  1. Yah, that is just not going to happen man. Best to come to terms with that now. Its for the best.
  2. He is not on the 40 man. He was last summer, but was outrighted off the 40 man in September when they didn't call him back up.
  3. Meh. We all though Machado and Harper would get alot more than they got. 6/$180M is a big time offer. He may get up to $200M, but I don't think it is a foregone conclusion.
  4. FWIW, when Hahn said "the money would be spent", that was after Machado signed elsewhere. He was very clearly not referring to the 2019 offseason with that comment. He was referring to the future. Not sure how exactly you expected them to spend the money between March and August. How about you let another offseason come and go before you declare that the money wasn't spent.
  5. If it were McCann you’d think they’d go with Collins. But who knows...hard to understand how they’d chose so Skole over Mercedes or even Palka. Fuck, if rather give at bats to Reed. Skole is 100000% a nobody.
  6. Futuresox says both Skole and Zavala joining Sox tomorrow. So maybe this actually is the end of Castillo. Fingers crossed.
  7. Lol, all you can do is laugh
  8. Infielder Ramon Torres promoted to AAA, so maybe it is Mendick.
  9. No DH this weekend. Probably a pitcher.
  10. Disappointed that Castillo isn't joining him.
  11. Fingers crossed we see some roster shake-up after that debacle of a series.
  12. Chances AJ Reed makes contact here?
  13. Ricky likes a balances line-up, even his left handed hitter is fucking awful.
  14. They don't even have to get rid of Reed! He has an option!
  15. I hope the whole staff is shitcanned. Doubtful, but a man can dream.
  16. I've got a bet with a Twins fan at over .275. He'd need to be dreadful for the next two months to drop that far, but.....
  17. No shit. No participation trophies in free agency. But I also don't have my head so deep in the negativity sand that I don't think those dollars won't be deployed elsewhere.
  18. More than 28 other clubs offered him.
  19. What the White Sox offered Machado was, at the time, the third richest contract in the history of major league baseball. Obviously it didn't happen. But to think they're just going to sit on that money is now is such a funny take. Unfortunately, most people won't believe until they see it, and even if the Sox do some damage in free agency this year, unless they sign a Cole, Strasburg or Rendon, a lot of the usual suspects will still being saying it.
  20. This game on national tv or something? Getting blackout on my mlb.tv.
  21. Got it! So they'll spend money, and perhaps alot of it. but you just assume it'll all be poorly spent. Makes sense - context isn't important.
  22. Yah, that's one of the biggest issues I've had with this season - especially after a 6 win July. Why not try more guys out? Now that the deadline is passed, why are Jon Jay and Welington Castillo still here? Why is Ross Detwiler starting on Saturday? Why is Josh Osisch still on this roster? I know Goins has been pretty good (actually thought he may be traded purely as a depth move for someone) - but again, there is really no reason for him to be playing at the major league level right now. The tank is on in full effect - at least give guys who have a sliver of a chance to be a part of the future a chance. There is no reason why Mendick, Collins, Mercedes for starters aren't here today. And I'd much rather see Kyle Kubat get his tits kicked in than watch any more Ross Detwiler starts. I know Flores is still working his way back from injury, but he should get a shot in the next few weeks too.
  23. Because they'd prefer to b**** and moan. That's really all there is to it.
  24. So, just so we're clear, your expectation is that the Sox plan to move forward with one of the lowest payrolls in the game?
  25. Conforto is great, but as others have said, he's going to be expensive and is only controlled 2 years after this one. Not sure I'd be willing to pay the price to get him. His presensce (and with McNeil) is what makes me think that Nimmo may actually be attainable. Nimmo has a little less power, but they're actually similar players. Nimmo was actually quite a bit better than Conforto in 2018 (148 OPS+ for Nimmo vs. 122 for Conforto) when both played 140+ games. Nimmo's injury history definitely gives you some pause, but its also the only reason his price shouldn't be astronomical. Nimmo would also come with three full years of control, and since he was hurt all of 2019, his arb 1 salary should be pretty reasonable.
