  1. Yes, he's much better than Nova. And yes, the Cubs would be able to get something for him. And no, the fanbases opinion is rather irrelevant.
  2. The Cubs aren't going to decline Q's option. That would be a poor decision. At the very least they could get something for him after picking it.
  3. Or Carlos Rodon wants to the sign the contract.
  4. The Sox should have the upperhand in negotations with Jose. The man wants to stay. Paying him over $20M per year would be insane.
  5. An $8.5M AAV isn't going to kill the Sox even if Rodon never throws another major league pitch. I think it would be fantastic gamble. My guess is Rodon would want more $, otherwise he'd rather bet on himself.
  6. So you do believe their payroll will be below $75M? Their committed payroll in 2020 is $15M. About $45M with arb figures. Unless you think the Sox are now one of the 2-3 lowest spenders in the game, your take doesn't make a ton of sense.
  7. So you expect the Sox to have a payroll south of $75M next season?
  8. How does one define that as quantity?
  9. It was 9 games, not 10. Just looked again. 4 of those 9 games he was the DH. He played 20% of the teams games at catcher in September. He was swinging the bat pretty decent at the end of the year - his OPS was .900 in September (SSS). I highly doubt Castillo is brought back. But we'll see. Sox fans are conditioned to expect the worst.
  10. Castillo started 9 games in September, at least half of which were at DH.
  11. Still think Sox should approach Rodon this offseason with a like a 3 year $25M deal with a series of club options. 20: $6M 21: $8M 22: $11M 23-25: $14M club options If he never returns to form, its not that big of a price to pay. If he does, you have yourself an extremely valuable asset. For Rodon, it gives him some assurances becuase if he comes back in 2020 and sucks, he likely gets non-tendered and may be looking at a cheap 1 year deal or even an milb deal in 2021. Attractive for both sides, IMO.
  12. That would be incredibly disappointing.
  13. I mean, they may give him the QO, but I doubt he walks. The Sox and Jose have made that pretty clear. (Not sure why I am responding to a Ron Abreu comment)
  14. Yah, Abreu is probably the right guess. What do people think he is going to get? Really really hope we don't see anything over 2/$30M with a $12-15M team option for 2022. Jose did well for himself the 2nd half of the season. I was hoping for a 2/$18M type deal back in the early summer.
  15. His posts are not even worth reading at this point
  16. Frank Menechino has been in the Sox organization for just the 2019 season. So this isn't your usual White Sox promoting "their guys".
  17. Gahhh. There are parts of this that are ok, but I would be pretty disappointed if that was our offseason in totality, Signing Grandal would be a home run. Getting Nimmo would be fantastic. Would prefer that it was with the Stiever + Rutherford package as opposed to Reynaldo. The rest is pretty much trash. Paying Odorizzi $18M per would a disaster. We don't need a lefty reliever and giving Pomeranz that deal would be silly. Fine with Smyly on a milb, but we damn better have filled the other opening with something better than Odorizzi. Total meh on bringing Nova back unless its for like $3M. Would love Abreu on 2/$24. I fear his great season made that somewhat unrealistic. Probably gets 2/$30M minimum.
  18. OH NO! THE WORLD IS ENDING!
  19. Padres paid him $4.57M in 17, $6.5M in 18, $7.5M in 19 and still owe him $8.5M in 2020. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/olivehe01.shtml#all_br-salaries Dodgers also on the hook for $4.67M next season to Olivera.
  20. There is always room for a guy like Grandal, but in my scenario Grandal would be instead of Martinez.
