  1. The people ripping on Grandal crack me up. This is basically who he is. He's not that far off from his career numbers and like 4-5 days ago his slash line was basically identical to his career slash line. He's a catcher, and an elite one. He's not going to hit .300. He's an unbelievably good fit for this roster in terms of OBP and lineup balance, and is easily a top 2 catcher in the game. Stop complaining. James McCann has been really good this year when he's gotten the opportunity to play, much like he was the first half of next year. I'd love to keep him around past 2020, but chances of him wanting to resign to be in 30/70 or so timeshase with one of the best catchers in the league is doubtful. Its not that hard to figure out.
  2. Me thinks a lot of dudes are going to want to be White Sox this offseason. Hopefully Jerry is willing to spend a little cash.
  3. I've mentioned that before here. I see no reason not to try. I am sure he would be better than Eloy in the OF.
  4. I think Detwiler only facing one batter had more to do with the fact that if he came back out, he would have had to face Sano as the 2nd batter of Detwiler's 2nd inning of work (3rd batter overall). With the 3 batter minimum (or finish an inning) rule, I actually think that move made sense.
  5. I know, but obviously this isn't a normal year. And isn't that only for external guys? Like if you sign a FA September 2nd, he wouldn't be eligible. But a guy already on your 40 man would be, right?
  6. He's on the 60 man player pool, so I see no reason why he wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs.
  7. Yolmer looked like he was using a different batting stance than in the past. A lot more upright at the plate than I remember.
  8. He better get open to it. He’s not too far from an milb deal guy next season after a non tender.
  9. I think Yolmer probably a better option than Mendick in all reality. Not ready to call it a day in Mendick, but Yolmer is a big leaguer.
  10. Mendick realizing hitting major league pitching is hard AF. Good thing we didn’t pencil him into 2B the next half decade and ship off Madrigal!!!!
  11. Not trading the elite prospects and young guys in the MlB lineup was the correct decision. I would have traded the Stiever, Collins, Rutherford, Gonzalez type guys for some rental pieces, but not torn up they didn’t. I get the frustration from some fans, but this is the very beginning. Trading Vaughn or Kopech or Madrigal or Cease would have been a mistake we’d regret for years to come.
  12. Goins DFA'd. Literally in thread title and Fegan tweet. `
  13. Well fuck, he makes a ton of sense. At the very least, if the Sox don't acquire him now, hopefully whoever does non-tenders him as well because he'd immediately be the best RF fit on the FA market.
  14. Yeah, we could have had it him for basically nothing. Was worth the roll of the dice IMO.
  15. This would get me PUMPED. Probably too good to be true, but this is about my max offer. I'd do Lopez instead of Stiever if they preferred that, but I doubt they would.
  16. I know you do. I've just always been a Robby Ray fan. He's much better than his 2020 numbers.
  17. Are you going to riot and call the front office morons for prospect hoarding in season where you could go 60-0 and lose 2 out of 3 to the 8 seed and go home?
  18. Roll of the dice, sure. But he's historically been an average pitcher, and worst case you throw him in the pen or DFA him. Acquisiton price would have been cheap. Having insurance isn't a bad thing. But moot point now.
  19. Bummer, I would have liked Ray on the cheap.
  20. I'd be fine with that. Would try to keep Adolfo as I think we ultimately regret that one. Also if we're weakening our pen moving Heuer, we probably need to find another vet BP arm to bring in on the cheap.
  21. I mean - he still could be right. There are still 3 hours.
  22. He has been for the last 40 starts. I don’t think he will be for his next 35. LL is a rock solid #3 type. He’s good. He’s not a TOR pitcher. We can agree to disagree if you’d like.
  23. I know LL has been really good in Texas, and yes he would improve the Twins. But he doesn’t exactly strike fear in me, and the Twins are going to be our closest competition in this 5-7 season window. If they hurt their future by giving up Lewis or Kiriloff for 35 Lance Lynn starts, I think the Sox are better off long term. Both of these teams are making the playoffs this season and frankly there is really no difference in what seed you have other than bragging rights.
  24. We get it, dude. You want to win the World Series and don’t really care what it takes to make that happen. You’ve made it clear.
