I think Nimmo should be priority #1. Conforto also wouldn't be a bad fallback option, but Nimmo is a better fit because he's a better defender.

I'll happily take a sham search if it leads to a whole new coaching staff. Of course, I'd prefer a legitimate process, but I actually think Pierzynski would be an awesome fit for this club at this point. AJ would light these guys up for how they play. Sox need someone to change the culture as much or more than they need a seasoned baseball tactician (though I certainly think AJ would be fine there as well). I'd prefer a totally fresh non-white sox perspective, but its not like AJ has been in the org the past decade.

Pinch hitting Leury for Seby was a truly awful decision. There isn't a single scenario besides perhaps a sac bunt I'd prefer Leury at the dish. I can only imagine Hahn blowing up when that happened. As for Robert, he clearly isn't healthy enough to hit right now, so he wasn't an option for Seby. I didn't mind using Robert in that spot in PR for Eloy. If the Sox let Engel hit instead of Eloy, they definitely don't pitch around him like they did Eloy. Now we can debate why Luis is on the active roster if he cannot hit, but that's another discussion.

Tony does not bat. But he’s absolutely a major problem. I would venture a guess that a significant reason why this team plays with non energy is very much TLR related.

There really isn’t much of a path to sneak into the playoffs at this point. Effectively 6 GB with 34 to play. Probably have to go 24-10 or better to have a chance. There’s just no way unless Cleveland plays like .333 baseball rest of season.

Yup. That game Thursday night was the last straw of my optimism. Only watched 1 game this weekend. Not sure I’ve missed 2/3 games in a long while. I’ll still tune in most nights cuz Sox baseball is just a part of me, but 2022 is dead. What a fuckin shame of a season.

Cease is probably one of the more valuable pitchers in the game. This is an awful take.

Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, Eloy DH, Vaughn 1B, Nimmo RF, Pollock LF, Grandal C, insert 2B that bats left handed and plays defense BN: Seby, Engel, Leury, Sheets Colas takes over as starter in OF come May. Pollock to bench/injury replacement for Eloy. Pollock and Leury are gonna be on this roster. Insert Conforto for Nimmo if you want, he’ll be cheaper so prob more likely, but Nimmo absolutely better fit.

Fire everyone. Literally no one besides perhaps Katz that is involved with this coaching staff, front office and training staff deserves to retain their job.
