  1. I would suspect that if a starter goes down anytime after about July 15th, we have a pretty good guy to step in and take that spot. I am not all that concerned about adding SP depth atm.
  2. Ketel Marte is a really good player, but he's not a top 10 player in the game. C'mon. He's had a nice 21 to date, but let's not get carried away with a 100 PA sample. He was amazing in 2019...no doubt about it. I also don't think the sox have what it takes to get Marte without subtracting from the active roster (which I don't see them doing) and have said as much in this thread today.
  3. Fair. The forearm tightness is concerning. Had not heard about that until last night. Generally speaking, I don't think teams would be overly concerned about the early performance a 19 YO that profiles very well first taste of professional baseball. But yeah, if he's on the road to TJS, that would certainly hamper value some I would imagine. Realistically, Kelley/Dalquist/Thompson are our best bullets. Which isn't great. But I don't see Hahn substracting from the young core at the MLB level.
  4. Speaking of Foster. Probably time for some AAA reps for him.
  5. Schoop kills us. Wouldn't hate that if the return is (rightfully) close to nothing. But that isn't a move you need to make June 10th.
  6. We certainly don't know that for sure at this point. I remain hopeful we'll see Eloy and Robert in August/September, but far from a guarantee. I think its a pretty good scenerio if Madrigal is on a similar timeline. Grade 2 hammy strain (same injury Engel had), would put him on about that timeline. But yeah - I agree. Too much. I'd love to trade for Ketel, and since he's not a rental, I'd be willing to part with Kelley. But I am not subtracting from the MLB team.
  7. Man, Crochet, Dalquist/Thompson, Burger and one of Sanchez/Adolfo/Rutherford/Sheets/Gonzalez seems like a super strong return. But I don't doubt that would be the ask at this juncture.
  8. I'd do Kelley, Sanchez, Vera and Dbacks can pick one of the 40 man OF in Adolfo/Rutherford/Gonzalez for Ketel Marte. Sucks to lose Kelley, but Marte signed thru 22 and has options for 23-24 and can play all over the diamond. Fills in for Madrigal while he's out, eventually shifts to the OF later this year and next. I doubt the Dbacks would take that trade tho.
  9. I’d be surprised. He’s been terrible and hasn’t even been playing everyday. Looks like he’s been playing some 1B and DH too.
  10. Hamstring is sure better than achillies. Hope its a just a matter of a couple weeks rather than a few months. Fingers crossed. This team can only sustain so many injuries to significant players. Such a dagger.
  11. If only this team could stay healthy. What a dagger after already taking and surviving 2 kill shots.
  12. I would imagine we're only something like 45 days away from Kopech taking a rotation spot. Not saying a swingman wouldn't have use, but I don't think the Sox absolutely need to acquire somebody who can make major league starts this summer.
  13. I’ve always been a big Grandal guy and did feel he was an absolutely perfect fit for this roster. Loved loved loved the signing. He’s been slightly disappointing overall, but he’s still easily a top 3-4 catcher in the game. Totally understand he can be a bit rough on the eyes, but he’s extremely valuable and even moreso on a very right handed hitting heavy lineup that overall struggles to take walks. He’s a perfect complementary piece.
  14. I wish he was at DH tonight.
  15. This isn't really that fair of a comp when Leury has really been the only person available to CF. I don't think he needs to play for Madrigal tonight, but Leury playing 45 games to this point is mostly out of necessity.
  16. I am aware. I didn't say anything about his role, I said he was boring.
  17. I may be in the minority, but I found Len quite boring when he filled in for Steve on the telecasts.
  18. I don’t think Engel will be playing CF in days Hamilton is in the lineup.
  19. I know your comment was not solely directed at me, but I am absolutely 100% rooting for him and haven't "turned" on him at all. But I've personally been on this train for a few weeks. It took major league pitching about a month to figure him out, and now there is absolutely zero reason to throw him a strike. Righties will get him to 2 strikes on garbage, and once he's got 2 strikes on him worst he'll do is hit a texas leaguer. Once he lays off the junk and makes pitchers come to him earlier in the count, he'll start pounding the ball again. He has a ton of offensive talent. But he isn't good enough to swing at everything and still be successful. Almost no one in the history of the game is.
  20. It has been quite a bit longer than a week. He has hit .212/.272/.319 for a 76 wRC+ since May 1st. He's long overdue for some time on the pine pony against RHP. Lamb is quite simply a better option right now against RHP.
  21. Wait people want to trade Kopech? Are you kidding me? Dude could very well be the best SP in the game in a year or two.
